If ur high enough lvl the darkspawn arnt a problem I killed him in my first try, I used 600 gold for the potions but it was worth it. Also have the dragonbone armor on ur malee fighters so they have 70% fire resistance I used wade's light armor and massive armor an the topsiders honor an the waraxe u get from the dwarf in the bacecamp (sells it for around 130 gold) and the keenblade an fade wall for alaster, with all the buffs u have on ur malee fighters the fight will only be about 10 mins
Ok...this is all ya do...grab AND SAVE a stack of 99 of each health and mana potions (potent of corse) then have enough ingredients for about 3 stacks of 99 mana potions an have wyann an mor...the mean bitch heal and bring uy back to life make them use a mana potion when there mana drops below 50-75% after that just hack an slash him to death

The dragon isnt even hard to kill its the frigging darkspawn that get in the way constantly, you half the dragons health with pretty much no difficulty but as soon as it summons darkspawn to help it, it's all over. I havent died in the game once until this point but its proving very difficult, at least i have saves from about 4 hours before, thats better than starting from the beginning at least.
what is your characters party damage contrabution??? seems like it would be like 2 precent lol..... but i always hug the walls and let the dwarves take the bulk of the spawn and the archdemon always attacks me and killes my healer first...help???

(brecillian forest) and buy a hella lot of flasks + distilitation agent from the party camp and make a hella lot of heal polutices? or greater health polutices if you add concentrator agents

God damn it... Today On my level 20 mage I was getting ready 2 fite archdemon... had spent over 59 hours on this character on nightmare difficuty... All of a sudden my save file gets corrupted... this happen 2 any1 else???

use the ballista while your team mates are meeling it and heal them with poltices as much as possible, and when it goes to the island thing, go to the part of the place were you can go between two ballistas without going onto the basic platform, and kill the horde that attacks you from there, and than all four of you attack it up close once the horde is gone
i dident kill the generals but back b4 update i duped quite a few mortal tomes and had like 300 constitution like 200 str and stuff so it was easy even on nightmare

I was really disappointed with this game after the first playthrough. I downloaded all of the extra content in an effort to keep playing my first rogue that I made.. but the game just cuts off the ability to travel to any previous places from the quests shipped with the game. Gives it pretty much no replay value for me.
What kind of tatics did you have Wyne on? I've read that you should have her pay attention to certain characters more than others. Also, did you kill the generals before doing this? Does it make a difference if they are both dead?

@GurNadekillz get wynne in your party and have her learn haste - it doubles the speed of you attacks and should make it easier. She is also the best healer and can revive party members.
currently struggling alot with this.. mainly cus my party selection is terrible. I have morrigan, sten, loghain and me (blood mage). I can get the demon down to half health no problem, it's when the huge mob come out that I have problems.. i've tried killing them off until they stop spawning (do they even stop spawning?) but loghain is terrible! I can't leave him for 20 seconds without him dying... once he dies sten isn't long after, and it's usually me and morrigan trying to fight off huge mobs
@lordjoey88 I am with you there man. I have myself (arcane warrior/aoe caster), morrigan, ohgren (spelling?), and shale. Shale takes hardly any damage and I can get it down to 50% fine but then when the mob comes I got nothing. I use my aoe's on the archdemon and then my char and morrigan die so fast
Ugh thi is too damn hard for me...I may just give up << I got 2 warriors my pc and Alistair...got Shale and Morrigan. Even if I use my armies im always getting swarmed by all the other darkspawn and thats how I end up dying..
This battle was epic for me I had Sten, Loghain and my Hero battling the AD, and had Morrigan firing the Ballista at it and using spells took me a good while to beat it down but in like the last 10 minutes of the fight everyone but my Hero died and so I fought with the Archdemon head on for 10 minutes and I fucking won just before i died.
this is extremely frustrating because my party set up is bad for this boss, me(2H dps warrior) allistair, shael, morrigan. i cant use anyone besides morrigan because if i dont control her she runs off right in his face and gets killed, and i cant kill the mobs

Alistair is a dumbass. Simple as that. When im playing alistair is getting hit by one person and everyone else is taking on ten of them and he dies but no one else does.
Yeah, the console is noticeably easier... but the AI doesn't change (if it does, it's minimal and I didn't notice a difference in AI), so the same basic tactics work.
@FrankNStein Yeah the PC version would have to be much harder, ive seen vids of the PC version, you have an intire hotbar in pc and in the console one you only have 6 slots for spells.
@tarheelskk it would have to be harder simply because controls are easier than console.... but ultimately i'd say in the end to win its harder on console overall... like usual

I didn't really have wynne setup for strategic healing here....
I had her & my main character (both SH/AW) tanking the boss, and throwing out a group heal whenever they had the mana.... that's about it.
And no... I didn't kill all of the generals, I just avoided most of the spawn by hugging the walls while my army distracted them. =P

setting her to passive would keep her from running up to them..... but it will also keep her from helping unless you have her tactics set.
Or if you equip her with ranged weapons she'll still fight, but keep her distance.
