the live version with billy cox buddy miles "band of gypsies" is 87,456 times better and 72,888,665 times funkier than this. check it and tell us what you think.
Fascinating to hear him scatting with his guitar... like at 6:22. It shows that he was not "playing" the guitar like most people do... He was using the guitar as a direct extension of his inner creative voice that did not follow normal musical rules. That was his genius.
@TheREVOLUTION2day Well, thank you for enlightening me, darling, as I would not know otherwise since I don't engage in such imbecile activities like killing brain cells that cannot be replaced.
@MercyCWDancing To be true, being alive kills more brain cells than anything else, and if certain musicians didn't partake in such 'imbecilic' activities as self medication, then we wouldn't have alot of this wonderful music. And, in before argument:
Have you ever played guitar while under the influence of lysergic diathylamide? Me neither, but this man certainly did, and did well. And I'd wager he wouldn't much care for his music being the prefix to an irrational argument.=]

Dear Jimi Hendrix, I know that you are going to read this from heavern, and so on I have to tell you that words of wisdom are exiting your mouth and godlike sounds out of your guitar while you played every smashing song.
@MizzNae126 were you alive when he was still alive? :O
There are so many artists that died before i was born, or when i was too young to appreciate their music that I wish I could see them live in concert.
@MizzNae126 i have been in tears this man is so good i cant say how good in words i wish he was still around we need people from another planet like jimi he mad my brain nearly pop out of my head with his Awsome guitar skills R.I.P Jimi forever gone but forever in our hearts ...
Those other guitar parts(tracks) are probably played by H too. Just assuming since this is a studio and not a live recording. A little messy but still incredible.
This track was recorded with the Gypsys, Suns and Rainbows ensemble (Jimi, Mitch, Billy Cox, plus Jerry Velez, Juma Sultan on percussions and Larry Lee on guitar) at the Hit Factory in NY, early September, 1969. The original recording was a bit messy. This Alan Douglas reworking is nice, at least IMO.
I never heard this Song in this version. I wonder how many interpretations Jimi did with his songs. Once i had a tape with rare Songs. I tried hard to find them but still no success. But o.k. listening to the stuff here is also absolut awesome.
@05candyman i know , the comment made me laugh alittle cause i knew what you meant lol. yeah i first saw it back when i had advanced guitar in high school.
Actually I do not need any, any kind of pot or whatever to get high with Jimi´s music. It happens in the most natural way that I get higher and higher when I start listen to his music, to his guitar playing. Just...amazing!
Dude I seen the same thing on f/b a week ago with some ad trying to categorize and make Amy Winehouse musically eternal........Jimi did everything but crack and you never heard about his self afflictions interfering with how he made his music she did crack and pills etc. not saying that its any better buuuuuuuuuuuutttt she was always in the news and not only that she never made ANY good music.lmao
dude listens to wayne so much that he thinks this song is about grabbing a gun a shooting people but it has a different meaning.
