  • Thank you!!! :)

  • You're an excellent teacher, dude! I've noticed your teaching skills have really improved! Always keep it simple and to the point. You also give very good references on everything you teach. Excellent. Keep up the great work! Peace-out!

  • you're very good my friend .. thank you for your lesson !

  • Thanks Beezy. It was helpful.

  • I'm loving the lessons. About the surgery, sorry if this makes you feel wierd, but I think you're beautiful. Sorry if my comment wierds you out since I'm a guy. Definately looks good though.

  • do you go over melodic and harmonic intervals ?

  • smart man

  • i like you buddy. tnx

  • am 26 years Old ;and i watch your lesson step by step but this speed is still hard to me,do you you think i started late?or things will come by practice?

    Blessings

  • @cyinkiben1984 there's no starting late. practice your hands off.

  • The notes in a g# minor scale are as follows:

    g#-a#b-c#-d#-e-f#-g#

Now when raising the leading tone to made a harmonic minor scale i get a G...

In order to keep following the diatonic rule i need to write the f as a f double sharp... fx.

My question is... can you do that? am i missing something? am i making now sense? this is the first minor scale i'm having trouble with... plz help !!!!

  • Andy 19:19 :you want me to teach you a song?

PAY ME MY MONEY BITCHES!!!! Ha Ha!!! dolla dolla Holla holla! that was pimp!

  • Thanks for the great lesson! It is the first of yours I have watched - but I want to see more. I compose music and use the harmonic minor all the time.... anyway, I really hope you feel better from the surgery you mention. And keep up the good work!!!

  • Do the guitar and piano similar or something ??

  • Much Thanks!

Pray that recovery from surgery goes well.

    Al

  • Thanks for your help and time. That is amazingly good. I hope you feel better after the surgery.

  • okej...what do you mean with staccato and legato i luv u man

  • i havent learnd anything....i cant play with 2 hands

  • playing with two hands is a physical skill you need to develop. Start by playing the same note with each hand, then you could try playing C D E F G with both hands at the same time. When you get better at that, then try playing one hand staccato while the other is legato, when you can do that switch it so the opposite hands are doing those jobs. learning to play hands together isn't something someone can tell you and you instantly know, it requires physical practise in guided exersizes.

  • Thanks it helped alot i still have hope for Midterm

  • thank you!!:)

  • thanks for your lesson, it is very good

  • Thanks this cleared a lot of things up. I really need to improve my keyboard skills

  • you are simply GREAT........!

  • How do you can play very well with both hands?, Actually I play the piano with both hands, but I cant play very well with left hand ; when I play with both hands are very simple melodies, with right hand I can play complicated melodies, I think I need coordination with left hand I can do very simple accords so can you help me?

  • <333

  • yours videos are the best...

    from chile, thank you

    PD:sorry if my english sucks

  • thank you so much for your lessons

  • just keep going..u r the most useful thing can puple have on the net... realy

  • great!

  • So A, B, C, D, E, F, G#", is called the harmonic minor the interval is called a augmented second, the melodic minor is A, B, C, D, E, F#, G#" is all this correct? x

  • Great Lesson

  • ha I just love your little laughs, would ppl. say it's quirky, I don't know but I love it.

  • Hey thanks for the videos...

I'm a guitar player but wanted to learn piano so it could help me while doing MIDI recordings, I also like classical music...

I have been following your videos...you're a good teacher! Thanks!

  • I stumbled across your vids, I definetly will stay tuned this was very helpful.

  • Thanks! You're very welcome!

  • ha ha i love how you play twinkle twinkle and have this awkward look like "damn this is so insulting to my piano intelligence"

  • lol.... did i really look like that? (oh no, someone can read my mind) ^_^

  • ha ha nah its natural for someone that can play minute maltz to feel silly playin twinkle twinkle

  • i love ur comparisons like of cakes and the driving the car in the sight reading lesson, it makes perfect sense

  • hey i was wondering what kind of music the melodic miner scales most likely to be used in ? thanks :)

  • it's used in the melody line of music written in minor keys mainly, especially more so in music between 1700-1850ish

  • the chain you got. that's cool

  • oh you mean my necklace, thanks ^_^ yea i bought it a few years ago, it's pure silver ^_^

  • i think you made a mistake at 7:00. you said tone instead of semitone. :-B

  • you know, it's pretty possible:P i'm definitely not perfect, my appologizes if i did mess up!

  • Hi, another great lesson. Thanks. Is it helpful to identify and practice the scales and chords in the sheet music before actually playing it? Does it make it easier to learn the piece? I have a suggestion for a future lesson, go through a piece and show us how it translates to what you showed us here. It's always easier to learn by example! Keep up the good work, these lessons are invaluable.

  • yes it actually does make it easier to learn some sections if you identify them as a scale you've been practising many times already!

Thank you for the compliments ^_^ i'll keep making the videos don't worry!

  • very helpful...indeed. but keepyour hands on the notes lessons should be abou more notes actually being played. And less talking. No offense

  • thanks, I apologize if i was talking to much, i'm only doing the best i can

  • i keep wondering how p'ple can be gettn FREE lessons and think about only their satisfactn & not even care a little bit bout the teachers personal life. He has absolutely no obligatn to teach u and if that is the little we can pay him for all these undeserved intellectual & skillful offers, why be so selfish? I just detest selfish comments so much it's not even funny anymore. please! I guess we can all say what we want. "it's a free country". Just dicipline urself to listen to p'ple sometimes

  • ^_^ thanks, it was nice to read this comment. I know it's impossible to please everyone but it's nice to hear when some people are happy :D makes you feel good about the work you've put into it all :) so thank you

  • You look great after the surgery. ^.^

    Best wishes!

  • thanks!!!

  • finally these minor scales are clear to me

  • that's great ^_^

  • useful, as usual. Thanks!

  • Hi! I have been watching all your lessons, and and I feel that I have learned so much from you. Thanks for your time and effort. I was just wondering whether you could have a lesson on how to improve finger strength. I have a very weak left hand. I would be grateful if you could show us some practices that one can practice everyday to improve finger strength on both hands? Looking forward to your next one!

  • that's a great idea! i'll put that in the line up for my next lessons! thanks ^_^

  • Welcome back!! Eventough I'm a little late.. just had to say it ;P

Good to hear that the surgery went well and since you asked, you and your jaw looks great :D *thumb up and juicy smiling face*

To be honest I didn't really get everything you talked about in this video, but it's not your fault. I just need to watch it again I guess

  • hey, it's good to be back ^_^ right now I'm just enjoying my holidays!!! (they're going great)

Thanks! I'm glad you think I look well ^_^ that's great to hear!

  • wat song could i practice w/ a keyboard? hehe i cnt afford a piano, wat i hate about d keyboard s dt its keys were too soft nd so sensitive,i cnt play with feelings... T~T

  • i know ;_;....keyboards aren't very fun to play on, if you wanted to play something on a keyboard, look for a bouncy march that focuses more on rhythm than feelings.

  • Yay! You're back! You look great! I didn't think you looked swollen. I never thought your jaw looked bad, but now I can see that it is more aligned somehow. Anyway, great lesson! I knew about the three minor scales, but no one ever explained why. You are a super teacher. I hope you will do a lesson on fingering strategies soon. Sometimes my fingering feels like a keyboard game of Twister. Have a great visit and Happy Holidays.

  • Hi Andrew!. Im happy your surgery went well..

Now tell me, what exactly would you be doing when you are teaching a piece? As in, will you be helping out on the tough parts or what?

  • Hi! I finished all your 25 lessons in 3 days, I skipped one. You make piano playing look easy and accessible. Now I'm gonna start practicing... :) And thank you for taking time to reply. I didn't realize you had a surgery 3 days ago when I posted a comment so I hope you're having a speedy recovery. Well, the jaw looks GREAT on you so far. Hope it fixed the grinding problem. Happy Holidays!!!

  • wow! you went through the lessons in 3 days...you're like a machine! someone should get you a bottle of oil for Christmas! Oh, and thank you about the comliment on my jaw ^_^ I'm glad i got it over with! So i guess you're all caught up. Now you're going to have to wait like everyone else for the next lessons to come out. anyway! i'm glad you found the videos helpful

    take care

  • waw long tym no upload eh?

  • i know! that's because i had major jaw surgery and I couldn't talk for awhile. but i'm better now!

  • oh ur fyn! dts gud to hear! ^__^

  • Finally, have been waiting your new video for a long time. i did learn lots from your lesson. thank your very much. by the way, you looks nice!

  • why thank you, ^_^ was it worth the wait?? lol the next one shouldn't be as long of a wait

  • Greetings from down under - thanks for explaining the concept so well - all along I have been told to raise the 7th for Har and raise 6th and 7th for mel, but hadnt been told of the reason - Now I know - thanks to you. Thank you and thank you and more thanks. Sam Nguyen

  • you're welcome!!! always nice to hear from you^_^ Yea, i thought people might appreciate the reason why we do that. For the longest time I didn't know either because again, no one told me, i had to dig this info up on my own and then confirm it with a theorist's opinion

  • thanks for lesson, and great profile.

  • thanks! i like how my profile is to actually.

  • Seriously now, sup with the jaw dog? Was it medical or asthetical(for ur nu vlogin')? Hehe. Anyways, glad ur doin' fine. Btw, I had some commments, but post wast getting too lomg, so I'll mail' em :)

  • lol the jaw hey....well it was both, it was firstly medical...my bite was missalined, and they said if i kept going the way i was my jaw joint would start to grind and i would be in constant pain anytime i moved my mouth in 10 years from now...and it also makes your jaw look better as well:P anyway thanks ^_^

  • "This is your B.Day wakeup comment. Unfortunately this comment is about 15 days late. This is a recording" xD

  • So what your saying is,you play melodic notes or chords with the right hand, and harmonic notes or chord with the left hand?

  • uhhhhhh....not really, when a composer is writing melody, he uses the melodic scale to avoid an X2nd....when he's writing the harmony, he'll modify the 7th note to use the leading tone.

  • Yay, finally catched up with everyone else!

Glad to see your surgery went all right, and of course I'd like to thank you for all these lessons, they are really really nice!

Oh and by the way, happy late birthday, and merry christmas, and happy new year, and all that stuff, you know... Anyway... Glad to have you back!

  • u to. On your page it says your home town is Ottawa do you live in Ontario or British Columbia? on your other videos you say BC.

  • i used to live in ottawa, but now i live in BC

  • oh. I did a report about BC once i think in grade 5. and we were aloud to bring guest so i brought my aunt who used to live there.

  • lol, nice so where do you live then?

  • In Ontario

  • ahh, nice, i'm moving there in the summer

  • sweet. lots of small towns and big cities.

  • it's almost christmas

  • i know! merry christmas ^_^

  • I'm glad the surgery was safe and ur back. or else i wouldn't be able to have extra lessons beside my regular Wednesday lessons.

  • good lesson. great that your back and the surgery went well, your jaw looks good.

don't worry about teaching songs, keep doing what your doing. its perfect! i really appreciate what your teaching and for taking the time.

  • thanks ^_^ I like doing what i'm doing!
