Nastia & Shawn's styles are so different; both are amazing. This routine Nastia did was great, but I didn't see much tumbling. It mainly consisted of jumps & leaps. If you watch Shawn's routine, she had awesome tumbling passes. Yeah, she did a jump or two, but she brought her a-game with the tumbling. Nastia is still fabulous though.

I know this is kinda of an unpopular opinion but I truly prefer female gymnasts to be more of the powerful type, very strong, even if not as artistic. Don't get me wrong, I know artistry is an important part of gymnastics but when I think of it as a sport and as what attracts me to watch it and love it so much is the power, the stick landing on total awesome and super difficult skills. That's why I'll always prefer Shawn to Nastia, even though Nastia is great. She's just not my type of gymnast

Shawn seriously annoys me. And, even in Bejing, one of the judges said 'I have to admit, straight up that I wish Nastia was doing this performace' And then Shawn did a backflip and wobbled and she goes 'You see what I mean?' Shawn has done alot of flawless routines, but Nastia has done more. Shawn messes up and wobbles alot. I love Nastia (:

@TheCapicornGymnast I agree with some of that, but there's no reason to compare them. Nastia was meant for competition, and maybe Shawn wasn't. But they're both on the Olympic team, and I think they're both really good.

Nastia has longer legs than Shawn thats why Shawn always looks more powerful and Nastia look really gracefull. Shawn also has more muscle in her legs.

I love this rountine. Her legs are always guled together and she has sooo much strength. She has graceness in her as well as lots of strength. I am really glad she does beam so well.

I know how amazing she is and how talented but I never feel inspired by her. She is beautiful and what she does is flawless but the energy seems somewhat lacking. Im not on the egde of my seat, holding on to every move. Thats just me.

@boogybearable theyre actually really short lol. its jus that she wears her leotard up high to extend her body line and shes so skinny so her legs look longer. shawn johnson has more power, but in terms of artistic gymnastics and its origins, i wouldnt say shawn is better. nastia sticks to the origin of artistic gymnastics and its purpose. theres no artistry in power. shawn should leave the big tricks for trampoline and tumbling gymnasts, not artistic gymnasts lol

@frndrmgym If you want to be artistic, take RG lessons. Maybe u don't know but gymnastics is mainly about tricks, tumbling and power. Because whatever you might say you don't do a DLO or a triple twist, a giant, or a aerial walkover or just a DTY without POWER. Sure you have to show artistry and it's not because you're short, muscular and unflexible that you're not artistic. And long and beautiful legs; and some hands movements doesn't make you artistic either.

She isn't beautiful because she is tall - she is beautiful because she is up on her toes and stretching every single move. Do you have any idea how exhausting her routines are?

@legalglitz DId I say it was easy ? Nope. Though for an elite gymnasts, there are nothing in a routine particulary hard except that switch ring that could have been way better considering her flexibility. Some of her skills look pretty labored to me like the side somi, very unelegant, and that wold jump should not even been credited. She is good on beam though. She actually has lots of bent knees and is not point her toes, but curling them, pretty awful.

Her legs are just longer than her torso, Shawn has a torso that is about equal to her leg length and of course she is shorter than Nastia. I do agree that long-legged gymnasts make for beautiful gymnastics.
