He is properly warming it up. Two stroke engines have a different warm up sequene than 4 strokes. Also this bike has no electric starter or kick start so they have to push it for a running start.
@phatcow27 hard to say, some times i have the same opinion, but depends the models, Suzuki is allways strongher than yamaha in speed bikes, and Honda CRs and Elsinores in cross 2 streokes kick both yamaha and suzuki....Even with kawasaki KX, is difiucult to say. yamaha is nice any way.
2-stroke gp bikes have no idle circuit (they will not run if you do not turn the throttle). they need to be warmed up before they can be run, or they can seize. the only way to warm them up, is to blip the throttle. on my 125, and most newer gp bikes, with powerjet carbs, you have to keep the revs up, or the powerjet will foul the plug. usually you start out around 4-5000 rpm, then bring the revs up as the water temp rises. once i hit 50 centigrade on the temp gauge, i'm good to go.
How else are you supposed to warm up a race spec 250 2T? These things are setup for wide open throttle at peak revs!!! Leave this to tick over and it'll foul the plugs!! And I think youll find the motors are setup tolerance wise for this kinda abuse...oh and the 500 mile strip downs help as well

Either, A.) he is an idiot for warming it up like that and begging for a piston seize. Or, B.) we are dumb for assuming it is being warmed up at the moment and wasn't already warm? he is at a track but who knows, opefully its B cuz its a sweet bike :-)
if you knew anything about 2-strokes you would know that you have to warm up 2 strokes for awhile before you can properly ride it, at least thats what i hope he is doing.
I thought it was best to let it warm up slowly and naturaly rather then forcing the engine to warm up by revving it, which may damage the carbs? i could be wrong..
ya thats what they say, but i rarely see ppl do that, i dont do it either and nothing bad has ever happen so i dont think it makes a difference especially if you ride really fast because 2-strokes need thier engines rebuild every 1-3 years.
I didnt know they made 2 storke street/race bikes

Why is there a pipe connected on his fuel tanks?
Does it serve any purpose?
kokkikok 1 year ago
@kokkikok Its a breather pipe. Fuel expands as it gets warm and shaken about, so the tank has a pipe to displace there air :-)

That is how you warm up a 2 stroke. Don't comment unless you have a clue about what you are talking about.

Well said.
Its pretty easy to tell who knows what they are talking about. rgv250wales is spot on.
These engines are not as "tight" with tolerances as is the case with 4 strokes. They are in fact more likely to "nip up" as they say while hot.
