If all what I am and what I do each day is a dream - why would I have to wake up??? I am healthy, I have a good job...and I really don`t want to shoot an army of innocent police officers, not knowing what is going on, to change this. That`s what was probably worst in "Matrix" - the characters had absolutely NO reason to do what they did. And they felt free to kill humans for their personals "ideals", which - well..at least weren`t mine!!

@feckingbillgates Actually they are, a simple search on Google will enlighten you. I actually recommend reading a book from Amazon.

I also recommend you read, The Matrix and Philosophy: Welcome to the Desert of the Real. It can be a difficult read, but I digress. Unless you're completely illiterate you should be fine. I am not a "pompous Matrix fan", I simply am a fan of ALL aspects of philosophy. Post-modern, et cetera.

@Tekkenman101 The original philosophy IS interesting - even the post-modern stuff. But attaching it to a Hollywood trilogy is pointless. I didn't get to my appreciation of philosophy through the Matrix films (they came ten years after my teenage years though), and I wouldn't urge anybody else to take that route either. The sequels in particular stand like clunky undergraduate essays that don't understand their source material. Saying "read the source material" doesn't make those "essays" better.

@feckingbillgates Oh, I feel weird now :[. I actually got interested in Philosophy because of the matrix. I was a teenager at that point so I guess I can't be too hard on myself. I think it is good "candy" for the mind, the movies are like an appetizer to a gourmet. I disagree about the sequels, I think the background story (philosophical aspects) were right on target; however, the direction was bad. If they had presented it better then it would have flowed more secretly.

Um, what do you mean? The idea of the movie itself is very philosophical. And if you're looking for specific scenes, there are pretty most of the scenes with Morpheus explaining things to Neo, and then Smith's speech to Morpheus, and alot more that I can't think of right now. In any case, There are just too many parts in the movie that show this, but you just have to look past the dialogue and understand what the characters are really saying.
