  • I thought engines were supposed to perform better in the cold? The air is more dense so more oxygen is getting to the engine... this is how nitrous oxide works.

  • @abbas224 - the air being cold is ok, it's just the rest of the engine parts &fluids that hate cold. Hence why the engine sounded more like a lawnmower when I first started it.

  • @landongendur put a winter thermostat in it and put a carpet infront of the radiator

  • @josh131987 - There was some cardboard blocking the front grill. Unfortunately a new thermostat won't work because the engine coolant still needs to circulate in order for the heater to work. I now drive a '91 Tercel and even though its engine is 50% larger, it still has the same warmup issues :(

  • @landongendur what a winter thermostat does is it allows the coolant to warm up more before it lets it through so the air coming out will be warmer

  • @josh131987 - you mean it prevents the coolant from circulating before the engine is fully warmed up?

  • @landongendur ive have a metro and a fire fly and i had a swift and sprint they are all the same car made by suzuki there are both the hatchback and sedan versions the hatchback has a 3 cylinder engine the sedan has a 4 cylinder engine ive owned both and none of them have done what your saying in the movie

  • @landongendur and i live in stoon

  • It was so cold and the Geo metro only comes with a 3 cylender moter so it would take a long time to warm up at that cold.

I have 3 Geo's I live in Alberta and they give me good heat for that small moter.

  • A good thing to do especially for a car driven in freezing temps is an electric fan which is more efficient and doesn't rob as much power from the motor. I plan on it for my truck, along with lower gears and a tune so I can squeexe the most life I can from the current small block.

  • That was pretty funny. Nice commentary

  • Damn I used to have a Chevrolet Sprint that was like that I always had to let it warm up for a few minutes so I could shift

  • The shifter was definitely feeling like it was encased in molasses!

  • Let it idle for at least 5 minutes when it's freezing or colder when you start it, don't just fire it up and go. The oil lubricates better and is thinner when it's warm so it doesn't sludge up as easy. It's the easiest thing you can do to prolong the life of your car's engine.

  • Truth...doing othwise could prove fatal to the engine and gearbox over time.

  • 20 minutes!

  • You need a remote start and heavy duty engine block heater, so you can warm up fast and have it warm by the time youve finished getting ready.

  • ours almost has a million miles on it lol

  • Holy smoke! And the engine has never been rebuilt?

  • no the engine was never rebuilt.

  • I know how you feel...lol. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan right on Lake Superior, and today its -20 Degrees C, and my 1991 Buick Lesabre acts the same way...lol

  • Ugh, it's so cold today here right now. -27*C without the wind-chill. I pretty much resorted to wearing a snowmobile helmet with a face mask whenever I have to walk long distances outside in this weather.

  • i really do like your videos on the metro..i was going to buy one, but ended up with a '95 honda civic..ummm..can i ask you a question not related..are you circumsized or intact.. just curious since you're canadian...thanks!!

  • your fucked in the head i didnt watch all of the vids i am just showing some of my friends how fuckin gay these are your dad musta raped you as a kid didnt he thats where you got your gayness .

  • I honestly find your comments to be amusing :)

  • your fucked i hate you your gayboy and i dont kno why you waste your time making these gayboy vids get a job dumbass

  • Interesting how you keep watching. You may as well subscribe to my channel :P

Maybe I should work at your employer so we can see each other everyday! ;)

  • your a FUCKIN LONER PIECE OF SHIT FUCK YOU , YOU MAKE THESE GAYASSS VIDEOS WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO THID YOU DUMB SHIT FUCK AND IN THE VIDEO YOU SOUND GAY AS FUCK

  • Awe, look! Someone wants a friend *pokes with a stick* :)

  • let the car warm up befor you drive and maybe it will last a few more months

  • That's just the thing though: I could let the car idle for hours and it would never warm up. It's only until the engine is revving at 4000+ rpm.

  • did you ever try changing your thermostat or are you just a dumbass

  • What would be wrong with the thermostat?

  • could be stuck and since it was so cold it didnt open to let coolant through your heater core

  • The heater worked fine when the engine finally warmed up at the end of the video. However, the temperature needle would drop all the ay back down if the car sat idling for just a few minutes.

  • 280,000 kilometers ?(170,000 miles ish).... i thought the motors in them things were kinda short lived. like, not much over 100,000 miles. interesting.

  • No way, those 3 cylinders run forever! You can't kill them.

  • my geo has 378 thousand kilometers and still runs perfect

  • Youre retarded you let the car warm up before you drive it! and never let your gas tank to go below 1/4 to 1/2.

  • The car's engine is so small and it was so cold that even if I left it idling for 1 hour, it wouldn't even be close to warm.

Either way it doesn't matter. I haven't owned a car since June :P

  • your a fuckin idiot the engine is gonna warm up if you let it no matter the size dont you think that a bigger engine would take longer to warm up cause it is bigger i own a 92 geo and it warms up fine

  • Umm, did you not watch the video. I was *driving* the car for 1/2 hour and it was not even close to being warm. It wasn't until I revved the crap out of it when it finally warmed up.

  • Hate to tell you but he's right, even a tiny 3 cylinder engine SHOULD warm up at idle, you need to get it checked out.

  • What would be wrong that would cause it to not warm up?

  • @SolomonJonesIsBack Its probably not warming up because of a thermostat valve that is stuck open.

  • Why do you incorrectly state that Winnipeg is the coldest place other than Antarctica? There's the Yukon, NWT, Nunavut, northern Manitoba (Churchill), northern SK, AB, ON and QC, Greenland, North pole, etc. I can go on. Ulan Bator, or Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia with an average temp. of -1.3 C and over 1,000,000 in population is the coldest place/city in the world. Edmonton is also one of the coldest places in the world with a population of over 1,000,000. You should get your facts straight guy.

  • I need not to worry about facts since this is my opinion I'm talking about. I even conveniently add a disclaimer by adding "probably" to my statement in the video :P

  • winnipeg is the coldest city of over 100,000 in the world

  • Hey seinfeld120 you stupid MORON. Winnipeg is NOT the "coldest place over 100,00 in the world". Ulan Bator, in Mongolia with an average temp. of -1.3 C and over 1,000,000 in population is the coldest place/city in the world. Edmonton is also one of the coldest places in the world with a population of over 1,000,000.

Youi need to research your facts before you post and look like an ass you piece of crap!

  • i was actually referring to the city though not people in the general area of it and edmonton is not 1,000,000 i was referring as 175,000 in winnipeg not the entire metropolitan area

  • Dude, Winnipeg is not 175,000 people. More like 650,000 not including metro. Edmonton is around 780,000 not including metro. I should know I've lived in both cities.

  • dude youre a fucking idiot only downtown, westside, northside, weston, west brodway, wolseley, osborne village, cordon strip is winnipeg proper. the rest is just suburbs as in the metro you stupid fucking little shit. if you ever been youd know how stupid all you suburbanites defending that south st. vital should be added in every count while no other city in the world adds the metro in the proper city count

  • I'll get the thermostat checked out. Thanks for the tip.

  • Oh wow. I never thought of that. That makes sense since there would be less moving parts to a 3 cylinder opposed to a 4.

  • 174,535.8 miles. Damn dude, my grand am has no oil pressure when its that cold and it has 140,000.

  • No kidding. The japanese somehow engineered the engine to last virtually forever, even after abuse. Too bad I can't really say the same for the rest of the car ;)

  • why dont you let it warm up 10 or 15 minutes before driving it? its a tiny little piece of junk. im surprised it started at all and didnt break down.

  • The engine won't warm up at idle at all. It will stay on the "C" mark even if idling for an hour. It only warms up while driving or at rpms above about 3000 (you can see that the temperature gauge actually goes down at the stoplight at 8:10).

I'm planning to sell the car once gas in Canada reaches $5 a gallon this summer and living completely without a car by the end of May.

  • my '97 metro's heater starts to warm up after 4 to 5 minutes at idle.

  • reving at redline = over-revving, engine damage, future oil burning, possible engine blow-out.

  • You would think (that's how my Fiero and Oldsmobile 88 got its demise) but the Geo just keeps going and going!

  • Iv driven my 1997 Metro (3cyl) in 4F (-15.5C) it drove as it would normally drive in warmer weather. AFTER! i waited for the car to warm up and defrost the windshield in the parking spot it was in. and like szutsg said its not just bad idea, it could ruin your engine in the long run if you keep driving the car in winter with out letting it warm up first. and that revving you did at around 9:25 was also not a good idea and bad for the engine. you were past the rpm redline.

  • The strange thing about my car is that even when it's fully warmed up, if I park the car in idle, the temperature gauge will go all the way down to the 'C' mark. At stop lights I need to keep the car stopped with the hand-brake and rev the engine about 3000 rpm to prevent it from cooling off.

  • An electric heater is a great idea. I wonder why they don't equip all cars that experience winter with them.
