It's not silent, it's bossy, it usually makes the vowel that comes before the consonant that it comes after say its name like in, "Globe," "Graze," "Mice," and "Gene." Except for words that have a U before the consonant before the "E," which make the, "OO" sound that's in, "Food," like, "Flume," "Crude," which this TV show is not and finally, "Rude," which I am not. And lot's not forget the, "O" sound before the consonant before the E, which makes the fun "U" sound in, "Love" and "Above."
