  • IM GOING FROM A OLDS 307 ROLLER TO A OLDS 350,, I LIKE THIS VIDEOS

  • im about to swap my 307 for a 350 besides the mounts engine and trans. wut else has to be swapped mines a 85

  • @mramazing9000 Swap for an Olds 350 or SBC 350?

  • @oldschoolmobile sbc 350 cant find a reasonable olds 350 around here

  • @mramazing9000 Well if you're gonna go with a Chevy, at least go with a carbed 5.3L. 460hp with just cam/headers and carbed intake rocks!

  • @oldschoolmobile several 350 and 330 olds engines on Craigslist within 200 miles of me... I cant imagine other parts of the country are so different

  • oh alright man thanks. and also i want my car to sound loud and mean if you know what im saying so what exhaust system do you suggest i get and how much you think it will be?

  • @dylanzwilliams If you want it to be just loud and mean sounding, then LT headers with an x-pipe and Flowmaster Super 44's are gonna be the ticket. if you're looking for power to go with the sound, then Aerochambers like what I use are the ticket. if you can stand to have it a bit milder, then Magnaflows will perform the best hands down. My Cutlass ran hardest with Magnaflows but the wife said they were too quiet......go figure!!

  • @oldschoolmobile Magnaflow straight-through design perforated mufflers make a joke out of NoFlowMasters.

  • hey my dad gave me an 84 cutlass sprm and idk what engin he has in it he said its a 350 big lk but never herd of it i think its a 400 big blk or 350 rocket he got the enging out of a olds also anyone know how to find that out?

  • @dylanzwilliams If it's a Rocket it normally has it labeled some where (valve covers or breather). Big blocks are huge, it would be very cramped under your hood if it was. Depending on what olds he got it out of it could be anything (307, 305 are most common in the 80's) You can also go by it's colour. Olds motors are normally black or Gold. I believe you can check by finding the number under either the valve covers or heads? not to sure though, might want to ask around first.

  • @BrandonT98 305s are not found in Oldsmobile products normally but ive read that models sold in canada could come w/ the chevy engine. 403 olds engine is blue. toro super rocket was blue. total ez way to tel an oldsmobile v8 from a chevy or buick v8 for a lay-man is simple. An olds engine has the oil fill on the front of the engine. The chevy engine is not as large and has an oil filler in the rocker cover. A buick V8 has the distributor on the front

  • @dylanzwilliams Look @ the oil fill tube. If it's right @ the front of the engine, straight up, then it's an Olds V8, prolly a 307.

  • @dylanzwilliams 84 cutlas would have come with an Olds 307 or a 3.8L buick v6 from the factory. Vin code Y for the olds engine. It will likely have 7A heads and a 200-4R overdrive trans... no power but lots of durability and over 20mpg if its in good repair. Research the CCC or C3 carburetor too because chances are if its an American model it has this. btw, no such think as a BB 350, just fyi... and yes i know this is a mad old comment

  • Does your cutlass slide easy as hell in the rain? Mine does and I have the v6 with the 3 speed transmission. Mines an 85.

  • @ilshwak yes, i just barely gave it gas and it would spin forever.........

  • @oldschoolmobile im alot like that even with my 305 cutalss supreme

  • @ilshwak It used to yeah.....lol.

  • Sounds great cant wait to get my 350 rocket so i can start working on it.

  • stock 350 rocket?

  • @limpioo Not by a long shot.

  • nitrous mtfcker?

  • @limpioo Nope......just mild cam, headers, intake, good exhaust etc. Nothing wild or crazy, but definitely not stock.....lol.

  • @oldschoolmobile Did you bore it out or put flat tops in it? I'm building a 72' 350 (Olds of course). Id like to do a mild build but once I'm into it who knows whats gonna happen. lol

  • @Vette31991 Actually no. I initially planned on going all out until I found out that the Olds blocks can't take the power I was planning to make without dumping a TON of money into it. So I just did a compression test, rings sealed nicely still. Put the cam in +2, intake, Edel. carb, headers, H.O HEI dist., deep sump pan, high cap. water pump, higher flowing fuel pump, higher capacity oil pump, adjustable double roller timing chain and a few other odds and ends. I now am building a 383 LS1.

  • it didnt sound right to me when its started taking off, all that popping before it got going, i think the cam went flat, it just didnt sound right, does it still do that?

  • It was because one, it was cold and two, it was damn near out of fuel, literally on fumes.....lol. It runs fine actually and I'm selling said engine on ebay for $2400. Know anyone interested, send them my way.

  • why you selling it?

  • Going single turbo. The only Olds V8 that can handle the power I am looking for is a DX 350 and that costs a chunk of money to build. I'm going with a 5.3L and GT4094R turbo and run 9's hopefully.

  • You can use an olds 350 diesel. These can convert to gas and are mightily built.

  • That is what I was reffering to, an Olds DX diesel block. It costs a lot of money to build one and it's not cost effective or smart to go backwards in technology. The LSx engines are indeed the future of cheap, affordable performance. You can't get any Olds V8 that will make 500rwhp from 402 cu in that uses stock parts but with the LSx engines, you can.

  • hot car man! Got an 86 cutty myself

  • I put aerochambers on mine also but i only have a 307. check out my videos

  • got dam i want a 350 rocket too. lol shit all i got is a 307 i know yo whip a burn my shit

  • i heard those Olds engines are pretty damn expensive to build!! how much do you think you have in the engine alone?? i might go Chevy, but i'd like to do something different than that and keep it Olds!! good looking and sounding car though!!!

  • Yes they are more expensive to build due to lack of a good aftermarket following but there is power to be had in them for sure. I have around 3K in mine as of right now. It makes an honest 300hp/400tq. It's not everyday you get to see a hi-po Olds running around.

  • thanks for the info!!!! i'm sticking with Olds for sure now!!! if you know of any websites that sell good Olds crate engines let me know man!!!

  • if you go chevy you would just have a Monte Carlo not an olds {:

  • if u build an olds engine and a chevy engine the same way the olds will make more power

  • Chevy is too common. Olds is the real Jewl of GM

  • Too bad Oldsmobile isn't still around because if they had a performance RWD car, you can bet your ass it would have a LSx style engine under the hood. Cheap, plentiful and strong as hell stock. That's the real jewel GM has now. It was a fun learning experience with my Olds 350 but I will not ever regret getting rid of mine.

  • yeah, I hope to put a 350 in mine once the 307 goes. which that could be 50 years from now. I just wish that somebody would buy out Olds from GM and start producing something new.

  • Yeah that would be a looooong shot but hey, you never know right?

  • @oldschoolmobile Very true. The Oldsmobile Bravada, I believe is a chevy blazer with different trim. Like the GMC Jimmy. As a matter of fact, the new Chrysler Escalade hybrid has a GM 6.0 in it. I think they use only one type of engine to keep production and design cost down. As well as the frames. Just like they did in the 80s with the G-body cars. an 87 monte carlo body will bolt right up to an olds cutlass of that year. Engine mounts are the only thing to be changed, maybe the rear end too.

  • Olds motors are awesome, Mine's got 97,376 miles on it and can still burn rubber... And its only a stock 307 with a shit load of vacuum lines and a nice set of original glass pack exhaust.

  • sounds good my friend!! dont sell the car!! put an LS1 in it :)

  • Dont go cheby!! Keep it Olds!

  • agreed.

  • @danielclack22

Like does it really matter it is all gm

  • sounds similar to a poncho motor

  • Thanx man!! I'm not done w/this car by a long shot!! Just getting warmed up w/this beast!!
