  • I sang the Faure Requiem years ago. It's a beautiful work and I would love to have a chance to sing it again some time.

  • @Sunflowers159 I've sung the piece several times, in college choir and church; I've sworn to come back in the next life as a baritone just to sing the Libera Me. (I'm stuck in the soprano section this time around.)

  • Best baritone solo of all time.

  • When I saw the top 2 rated comments were from TTGL fans like myself... I shed a tear. <3

  • funny how the top 2 rated comments have nothing to do with this song...

  • @DarkChaosSilver Funny how while this song is good, Gurren Lagann makes it 10x better.

  • @TheMegaGodOfAnime

...What? You must be trolling me, it's not "Libera me from hell", it's a completely different song, is something wrong with your ears?

  • @DarkChaosSilver they were, as i am, looking for "Libera Me (From Hell)" the Gurren Lagann song. It is amusing to those who accidentally stumble on to this that they aren't the first ones.

  • i did this in 2010 at Carnegie hall amazing experience

  • duuddee i sang this song in chorus/choir at school, and just now i was singing it in my house rlly loudly.. and my mama goes all im not in church stop singing all creepy.. bahahaha.. ohh well.... lmaoo

  • i did this solo in high school AND in college. gahh such good times.

  • el señor no sabe pronunciar bien el latin y el director se confundio mucho pero esta bien¡¡¡¡¡

  • er.....wt's going on with his vowels............

  • In the sheet it says fff. That means "SING LIKE YOU'RE GETTING PAID FOR IT!!!". I have to say my school quire's preformence was much better than this... =]

  • @RectumPilum It means forte fortissimo. Do u have a video with ur choir?

  • @godag45 sorry, I tried to get someone to film it but nobody I know did. It was amazing though, we're putting up Verdi's Requiem next year, I'll try to get some of that =]

  • @RectumPilum No, getting paid is not really the problem, it's "Sing like you love to sing" watch?v=u6XAPnuFjJc

  • Fantastic Voice

  • at 3:27 he says raw raw fight da powah

  • Tenggen Toppa... Fuck Yeah 4 ever

  • i dont see the part that libera me from hell is from

  • @SolemnCollector This has nothing to do with that soundtrack piece save for the fact that "Libera me from hell" borrows the same text that this uses (roman catholic mass requiem).

  • Abu Nuwas talks about a boundless drop in a boundless ocean. Does not this music perfectly capture that spirit?

  • you should listen to this song but the version from barrington Pheloung. its very beautiful!

  • this is faure not verdi !

  • :O beutyfull

  • totalmente hermosa esta pieza

  • I never in my wildest imagination thought that TTGL, or any super robot fans for that matter, would overrun a classical music post on YouTube. Lucifer must be freezing down there. Furthermore, I'm more inclined to believe that the version of Libera Me that was sampled was Verdi's version.

Anyway, this song is a classic that I've sung many times over the years in different choirs. The soloist messed up the timing at the beginning.

  • I sang thins when we did this for the cleveland orchestra youth chorus last year and when 1:46 came the risers were shaking from the organ at severance hall.

  • i wonder how many people, incorrectly, think this song was initially from Gurren Lagann....

  • @cityhunter04 lol me it kinda looks the same XD the title i mean

  • @cityhunter04 I know it was sampled in Gurren Lagan (quite epically I might ad) and I first heard it there. But I think that this is a beautiful piece of music and feel more cultured and wider experienced for hearing it. It is uplifting and inspiring and I can see how the creators of the anime in question were likewise inspired and in turn inspired me more (Spiral Power?).

    ... also,

    Raw Raw FIGHT THE POWER!

WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?

  • @cityhunter04

I know you posted this a year ago but HAHAHAHAHA!

  • The middle part "Dies irae, Dies magna" lacks emotion.

  • I love how the guy that put this up probably doesn't know why everyones fightin DA POWAH! XDDD

  • JUST WHO IN THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?!

  • I performed this professionally and I really do not like brass...okay they sucked

  • @xMeatShieldx *the brass

  • gd song

  • Do the impossible, Seek the invisible, Row, Row, FIGHT THE POWER!!

  • In my opinion, although the singing itself is very good I don't think that the song itself is "angry" enough. Although I know that is completely the wrong word to use. Also both the choir and the soloist breath at some odd times. Other than those, actually minor things it's a pretty good performance.

  • ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH!

  • love this kinda music dont know y lol :P

  • Our Choir preformed this in Carnegie Hall, and was much better

  • @pstreaksshadow : Liar...I was there. You sucked.

  • Gregorian sing this song on their CD's "Dark Side".

  • We are singing this song today for Good Friday, with an organ. They sang this really well. The solo is great too.

  • The baritone with the mormon tabernacle choir has a better suiting sound for this song. This guy's tone isn't dark enough

  • we are doing this peice for the music festival in two days...

I tried out fot the solo part... didn't get it...

This video is great! i love the way the orchestra adds to the music... i wish we had the orchestra play when we sang...

  • I did a concert last night with the Girl Choristers and we did Faure's Requiem, Mass in G shubert, The souls of the righteous. I'm only 12 ! What a concert! :)

  • @mollydyer123 your an idiot

  • @UbraZ

I'd like to see you post a video of you singing this. then we will pick a winner.

  • My favorite movement. :)

  • faure's song morphed into the GAR-est song of all...

ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER. MY DRILL IS THE DRILL THAT CAN PIERCE THE HEAVEN!!!

  • wow the soloist has a stunning voice. this is a beautiful piece, beautifully performed by a talented orchestra and choir

  • What a wonderful baritone. Thank you!

  • fight the powa...?

  • the old gurren lagann ost!!! XD

  • LOL RAW RAW FIGHT THE POWAH! XD

  • FIGHT THA POWA!

  • I sang this Sunday night at Carnegie Hall. Beautiful.

  • How on earth did an agnostic such as Faure write such spiritual music?

  • well im in atheist and most of my songs mention god

  • Well, whatever, it`s beautiful. The whole Requiem is a masterpiece. Faure was a genius, and we are lucky he has left this legacy to mankind.

  • i find the voice great and definitely musically very intelligent

  • My college's orhestra played this last year. I played bass trombone that concert, and this was the only movement I played on. But that's fine, that way I could enjoy the rest of it.

  • My favorite movement of Faure's Requiem. I sang this last year with my High School choir,

  • RAW RAW FIGHT THE POWER !!!!

  • Fauré's Libera Me is the best version.

  • @icandoracingme i like introit kirie more

  • hmmm. sounds like a tenor to me...

  • part of the reason you say he has a tenor sound, is because he uses weird resonance in teh front, and a nasal quality to the sound, so it is not balanced with space in the back, to make more full and richer baritone-quality to his sound.

  • I agree...

  • Cool, I'm singing this solo in the JMC (Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh)

  • It's a lovely solo. <3 It's neat you're singing it.

  • Esta música eleva el espíritu.El requiem de Faure es uno de mis favoritos.

  • Great singing great music, great conductor, but best of all great understanding...

  • Im singing this requiem along with Dies irae-verdi and lacrimosa-mozart. :)

  • Libera me, Domine, de morte aeterna, in die illa tremenda:

Quando caeli movendi sunt et terra.

Dum veneris judicare saeculum per ignem.

Tremens factus sum ego, et timeo, dum discussio venerit, atque ventura ira.

Quando caeli movendi sunt et terra.

Dies illa, dies irae, calamitatis et miseriae, dies magna et amara valde.

Dum veneris judicare saeculum per ignem.

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine: et lux perpetua luceat eis.

  • I sang this Requiem with my high school choir in 2006. This movement will always be my favorite. This performance does a good job of capturing its power.

  • Singing this while in the Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys was one of the best experiences of my entire life, and I really wish I could go back to singing...

  • ooo i sang this at schoool! beautiful!

  • This movement of Faure's requiem is Astounding! I loved performing it!

  • RAW RAW FIGHT DA POWAH!

  • @TheLetterNate Lmfao guys

  • alright who punched me?

  • Touch the untouchable, break the unbreakable. ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH!

  • ... damn, somebody actually did it!

  • yeahh i cant believe that

  • @TerrorKingMugen yep.

  • best baritone solo ive heard on this

  • My school sang this in London......and the beginning of 'Libera Me' is so beautiful...in a sad way! :)

  • isnt it? this is my favorite movement of the peice, and it waas so easy to just be passionate with, we sang it at carnigee hall about a year ago. the performance kinda blew itself cuz the other groups didnt kno their music but i still love this piece

  • some weird pronunciation from the soloist...but good other than that

  • He's using the German pronunciation of Latin...

  • there are so many pronunciations of Latin... I studied it and we would get into scuffles about it all the time, especially singing Latin versus speaking Latin. *shakes fist at dead languages*

  • yup...i agree 100%... i love this song...nd i cant wait to perform it in our scool choir

  • Our school choir is also doing this piece. This is my favourite part of the requiem. I sing bass and I love singing this bit.

  • right at 3:03 i just want to join in!

  • Traditionally we sang this at my school every rememberance day, and the whole school would join in at that point. There is nothing more moving to me than the sound of 1500 people singing this in a packed chapel.

  • I love this piece!

It's funny, the baritone solo always sounded kind of jazzy to me, from "Et terra dum ve neris judicare..." to the end of the solo.

  • I've just come back from a performance of this requiem, and I was on the organ. This is my favourite of the requiem I think..

  • Requiem is very nice to sing as a low bass :D

  • Fantastic baritone

  • very nice! can somebody post the lyrics...

  • Baritone Solo: Libera me Domine de morte aeterna In dies illa tremenda, In dies illa Quando coeli movendi sunt, quando coeli movendi sunt, et terra Dum veneris judicare Saeculum per ignem Translates: Deliver me, O Lord, from eternal death on that fearful day, when the heavens and the earth are moved, when you come to judge the world with fire.
  • i sung this with my choir my senior year of high school

  • fico

  • the soloist put made all the E's long. besides that, an amzing performance

  • i did this as a sophomore in high school last year.

it was amazing & the requiem in general was such an interesting thing to sing.

  • very nice solo and performance!

I wish the middle was a little faster though.

  • ive sung that movement along with the whole piece. n even from the directors POV, they can only the way it was scored

  • this is amazing!!! i wish our choir was this great. lol

  • very nice. Top baritone there!

We at Shoreham Oratorio in the UK are doing Faure at easter - as a Tenor faure is lovelly but has some very tricky moments!!!

  • My schoolchior is preparing this requiem for our presentation this summer
