  • You want to see a "high end version"?

Check out the rig that this is a cheap copy of!

The original comes with a front support, so you don't have to me rig heavier just to have it balance

  • @Suranvideo Where can I get it?

  • @onelonedork DVTect "dv multiRigPro"

    w w w dvtec tv / id33.html

  • I got T2i and i dont have and problems tighting camera to it...it doesnt wable or anything

  • I own this exact same rig and one of the plastic adapters broke on me at a shoot. I now recommend the Cowboy Studio shoulder mount. It's construction is much sturdier and feels more stable when shooting.

  • How come these for from $60 to $150 on Amazon? Are they all the same? I'd like to get one, but I don't want to get a knock off one that is crappy, but they look like they are all identical. Help?!

  • Looks like a nice piece for travel and other small setups.

  • Where to buy this fixation in 1:30 sory for my bad english

  • Couldn't you just pop a washer on top of that 'quick release knob' rather than buying a separate quick release?

  • Filmmakers

  • can i have ur email address steve

  • ive seen this also do you like this more then your rod system that you have used in the past ive seen

  • Great vid. F.Y.I. "Star Allen Heads" are called Torx.

  • @JunkyardRooster

also if you got the right Torx wrench or bit it should be less likely to strip than an Allen

  • im really starting to like the subscribe outro's

  • nice vid guy, good job. i ordered one a week ago from china and it hasnt come yet, but i am glad i know about the bushings now. i will be careful. good idea about the star bolts, too. and that counterweight--- bad ass !!!! good thinking, dude. i subbed 2 u

  • is there any high end rigs jst like this one

  • I just picked this up (finally). Been wanting it since I saw you mention it here. I got it for $60 on ebay.

Yes, a tad bit flimsy, but really great for the price. I can see that if you kept configuring it and moving the parts around it could wear it out. I found a configuration I like and locked it all down with the allen key and plan on leaving it like that. Once I stopped messing with it and left it locked down, the whole thing feels pretty sturdy and like it will last a long time.

  • How do I add attatchments to it? I just got one and have no idea how to install a light or monitor

  • Is it the same as Koolertron (advertised on amazon uk)

  • Just saw the end -

    Noob is right - LOL.

As I said in the message.

    Excellent description and content here.

    Thanks

  • is it possible to mount a follow focus on this?

  • Awesome, thanks for the review,

But, are there any other rigs that may have better quality screws etc.? I'm not very good with the screws etc. So It is a tad confusing.

But yeah, simply, are there any other types of rigs that have similar properties but just better quality/durability?

    Thanks!

  • dude I freakin' love your outros.

  • how do you focus manually while holding this?

  • So basically is a piece of cheap CRAP !

  • i need buy please! I'm from centro california' where can buy?

  • Aren't those "star allen" head screws actually torx head screws?

  • A "High End" version would be the original DVTEC MultiRig which runs at $292 and comes with a cold shoe adaptor and other handy bits.

  • Video is great. Super helpful. Ending is HILARIOUS.

  • Great video. I just got this today and I am completely amazed by it for the price. Thanks for the counterweight idea, definitely going to do that. I just used a rubber washer to make sure the camera was tight to the baseplate. I HIGHLY recommend this rig. Can't wait to get out there and do some proper shooting with it! Any idea on a cheap set of arms to attach my LED and mic? Subscribed btw :)

  • Hey, I've got this rig and instead of using a quick release plate, as the stud is too long, I used a 1/4 washer. It worked to tighten the camera to the rig.

  • there was an image of the rig in a nice padded bag. where did you purchase that at?

thanks in advanced :-) love the channel.

  • How do you get your YouTube uploads so crisp and clear?

    What do you export as?

Im using a Canon T3i and exporting HD 1080p 24f from Premiere pro CS5...

Is it that my lens isnt good enough either?

Please reply :D Would clear up a lot of my questions.

    Thanks!

    Awesome vids

  • @MeAndMyEthnicFriends The Lens is the biggest factor. Are you using a kit lens? If so I'd really recommend buying an M42 adapter for about 5 dollars and then an M42 lens off of ebay ( sometimes for as little as 10-20 dollars!). These old lenses are fantastic. Great pieces of glass and if you can handle not having autofocus for photography, a brilliant buy for video work!

  • @HorrorOfMike really? but is it what FilmNood does? is that what u have tried and got that type of quality??

  • @MeAndMyEthnicFriends I don't know if that is what he does, but trust me, some of the old lenses are brilliant and cost very little. I have a Yashica 50mm 1.4 which is beautiful and a 28mm 2.8 Chinon which is also really nice. Shop around and there are some great bargains out there, look out for Carl Zeiss! As for exporting, Youtube prefers H.264 MP4 files, and remember to make sure the bit rate is atleast 3000!Anything else just let me know :)

  • Dude, I love your new 'subscribe' prompt

  • awesome review! very detailed and methodical. i'm considering getting one and you gave me food for thought. cheers mate.

  • RAD ViD BRO.. We Appreciate the info, and we had a good chuckle at the end as well. Keep up the good work... From the CinematiX HD Crew

  • bought this 2 months ago. definitely a must have for start filmakers/dslr videographers.

  • Just bought one of these. Liked the out of the box ergonomics much more than the 15mm rails oriented rigs. (That and the price) Pity that when the company copied the design they didn't copy the accessories as what you get is a lot of sockets and nothing to attach Mics, monitors etc to.

In one day we went from the fig rig style, to using the longer arm as a monopod for in-car shots to an ENG shoulder config for handheld shots.

WIth an EVF and some tweaks I could use this all day.

  • Some sample shots would have been nice bro....

i m planning to buy one...some comments from you on d stabilization quality it offers would be highly appreciated....

    Thanks

  • what about DSLR/VCR Shoulder Mount Rig Movie Kit + Follow Focus + Matte Box For Canon Nikon ?

  • Like if you skipped to the ending.

  • Thanks, man. Love the info. Super helpful. My only criticism is, please, for the love of god, quit feeding the "this guy" trend when talking about things. I'm not sure how this caught on but I wish it would end. i'm just sayin'. Keep up the great work.

  • Hang in there. Your reviews are always good, and I'm sure a little catch-up and R&R will have you back to your usual chipper self. Thanks for sharing the info.

  • A lot of people make recommendations. This guy's recommendations are the best. I trust him. I just added this damn thing to my cart

  • what do you think of the panasonic lumix g2? please respond. thanks.

  • Is it possible to mount follow focus on it?

  • Great video! It's rare that a product comes from china and isn't a rip-off of some other more expensive product. I wonder what product is this a rip-off of?

  • haha the end is epic!

thanks for the review.. I still wouldn't be comfortable shooting with this but if i only had $50 this seems like a good option.

  • Great review!!

  • Habbycam is good

  • The real name is the Spider Steady Rig. It's really good, except the arms aren't very tight when you're using them. I just went out and got a sheet of rubber and cut small pieces out to put between the locks and the bars. worked perfectly.

  • Would it be possible to just add a washer to make it more snug?

  • You are a solid dood. Saved me a lot of money. Thanks

  • An articulate and thoughtful review; I agree a $300 "aircraft part quality" rig in the same basic config would be a great tool compared to a Zacuto rig (which I have already $1500 worth of and still don't have a shoulder rig by a long shot).

  • how would you connect a haire 7 inch to those quarter 20 holes?

  • @trainlova12 use a 1/4 20 stud in one of the threaded holes.

  • @trainlova12 pick 1/4 at the home depot ))))

  • Did they give you samples to review?

  • @lwj033 This review is out of pocket as are all of my reviews. I buy the gear myself and review it so that there is no conflict of interest. I own and use everything I review.

  • @onelonedork Where do you get the money to buy all of it?!

    It makes me jelly.

  • This is wack. I wouldnt buy it.

  • you sound really depressed and tired compared to your older videos

  • @TheRayvid Not depressed, but I've had 3 months worth of video work that has worn me out. It's nice to have a lot of paying work, but it's a lot harder to be excited after you've been working for so long. I'm ready for a vacation as soon as I get my youtube channel back up to speed.

  • so basically, unless you rig this whole thing up your own way it sucks?

  • @reanofilms I would say it could us a good upgrade after you buy it. No amazing but it has a lot of potential.

  • Very cool hardware. Great video.

  • That thing looks like crap, but the ending of this video is GOLD!!! Nice work.

  • could u use some washers in place of the quick release plate?

  • @Devdog1618 Yes, 2 washers would probably raise the camera up enough to give it a good grip.

  • great stuff. Could you do an episode on audio? I have an Zoom h4n and a audio technica 897. I have read that the Zoom isn't sensitive enough for the audio technica 897 to work properly. I noticed I get a pretty weak signal. Any tips or ways to fix this and still be portable?

  • LOL THE NEW ENDING IS AWESOME

  • this looks like it sucks xD But thanks for the review!!

  • @xxbluejay21 It isn't as good as most of the higher priced rigs on the market, but it's a good buy if your trying to save money.

  • @onelonedork what I'm planning on doing is getting a cowboy shoulder mount and adding some rails to it that I'll get from ebay and a DIY friction follow focus. The camera will be offset to my right a bit but its alright cuz the flipout screen will help. Do you think that's a good idea?? I'm guessing it'll cost like 200 dollars.

  • @xxbluejay21 It could work. I was thinking about modifying the frame to make the metal parts more useful, sounds like your plan is the same. Send me some pictures when you get the project done, I'd love to see it!

  • Hey thanks for the advice, I already got one of this a couple weeks ago!

  • @Cuajinice I've actually had this for about 2 months, I've been using it as much as I could before I put this review together. Hope it works out for you.

  • @onelonedork Thanks, also your website is helping a lot!

  • @Cuajinice Thanks! I'm trying to catch up with youtube videos. I hope to get back to 4 videos a month soon. I've had a lot of film projects eating up my time.

  • first

  • That looks awesome, too bad I wouldn't use it. :P
