  • good vid mate, i was there in inters on a black 06 r1.

only downside of the day is that there was no photographer there.

  • Just wanted to say too that Hottrax were really good !! Top marks. Im booking my next one with them real soon !!

  • @stevesvids

They have another session on 20 Apr which is the GP circuit, much longer and more interesting - £125.00 at the moment which is good value, hopefully see you there.

  • Hi Jonny

I was there too. Novice group ( the shame of it !) Did well though. Was my 2nd track day ever. 1st was Brands Indy in the rain so i was in my element on this sunny day at Silverstone. White s1000rr red leathers. I'm pretty new to all this track stuff but I managed my knee down (yes yes yes !!) which made my day !! I had a cam too but I just didnt want any distractions so i never used it. Shame - as your vid is great. There was a nasty crash end of novice last session.

  • @stevesvids

    Hi Steve

I remember the S1000RR, very nice and I'm very envious! If I recall, you were locking the rear going into Maggots at the end of the start/finish straight which was very impressive to watch (and hear!). Glad you had a good time and it was a shame there were a couple of nasty crashes - all part of the learning I guess!

    Cheers

    John

Hi John - This was my first ever dry track day (did one other at Brands in the wet on slick tyres so was very slow really but still educational). Ive been riding for about 20 months. I gather from comments below that I broke some rules which I am sorry for to all - really and honestly!! Sorry guys!!. I was just trying my very hardest to ride well. The marshall guys (orange vests) took great joy in taking me at every opportunity which pushed me on a bit I suppose.

  • @stevesvids

Steve, I think you are being a bit hard on yourself, I wouldn't say that you broke any 'rules', but it sounds like some of the guys felt you were riding a bit hard for the group you were in. It is a hard one to judge with regards how much room you give the other riders, as long as we all try to be courteous and give the each other space there should be no problem, the issue we have of course is that we are all riding at a different pace. Give the intermediate group a try next time.

  • @jonny2fast

Thanks John. I agree and i will be intermediates next time. For the record I was courteous and although I apologised to JG in good manners i dont necessarily agree with his condemnation of me but he can say what he chooses. I particually didnt enjoy the fact that he had his mates come after me. Whats all that about ?? My god!!! That was my first experience and I guess i need to just learn, be gracious and move on !! I have already. Novice is not for me. Thanks for advice!

  • Hi Steve, he didn't come after you, he wanted to tell you to calm down because he thought you were endangering people (inc himself). It's not so much about how fast you are but how you go past people. If the gap's tight then go round the outside of them, then its your choice and your risk if they lose it and take you with them. Sometimes you're going to have to sacrifice a fast lap but that's how track days are - if they weren't we'd be racing. Respect for looking after the hand guy though..

  • @jgphone

I ask you to withdraw your last comment here that your friend thought that I have endangered people !! Please dont write any more false statements here condemning me. You favoured sending your mates after me at the track (but they never showed) and you speak on their behalf here (but they are absent). Perhaps you have too much to say on behalf of others. So that we might end this I apologise again if you felt at all troubled on track by my participation. I note all your comments.

  • Steve... a few people will remember you and your red leathers and not for the right reasons. Over the day I watched you stuff two different people up the inside and cut across someone else as they entered a corner, then in the final session you nearly had me off as well. One of the people I was with went looking for you to have a word, you were that bad. Remember it's a track day not a GP and the novice group at that - have a bit of thought and respect for other people next time.

  • @jgphone

JG - so sorry if I caused you any troubles on track. It was never my intention. I am really very sorry . I am new to track and I have taken your comments on board. But - please dont post me as a shit !! Im not that type of guy. When everyone was gone a young guy that had crashed was stranded. Bike and hand nackered. I took him to hospital and stayed with him till 01:30am, dropped his bike home for him, took him to 2nd hospital for surgery and re-united him with his mother.

  • Glad you like Carl - the GoPro I'm using as a 960 version, not the big boy HD 1080p version but an in-between model. Also, I edited in iMovie on a Mac which makes life much easier.

  • Loving your work John and the GoPro has taken some quality footage, I'll have to copy your settings next time as the sound on mine is terrible.

Great ride though, really smooth, and the twin sounds fab!!

    I'll be there next time.
