this engines was build in the 1970, and this type is still build... they have to be crap... i will not survive this engine..

If she doesn't kick after that...scrap it.

I'm sometimes used with our 84 here in Serfer Italia to try some cold starts :D... the most wonderful part is when the engine get stuck and you must turn manually the flywheel back ...

This is quite interesting. I have never heard a railroad locomotive do a cold start in my life! In fact, I don't even know what's involved in starting them. Neat video!

if you are a big train, yes it always helps, but it can ride on his own, so it is not nessecary :D but thaks.

it can pull trains up to 1700 tones... With a 550 Hp engine, belgium made, and running perfectly after its warmed up

I know nothing about trains... but isn't 550 HP too little for a train? A Corvette has more power than that, what's the diference? if there is any?

the difference lies in the torque at an RPM. your Corvette hase 550 HP at an RPM of 5000. This diesel has that power at an RPM of 600. That means that the torque is muchs higher than your Corvett.

this diesel engine is verry reliable, the same engine with the same amount of cilinder is made for 750 HP , hire it is used for 550HP (lower max revolutions/min)

Bij ons werken we ook met ABC motoren, maar dan 2500pk/stuk.

Ze staan in de sleepboten van de Antwerpse Haven. Maar worden nooit koud gestarthoor.

Ze worden 24/24 verwarmd door de C.V. ketel.

Onze kleinste slepers hebben ABC's van 1100pk/stuk en het geluid van dit filmpje trekt daar wel wat op :)

Binnenkort krijgen we nieuwe slepers met de nieuwe V12 van ABC :) (3600pk/stuk)

gekraak?? bedoel je da schril zagend geluid? dat is denk ik nie de turbo maar u oliepomp da geluid maakt, volgens da ik hoor is het dat. dat komt omdat het rechte tanden zijn op u oliepomp en met koude olie heb je dat...

neen neen , dat weet ik maar eenmaal hij gestart is valt die weg omdat dan de smeerpomp van de motor het over neemt, ik bedoel het gekraak dat mee gaat met de turbo, het komt zeker van de turbo, maar weet niet ect wat het veroorzaat, eenmaal hij warm staat is ge volledig weg ....

Is het een English-Electric motor soms, in deze loco's? Het "pendelen" na de koude start doet me er namelijk nogal aan denken.

neen het is een echte belgische diesel, het pendelen komt doordat alles in de motor ( regelaar, ontbrandingskamer) het echt koud hebben, de regelaar werkt traag en de ontbranding is niet continu. Normaal gezien moet de motor na het warm lopen stoppen met te pendelen wat deze ook doet. Enkel de oudere versleten generatie blijven dat hebben aagezien er veel speling op de regelaat is gekomen, of dat de regelaar niet meer goed is afgeregeld. groeten , Wim

Ah.. Dan hebben meer oude diesels dat dus. Moet je eens zoken op "cold start thumper" en horen hoe dát loopt. (Engelse DMU)

De diesels die we hier in nederland hebben, hebben een dergelijke loop nooit geknd, voor zover ik weet. :)

ik denk da je best eens ga laten kijken naar je woodwardregelaar, zal wel een beetje sleet op zitten denk ik... en een voorverwarming zou ook geen kwaad kunnen denk ik.Voor de rest, there's no engine like a DX engine

leuk ne kenner :-) DX heeft dat altijd als het heel koud is , het slingeren in toerental , eenmaal hij warm staat is het volledig weg , komt door de koude en gebrek van smering bij de starte, als hij warm staat draait hij echt zoet en constant :-) De investering om een voorverwarminstalatie toe te voegen weegt niet op tegen de zeltzame start in de winter. Weet gij mss wat dat ge kraak is bij de turbo , het is ook enkel als hem koud staat , eenmaal hij wars is is het weg ...
