Well, at least they recovered nicely. Could have ended with Taker landing on his head. Man, I would have hated Vader forever if he'd ended Taker's career right then and there >:(
Imagine if Vader had seriously injured the undertaker. Could have forced him to retire, Vader was always a dick, kind of like a playground bully, he had no problem chucking smaller people around yet when he came up against someone like The Undertaker he just made an arse out of himself!
It's not clear 'what' he said but Taker definitely was shouting at Vader. Taker has been known to reprimand wrestlers on the fly for botched maneuvers.
@D2Kprime well if you watch taker deadweighted didn't try to pull his legs up.watch taker vs kane.they always llifted their legs up and taker just deadweighted didn't try to make him look good
@MidgetmaniaRIP : Vader is plenty strong enough. I've seen Randy Orton perform this reversal at WM21 so I know 6'5" 452 pound Big Van Vader can do it. It was just a double botch. Nothing more. It happens. Vader has been known to botch moves, and Taker probably could have sold a little better.
@masterpott09 not smart to talk if you've never been in a ring. this is a momentum move. taker is meant to keep one foot on the ground until he feels vader pulling and from there it's all gravity. check it out done correctly in the taker vs taker match.
That was just a bad idea. It wasn't a matter of someone not being strong enough, it is a height issue. Undertaker is a lot taller than Vader, and the height difference made this reversal pretty much impossible to pull off. We've seen it done with Austin/Owen, Benoit and Eddie, Undertaker and Kane; all of those wrestlers are close to the same height.
Hope this sheds some light on this.
Also...can anyone hear what they're saying to each other during the cover?
@shootbinary I totally agree. In the Undertaker vs Undertaker match there was a reversal of a Tombstone Piledriver, performed the same way as this, just successfully!
@shootbinary austin did manage to do this to taker to reverse it but it happened only once in 97 when they fought for the 1st time at a pay per view it was something like in your house ppv
@shootbinary about the austin owen example .. yes the reversal worked.. the finish of the move though broke austins neck and probably caused his career to end that soon
@masterpott09 It's Vader's mass, lack of length length in comparison to Taker, and how quickly he landed on his feet, that prevented it from happening. So really, just too many physics factors. Taker has done the reversal Tombstone with many others, some much smaller than him, it just probably wasn't a good idea to do this with someone nearly 100 lbs heavier.
I was defending Vader a while back, saying HBK bullied him...think I might need to re-asess my viewpoint

That was a good recovery from the botch though. It looked like Vader landed on his head and Undertaker pinned him from there.
