awww if only it tasted as good as it used to. Used to be able to smell a KFC in your neighbourhood. Now when your even in the building you can hardly smell it. Maybe it's just the local area ones. I know in other areas the pieces are much bigger and still get a slice of bread with your meals. ohhh those were the days.
Col. would kick the shit out of ya if you served the boney, greasy garbage they serve today. What the hell has happenned? Are the execs that blind to see whats going on. They are goin down big time. Watch out for Popeyes.
I miss the old grey peppery gravy....I had a Colonel Sanders piggy bank..My older brother and my cousin decided to bury it somewhere and I never saw it again.
Apparently those are worth money now...Thanks bro!
there's a KFC in Newfoundland that is still like that inside and out. Wood grain on the walls with the white and red counter and the brown seats. The outside is the same as well with "Kentucky Fried Chicken". Hope they never change it.
@MarkNF82 You must be thinking of the one in Conception Bay South. The one on Torbay Road at Elizabeth Ave. (not close to Stavanger Dr.) used to be like that until after I moved from St. John's.
sygo, more and more people started getting take out, plus really bad elements, gang bangers and such started going to pizza hut. Pizza hut stopped being a family resturant around 1990 and became a stoner, after party place for drunks. So, its no suprise that they started closing stores.
cat, remember that bac int he 80's we tried to make people feel good about what they were buying. Today, nobody sings unless it is stupid hip hop and commercials hav no real feeling.
I remember KFC when I was a kid. The food was so much better then.Their chicken today tastes nothing like it did back then. The cole slaw isn't too good either. Back in the day they had the best cole slaw and potato salad. They also had excellent fries, macaroni salad, three bean salad, and dinner rolls, none of which they serve today. If you read about the colonel,he used to go around and inspect each KFC and if the food wasnt good he would take their cookers. The colonel's rolling in his grave.
@crumbfish There was nothing quite like the heavenly aroma of Colonel Sander's chicken. And the TASTE was out of this world. Then the SHIT FOR BRAINS, CANDY ASSED, BUSY BODIED LIBERALS, had to fuck it up. No it's just plain ol' chicken. What a helluva shame!
The commercial is pre-1978 due to the absence of the candy striping on the bucket design and other packaging KFC used at that time. Col. Sanders himself passed away on December 16, 1980 (8 days after the death of John Lennon!), after having been diagnosed with leukemia six months earlier in the year.
This was a Canadian commercial, where the design of the bucket was still white on top and orange at the bottom at that time, instead of the candy stripe design they had in the U.S. We should know because that's how we received our KFC chicken back then here in Canada.
now 7 people are worshiping it by standing infront of it, not by turning around with a bucket on your armpit. Now the colonel did not stay on top of the bucket but appears on the left side of the screen by popping out. Now, his so-called slaves are his own employees!
They weren't even called "Kentucky Fried Chicken" restaurants here. They were called "Scott's Chicken Villas", because they were owned & operated by Scott's (not affiliated with the paper-towel & toilet-paper company of the same name).
Not quite "ready to go". Back then, you'd give your order and wait 10 minutes while they cooked it fresh. I still remember that old jingle, and the way the Scott's Chicken Villas (as they were called in Canada back then) and those old uniforms used to look. And the standard toy there was a Colonel-shaped balloon with cardboard feet. Throw it up in the air, and it would always land on its feet.
I had the one that was more lifelike, and painted---with the Colonel posed almost like an Oscar, with his cane. The later ones were more like a squat little caricature, molded in a single colour and not painted. Mine is still somewhere in my parents' garage.

Are you referring to the Colonel? Yeah, he was struck down horribly in his prime at the age of 90.
