I need some advice. I'm buying my first street bike, I rode this bike, really like the seating position, overall I really like the bike. However, I'm never going to ride on anything but pavement. Does it seem dumb to buy this bike then?

@ronmann606 Yea that's my question too. All i have ever ridden was dirt bikes and i don't want to give up that position of a dirt bike for a street bike.

@GHOSTthaHOST Ya same I ride dirt bikes and my buddies crotch rockets feel horrible to ride. Since posting that, ppl say get a dl 650 for the street anyway. Or, get a Kawasaki Versys. The Versys has somewhat cramped leg room though for a tall person.

@ronmann606 Heck no, it's not dumb! It's 90% street and 10% dirt, so it's perfect. Although you think that you won't do any dirt riding, you'll be surprised someday, and you'll be glad that it has some dirt capabilities.

Question to all owner of DL650 ABS : Do you like the front brake behavior when the abs come on ??? . Don't know if mine is particular ( result of a not to fast electronic abs ecu ) but I wish to have the abs only work for the rear brake . In front , I dislike very much , when you brake hard with the front and hit a hole or a bump , to have the front brake release momentary . You usually get the habit to have both arm going stiff and the release of the brake pitch you back violently : no good .

As demenstrated this Bike is only as good as it's Rider ! This bike will compiment any rider. I am 6'8'' 320lbs and I ride this bike. It is the best machine ,and I have near 20 years riding experiance!

Well, I'm looking for bike that will maintain highway speeds (60mph)at about 2500 rpm. No doubt the DL650 is capable of 80mph + speeds but the motor is screaming. I'am not a speed freak, just looking for a bike that has alot of torque, rather then out right speed. My days of high reving bikes are over, just not interested.

If the Strom is 80/20 on-off, then the Versys is something like 95/5. It doesn't even have dual tyres. The V-Strom may not be very beautifull but it's a really wonderfull bike!
