Facts..They combined 2009 BCR and the other spring break to get two hectic events over with and also an effort to have to separate races "come together".

Also who blew up the hotel? Not black people..Who murdered those girls in Daytona? Not black people.. These events happened during the spring break that mainly white people go to NOT during BCR. So if you want to get technical...White people have ruined it. Oh yeah..who has the most cases of underage drinking and vandalism? Not black people...

I grew up in Daytona and I can tell you that the reason the city has had problems with BCR was not the race of the people but the numbers. All the black colleges let out on the same week and that meant that BCR had five times the number of people. The sensitivity about race meant that people would view the doubling of police officers as profiling, it was not. It was necessary because there were more people. BCR's current problems are with the people promoting it I'm told.

every year,usually the last week of spring break it's the annual black college reunion or so it's called, lol, actually it's just lots of blacks going down to party, and the first week of spring break up until St. pattty's day it's more whites and bikers, sorry to be a realist but the backs coming down are ruining Spring Break. Constant trouble, the PD are even complaining. give it another 3 years and I think that will stop. the city is pooring millions into beautifying the city and boardwalk.

Unfortunately the negative comments about Daytona posted here are true. They had a gold mine back in the MTV days, but rather than keep it under control and manage it the city decided to ask MTV not to return in the late 80s because they felt it was "getting out of hand". Imagine throwing away all that free publicity! I lived there for 2 years in the late 90s and it was pretty bad, things seemed to have improved a little since my last visit, but not much.
