  • TARZAN ON GUITAR!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • you are so right Ted epitomized the rock and roll excellence and volume and guitar wizardry as rock n roll peaked in the 70's.I like alot of great rock before and since but this was the mountain top!

    I said you can stay.

  • @SaintVitus808 Nice dude Nice!!

  • I was one of those kids rockin' out at that concert. Ted was the best performer there and the absolutely freaking LOUDEST! When he set his guitar down in front of the amps at that last bit, the throbbing wave of roaring feedback just shook the whole place. It sounded like an army of Super Stallion helicopters flying overhead and literally made our rib cages rattle! Raw Rock at its finest! :-)

  • AND...that was the OPENING song!!!!

  • @NOTZZZZZ That's funny bro- I wish dude would get St. Holmes back, so he can focus on guitar again on some songs. Double duty at Teddy's age ain't gonna happen for ever.

  • CRAVEMAN?

  • We where 2/3 of the back in that massive crowd. A 5 foot tall metal fence was bent all the way to the ground as far as you could see. , crazy stuff, my friend found a hundred bucks blowing around on the ground. I saw a whole trash can full of power hitters being thrown out into the crowd. Lots of weed being smoked. pretty laid back...along time ago.

  • Nugent was/is always able to take being an unmitigated psychopath to the greatest height in the Divine Comedy of existence.

  • I was there too,,,, Any old buds that I went with reading this ? Steve, Marty, Dave, Angie, Celeste ?

  • I was there that day. Thank you!

  • Opened up for Ted at the Target Center in Minneapolis in 1995. He started with Amboy Dukes and continued through his discography. AMAZING! Music really has taken a shit over the years. I'm only 39, but because of my brothers, I grew up on the Nuge! Thanks for the posting! I have a vinyl of Cali Jam and as soon as I dig it out, I'll let you know the groups that performed.

  • He was my first hard rock concert!! I have never looked back since :) Ted with his raccoon tail!! lol

  • My cousin and I were smashed up against the fence in front row at the age of 12!. My dad dropped us off 2 miles from stage at 2am day of concert, dad drove us from Tucson Az after I won tickets off radio. had to beg dad. Ted Nugent's screams at the end of this song were the loudest sound I ever heard!. We lived, we learned, we made it back to get picked up by dad and made it home. No sleep until Sunday am. Monday the 7th grade teacher thought I was insane for show and tell day sent me home

  • Saw him twice in Tucson in the 80s. I remember the second show I saw the American flag behind him as well getting unfurled. But I was in no conditon to see it open from left to right or from right to left.

That show was LOUD and Ted was great.

  • @NathanielJkamman .. sounds like quite an experience, I saw him here in Tucson and it was so loud, he did Bound and Gagged and this American flag was unfurled behind him sort of from right to left. Oh, and did I mention it was loud? Even I kid I remember thinking it was too loud lol.

  • Cal Jam 2 was a huge deal in SoCal. I was 12 back then and listened to a steady stream of Nugent, KISS and Zeppelin. What's the average 12 year old listening to these days?

  • @jerryskid1 Exactly, I was 14,,my older brother went but I couldn't, and ya, back then, me and all my friends were into Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Hendrix, Sabbath,,,Nugent,,,,back then in So Cal, KMET & KLOS ruled and their programming rocked! Those were the days.

  • I remeber seeing this on a wednesday night after church. I was blown away.

  • I saw him summer 78 and when he jumped from the amps and hit the stage the pyros went off ! (it was night)

  • Ted was great that day! I remember when he was finished, he left his guiter on full blast and left the stage with his guiter in the guitar stand just screeching and squeeling with feedback!!! THAT, was a good day.

  • NUUUUUGE in his prime !!!!! Last time the band played together. I was a young fan a just getting started on the NUUUUUGE. . Nothing F in like it ! ! ! !

  • Best live Nugent song!

  • Wang Fuckin' Dang--thats a LOT of Sweeeet Poontang!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was lucky enough to get backstage for this event. I stood just to the right of the stage with frre beer and food ALL DAY LONG! I have some great pictures of Ted from this show.

  • @DanaVanHeerden Post 'em!!!!!!!!!

  • i remember on that day all my friends and i were getting stoned and pumped up for cal jam 2. i was 15 and my friends were older than me. my parents walked down the street and dragged me off for a weekend camping trip. i was pissed. looking back i should have went with my friends and took the ass beating. oh well.

  • @MrSchmuchface you dissapoint me

  • I remember seeing this on TV when I was 13 in 1978. Ted just shaved off the beard he had durring the Double live Gonzo Tour. I think he was out to prove that album was for real and this Festival was where to prove it! I remember everyone thought Ted was high on heroin, coke or speed during the whole tour by his insane energy. But that proved not to be the case. Cheap Trick came out with their live album too at the time. Live albums were big, then!

  • Sorry...Testosterone...Dinner..I can spell, I was caught up in the moment

  • TED NUGENT ROCKS!!! TOO BAD THE KIDS TODAY MISSED IT. PRIMITIVE STRAIGHT FORWARD JUNGLE HAIR VINE SWINGIN DRUG FREE KILL YOUR DINER GOODNESS. Ted represented the alpha male unlike any other rock an roller since. I MISS THIS SOOO BAD. THANK YOU SO MUCH WHOEVER POSTED THIS....THANK YOU

  • For all those who FEEL this....THIS is what OUR rock and roll ONCE WAS. Straight from the jungle and onto the stage. From deep in the bowels of the swamp came a man, with PRIMITIVE HEART and SOUL...destined to take over the stage with the TESTOSERONE of a THOUSAND BULL BUFFALOS IN HEAT...PENETRATING your senses with a TRIBAL BOMBAST OF GUITAR WAREFARE UNMATCHED .....a single CRAZED MAN DELIVERING THE ROCK-n-ROLL GOODS....TED NUGENT...VINE SWINGING...KILL YOUR DINER WITH A SHARP STICK...LUNATIC!!

  • @SuperCraigmartin so right on, and so very real. go gonzo!!

  • @SuperCraigmartin Hell Yes!! In 78 I used to run home so I could listen to Double Live Gonzo!

  • @SuperCraigmartin WELL SAID......Love the towel bit at the end ,too. Gonzo. baby!

  • @SuperCraigmartin Well said (if you were serious). Nugent is a good American. Now we reward street scum. Gee, it's almost as if we've dumbed down American music so we have to dig down back to the 50s-80's to hear good music anymore. Will Justin Bieber ever play a guitar with his teeth then burn it? Doubtful.. He might singe his hair or burn his million dollar faggot face. SICKENING.

  • thumbs up if Uncle Ted Ruled Cal Jam II.

  • I remember watching this on television back in 1978-79, my older brother had the double LP with Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Dave mason, Heart, Santana, Rubicon, Frank Marino & Mahaugany Rush, and variuos others, i also recall that there is a song or two that are studio tracks on the Album

  • Where in the hell did rockin roll go? And why? WTF? Come back home freaks.....

  • This band sounds like a stampede of Rhinos. Love it.

  • been lookin for this for a while...teddy at his peak.

  • you're right, i stand corrected,

  • awesome - has this cal jam stuff been released as an album? if it hasn't he should gather all this cal jam stuff and release it! it shows him in one of his best times in myt opinion :)

  • @LordAzai There was a double LP of highlights from the show but it really should be on DVD, so many cool acts were there.

  • @jennifersman yup, I had that double album...Heart...Aerosmith..fleetwood mac....I wish I would of kept all my albums, had a great collection

  • @blite13 Hate to brag, but I have 2 copies of that album I bought at collectors conventions, super cheap! I don't think it's ever been released on CD. Technically, Fleetwood Mac weren't there, just Bob Welch. Mick & Christine showed up because he was an ex-Mac member

  • @jennifersman Thanks for the info, like I wrote, I gave away my albums back in the 80's, I just remember playing and taping, to cassette, Ted and Heart. Many times I went for a jog with Free for All version on my cassette walkman. ahh, i miss my youth.

  • awesome video quality!, i remember watching this on late night TV back in '79, i have the double live cal jam album, but uncle ted is not in it.

  • Ted is on the double album, he did Free for All & Snakeskin Cowboys
