  • Glad all of you are so tuned in on Steve's mucic...we've been friends since the first big band we were in in high School..Steve;s charts are challanging and the best..I play Bari in the live at Typhoon;s Santa Monica video..We've been a family for 40 years!!..got our starts playing the Stan Kenton Collegiate Neophonic Orchestra..1969. and Stan Kenton Jazz Clinics Redlands University!!

  • Thanks for watching! A freaky chain of events led to my becoming good friends with Steve -who is a gracious gentleman, as you know. Flew to CA. with my girlfriend last year as Steve's guest for the Typhoon gig; I spent a fair amount of time visiting with Ralph and Mack also. Thrill of a lifetime! Steve has become an even bigger influence on me since. His friendship is priceless, and we communicate regularly. Finances kept me from flying out for the 2011 gig, but planning for 2012. See you then!

  • Dave

  • ur so mean to your bari player. :( haha

  • I met Steve Spiegl in 1987 and we had a great conversation with him regarding Bacchanalia. He was really appreciative of our performance and was very supportive of the Blue Devils efforts on his chart. I had asked him what he thought of us taking the chart faster and he really didn't feel it hurt the overall feel (or mood) of the chart. Playing that chart was a blast and I wouldn't mind doing it again!

  • @Mister10Percent Who are you? (Sam Signorelli here)

  • Dope groove man keep it up

  • sight read this, love the latin grooves

  • @SchennsABeast FAG! You are a complete and utter WEENIE! Go suck some wood! Calm down . . . I mean a reed!

  • Ummm.....clearly, your comments must be meant for somebody else. I've been called many things, but you're way off, sir. Please don't let your self-doubt interfere with any plans you may have to improve your poor excuse for a life. Best wishes.

  • Excellent Job! It sounds really nice & crisp!!!

  • Thanks very much! I really appreciate your comment, and your time to check out my tribute to Steve and the Devils! Please check out my other Spieglband efforts- he invited me to their upcoming concert in California, the chance of a lifetime...stay tuned!

  • GREAT JOB!! I was with the Devils this year.

  • (Note the comment below)...First, thanks for taking time to watch my vid and leave a note. Second, all BD members have my utmost respect...very cool to have someone who was there give my vid a view. My daughter is very Regiment-influenced since her band staff are all Phantom folks, but even she acknowledges the Devils' are consistently superior!

  • @blackpanther310 Igor?? Dave Hogan/Polk?? Smirt?? (Sam Signorelli here)

  • Man, my sincere apologies!! the comment I left was intended for the schmuck below yours...I don't know how i replied to the wrong comment, but I'm very sorry. Check this video again and read the comment below...that's where my reply was aimed. Very sorry! eric

  • @rrpd4130 No worries.

  • Ive always enjoyed this Spiegl chart... very cool grooves...

Wayne Downey and Float's version was kick ass as well... then again that 1984 version of the BD was on of the most incredible set of musicians... would like to see that show with modern visual program.

  • "then again that 1984 version of the BD was on of the most incredible set of musicians"

The best group of players it's ever been my honor to perform with, hands down...I've always considered myself one of the weak sisters of that line....but being the weak one in a BD is nothing to sneeze at!

  • Thanks for the kind words...Downey and Rapp were a big influence on my high school drumline days...but Spiegl was a lifechanger. I didn't see the BD '84 show until the video age 20 years later, and I agree 100% with you. thanks again!

  • Awesome - I always wondered what the original sounded like. Cool stuff!

  • Thanks for the kind comment! I appreciate you taking time to watch the video. Spiegl is a brilliant composer and bandleader, and I like the fact that I'm the only drummer Tubing to his music. More in the works as time allows- please keep watching! e.

  • LOVE Bacchanlia!!! Would love to see BD do this again. We played this my senior year in high school and when I later saw and heard a recording of BD I was THRILLED!!

What makes it sweeter is the 1984 Finals was at my alma mater, Georgia Tech, in Atlanta!

  • Coming from an 1984 Blue Devil alum I(soprano)....thank you! It was one of my favorite charts that year (La Fiesta beign the other fave.

Funny thing...I found a recording of the chart on line a couple of years back...you used the same one (I recognize one of the trumpet fracks)

Now if someone could locate the origial to Latin Implosion I'd have originals for my entire show (I KNEW I should've bought that cassette tape of all the source music when Jack Meehanoffered it to the line)

  • Bluuuuuuuuuue!!!! Thanks so much for watching. The tickets to DCI Southwestern Champs go on sale tomorrow, and I never miss it. Devils are always explosive, looking forward to the experience again..7th year in a row!

  • You rule! Man, awesome! I want to listen to this at a bar in outer-space!

  • Well done, my friend! Keep 'em comin!

  • Danke schoen, bitte sehr! So much music, so little time...

  • Very skilled played! Good job! ;)

  • Thanks very much! I appreciate you taking the time to check it out...please keep watching!

  • Nice job! I played bass on this recording and it certainly appears as if you have it down! Keep up the good work. By the way I am also a UNT grad and live in Texas now.

  • PM on the way to you....thanks for the kind words!
