o/ o/ o/ a lot! call me!! I like so much that scene with the orange!! so sensual scene with a smart camera in circle circle and mirrors....sexy fantastic!
btw, any pointers to decent pick up places for tapes in the west would be appreciated ;) ..i had an excellent collection in the UK late 80s/early 90s-totally MINT multiple releases of chainsaw massacre, hills have eyes,VIPCO releases etc. A friend got a hold of them in the mid 90's and promptly had them stolen from his flat shortly afterwards!! so just starting to collect 80s tapes again recently , and discovering loads of great aus labels, or alternate releases to those i'd seen before
It's very difficult to find VHS titles outside of ebay these days. Some of the Aus labels of the 80s were fantastic. My fave of all was the Palace Explosive label. If you get a chance check out the two vids I uploaded here on that label. Most are collector's items these days.
its got quite a few i want to pick up still, though a lot of the stuff like the thorn emi stuff has wrecked cases etc. I picked up a nice copy of "hawk the slayer" on cbs fox yesterday...
I can remember seeing Chopping Mall Rocktober Blood and From Beyond and slaughter high at my local video store years ago they had a closing down sale but some one bought them before me bastards.
Female prison flicks were a fav as a teen. Havent seen Vendetta but you just sold it to me! If I recall the first one I remember was Reform School Girls.
Great update and I'm glad you are back to full health. I had a similar run in with the flu although it wasnt swine, problem was I was too sick to watch movies even though I wasnt working. Too fucked in the head, did you get time to watch anything good?
Vendetta was a great b-flick. Shame it's not as well known.
Took a while to get over that nasty flu! Our government is handing out the vaccine free of charge now, and even though I've had it, the doc said I should get it anyway,
As for movies, watched a Canadian film called YPF (it's an abbreviation for obvious reasons!). Not really into sex comedies, but that one was funny as. And caught up on some of John Waters' early films.
Great cover for that Killpoint. Model Behavior sounds like a true cheesy 80's gem. That trailer you uploaded is awesome btw. I would love to have Vendetta in my collection, nudity and pointless violence.. Can't get better then that. Blood Diner is awesome, have that on a Dutch Vestron tape. Great take on Herschell's Blood Feast! Again great collection, can't wait for the update!
Loved your synopsis of Call Me, ha ha! And those clips Model/Deadly, so gauche! A lot of those haven't seen. I have a VHS Vestron copy of To Live and Die in LA. One of my all time faves and I best cop film of the 80's, their treasury agents but close enough. I know Murder One has a poor rep, the reviews said a pretty unpleasant and mediocre true crime film, never caught. It might be Canadian but I'm not sure. Great vid, thanks again!
Ah yes, I see that Murder One was a Canuck co-production. From what I've read, it's critique lies in the fact that a degree of 'sympathy' is garnered for the murderers. Those sorts of ethical issues are always a bit murky. So there's probably a good case for the suspension of disbelief I think!
I'm embarrassed to admit that that scene is the only thing I remember about Call Me! Oh well. And those indelicate 80s clips simply had to go in! Thanks for watching.
Righto. Let me know how Murder One goes. I remember back in high school, we had an assignment to make a short horror film. Someone took the title and footage from Slaughter High. I think it was because he was stuck with a group that was just dicking around and he had nothing to work with. He was clever guy so that was too bad, if he'd been in our group he would have done something decent. Still his film was good for a laugh, and other 2 which were pretty bad, hee.
Vestrons were usually not mainstream releases, so weren't stocked in huge amounts. I'm just lucky to have found quite a few in one single video store that's been running since 1984, that never let people take the original cover on hire with the tape, and is luckily located in the very suburb next door!!
Ah yes of course! Melissa Leo was the lead hooker in Streetwalkin!!! Mickey Rourke wasn't the only comeback king at this year's Oscars. She actually did a great performance in Frozen River.
Great video, I can't get enough of these VHS collections at the moment. I even started collecting VHS again myself (after years of ignoring the format) purely because of nostalgia for that '80s boxcover artwork...
I'll always remember Vestron as the company who released Return of the Living Dead in the UK. Which reminds me, I really must track down a copy for old time's sake...

I don't have a copy of Chopping Mall. There's quite a few others I want too, like Rocktober Blood and From Beyond.

aussieroadshow, im willing to bet you got that copy of "good guys wear black" from yarraville!!
yaphetkottoarmy 2 years ago
Quite possibly. I forget where I got that one from now! I know that Video Flash stores tended to have those obtrusive stickers on the front.
From memory the Yarraville store had a lot of useless mouldy tapes that were fit for the tip.

I didn't care for The Company Of Wolves. Just Little Red Riding Hood with horror added. B Diner and Re Animator were funny what I recall.

Quite a few early adult titles will show up in the Roadshow Vibrant video I've got planned soon.

Yeah I loved many of the Vestron films. Lots of great 80s crap. I really get into that sort of old stuff, 60s, 70s and 80s.
First few minutes of Model Behavior has bare breasts. That's a real good start! Must watch that one soon.
Not sure what to put in the next update. Got so many new things. Thanks for watching!!

I'm probably one of the few people who liked Murder One. That film gets unfairly trashed by people.
And it's funny to think that Streetwalkin' starred a recent Academy Award nominee (Melissa Leo, who was nominated for Frozen River but didn't win).

I find VHS collection videos useful so I can get an idea of what the cover might look like.
Interesting that Return of the Living Dead was a Vestron release in your neck of the woods. It was a Thorn EMI here!
Really keen to find Don't Open Till Christmas. That old UK horror got through uncut here.
