what an amazing guy. i 'm so ipressed by the calibre of his playing. am i completely stupid to cry when he died? i mean, i never met or knew him. his guitar playing was always up there in my mind tho. love and respect to mr Gee's family now. Mikeyy xx
I went to school with Mick and used to watch him play at The Mont Merence Club in Cardiff. He was Tom Jones lead guitarist when the band was called Tommy Scott and the Senators, later changed to Tom Jones and The Squires. R.I.P mate.
my father cal ford was a good friend of mickeys and used to take me to his home in cardiff in the early 80's where i'd listen to them both having a jamming session. those were good days although i never picked a guitar up. maybe i should have. i would have had two of the best teachers in wales.. rip mick
Mickey was a true King of the Tele.I recorded him in the studio many times and he would lend me his Merl Travis records to show me where he first got inspired.
What a brilliant musician, so sorry to hear of his passing. Perhaps he didn't get the recognition he deserved and we are only now appreciating how good he was.
Can't believe this gent. What a brillant player. Being in the states- I never heard his name till his passing- but have heard his playing on hit songs. My loss- phenomenal skills. RIP great man and God Bless your family, friends, and fans.
R.I.P Mickey, Wales has lost one of it's most talented guitarists, who was just as happy playing with super groups, as playing gigs around Cardiif as the Rackateers or the Memphis Benders.
So glad I seen him play. Hope the BBC will repeat the 1999
great guitarist passed away this week he played guitar on the dave edmunds classic i hear you knocking.used to play around the pubs in cardiff in a band called mickey gee and the gee strings.
I saw Micky playing this regularly in the Royal Oak in Cardiff. Great guitarist. I met Andy Fairweather-Lowe once when I was minding Tim Nicolai's guitar shop. He came and asked if he could try out a few guitars, I wassn't sure whether to let him, but Tim came out, and said that's Andy Fairweather-Lowe you nut - of course he can! So he gave a mini-gig in the shop.
two of the greatest guitar pickers I've ever seen upclose.had some of the best times seeing the dave edmunds band back in the 80's.one year I saw them 5 times in ten days.I was young.
That's a shame. I have seen him live three times in last two years and he is brilliant.Even does some of the old Amen Corner stuff. His tour dates are on his web site. Try and get to see him you will not be disappointed. All the best, easyTaff.
