Actually, I've rather chosen the infiltration way but the pistols skill is the most important, especially for the boss. I suppose it's the same problem than in Deus Ex : Human Revolution : the game is harder during the boss fights, especially if you're not specialized in combat. So, careful with the choice of the difficulty. ;)
If you follow my advice, I think you should enjoy the game without problem. :D
@pricture If you hurry to level the weapons skills, yes. If you don't, the enemies are pretty bulletproof. But there is the same RPG aspect that you can find in Mass Effect and Deus Ex, yes. And the storytelling and dialogues are even better than in the first Mass Effect, in my opinion.
My favourite spy game. The low score on metacritic is just ridiculous, i finished this game 3 times, I had a really great time with it. In comparison, I started playing Mass Effect 2 like 3 times but I wasn't able to finish it, because after a while a lost my interest in that game. RPG mechanics and nonlinearity are absolutely awesome in Alpha Protocol.

Well, Splinter Cell where the A.I. has wall hacks and your vision is so near sighted you can't shoot anything beyond a couple of meters. I.E. one of the most aggrevating pieces of flaming shits to have ever graced the gaming community. It also has more bugs and glitches than a game that is...well....unfinished. Its fans will defend it, but don't expect the developers to.

The only thing than kill this game ARE the awful controls and animatios. The gun fights are a joke, there are like 6 terrosits and u run direct to them in a strom of bullets, taking little to none damage, and punch them in the face, one by one.
The stealh ability than u gain latter in the game TURNS YOU INVSIBLE!! FOR GOD SAKE! thats what stealh means for they. i played for 3 hrs and dont like it, i gave it a second chance and still sucks. this was a great letdown. SAVE YOUR MONEY, DONT BUY IT
Dude I was so wrong about this game...it's actually kinda fun once you get the hang of things and I played it all the way through. I rate it a 6/10. Not the greatest, but a decent game

I just played this game yesterday, and it is a fucking abomination. I love spy/espionage games like AC1 and 2, Splinter Cell, COD, etc. but my god this game is horrible. The aiming system is pathetic, even on easy I had to fire at least 7 or 8 shots before they would hit a guy directly in my crosshairs. The mini-games are worse, I nearly threw my controller though the TV because of the lock-picking and hacking games. Overall just about the worst game I've ever played.

@askashrub What I meant is that the Modern Warfare games definitely do have espionage elements in them such as going on top-secret missions and there being enemy intel for players to collect. I will admit that the MW games are not full-blown spy/espionage games, but they definitely have those elements in them.
Obviously they forgot to check up on bond, MGS, and splinter cell just to name a few modern stealth games lol. Sry i couldnt resist poking fun at that line XD
@MisterWefan i think they copied a bit of david cages work, he made the game indigo prophecy for the ps2 which lets u make decisions on what to say and what levels go first. PC Gamer gave this game a raving PC Game Full play through overview. Which is basically a review without giving it a score. The Senior Editor Evan Lahti of PC Gamer was the one who wrote the Play Through and said it was the closest game yet to a Game Action Movie and the 5 second time limit on coversation really spices up the game elements. I am currently playing it, and to be honest, so far so good. Its a fun interesting game that keeps you wanting to find out the next part of the story!

I thought this game was brilliant...it deserved more than all this ire. Granted, the console versions sucked balls and the AI was a piece of shit and a side of bacon, but overall it was a good game - stealth was so overpowered, though. I also liked to see in this game at least you'd have to put a lot of AP into a weapon proficiency before being any good with it.
It is no way near worth the 49 euro i gave for it.
Got bored after playing the first mission, horrible controls, not a catching story at all and it was supposed to be a spionage game, but before you know it, bullets fly everywhere, not stealthy at all.

Rented the game. It's definitely not the best I've played. I thought it was going to be a lot better. The controls are awful.. I don't know how many bullets it takes to kill people but headshots were hard to pull off and long shots are near impossible..
the controls are very bad..i have my mouse sensitivity set to low during gunfights but it takes me ages to look around then..i cant even see where the hell im going half the time..VERY LAME GAMEPLAY..game looks good though..

I don't see what everyone is complaining about. It wasn't the BEST game I've ever played, but I still thought it was awesome. Never had any trouble understanding the story, never had problems with controls, glitches etc..
The choices and consequences of your actions are really visible, and very diverse (in my opinion), so I gave this game an 8/10. I gave Hitman: Blood Money the same score, and the games are in my opinion equally fun.
But as Yahtzee said, the main character is a major ponce.
A Warning to you all:I got this game and its not as good as you might think. the controls are a bit stupid and the game just ends too soon, the weapon mods look the same, the graphics didn't bother me as much, but the combat just doesn't feel right. the game should have been made into a free-roam type of game or at least make it so you can repeat missions. @gomez751 yeah buy med pack upgrade 2 and stock up on med packs, get toughness up, martial arts and assaults rifles as they the best ones to get in my opinion and buy some sub sonic rounds for ur assault rifle and basically shoot and heal when u need to, also use the iron will skill which will increases health..

Oblivion is just crap,,, , unlike arena or daggerfall the dungeons are a joke, plus it has about as many bugs as Alpha protocol, no deep character interaction or meaningful choices, have you ever played a real rpg? baldurs gate, planescape, fallout 1&2, kotor 1&2, even neverwinter nights 1 & 2.
As i said, Alpha protocol is good plus, to true rpg`ers, graphics are not that important.
i just finished the game. the story line is nice and i got in bed with one the the women in teh game. i enjoeyd the fact that i had the option to talk spare lifes or execute someone. gameplay its good for the items you can get and dosiers, but the fight i was expecting something much better. what concerned me more was that everytime the game reached a checkpoint or some short of loading process it messes up with the camera, which come very annoying at some point.
@shoesfx yeah you have to open the .ini files to fix all that shits, its really a shame, but after you go thru that the games runs a lot better and its actually easy to do exacly what you want and how you want it (its still a bitch to aim, you have to actually get better at playing it to solve that).
IT WILL TAKE MORE....than just the will to copy splinter cell....IDK, but SEGA games still suck, when it comes to gameplay. No smoothness, no glamour....They may have a good story, but its just a lame product. bland voice actors who don't care what their saying. outdated graphics. The shooting sucked so much i would just run up n punch them in the face. The pro reviewers have got this one all wrong. It's not bad at all. No other game has offered so much freedom to the player to push the story in different directions. As for the gameplay, it's on the same level as the original Mass Effect. Maybe not the most streamlined of RPG/shooter hybrids, but damn fun no matter how you build your character. And I don't know if the pro reviewers were playing an early copy or what, but the "bugs" they complain about are nonexistent.
I just think this game sucks. I'm sorry, I know some people are going to get mad at me, but it just sucks. It's like Splinter Cell Conviction and Metal Gear Solid put together (in a bad way). And I'm not talking about MGS: Guns of the Patriots. I'm talking about Metal Gear Solid for the PS1. Don't get me wrong, it has a good storyline, but it's just the gameplay.

I just played this game yesterday, and it is a fucking abomination. I love spy/espionage games like AC1 and 2, Splinter Cell, COD, etc. but my god this game is horrible. The aiming system is pathetic, even on easy I had to fire at least 7 or 8 shots before they would hit a guy directly in my crosshairs. The mini-games are worse, I nearly threw my controller though the TV because of the lock-picking and hacking games. Overall just about the worst game I've ever played.

@askashrub What I meant is that the Modern Warfare games definitely do have espionage elements in them such as going on top-secret missions and there being enemy intel for players to collect. I will admit that the MW games are not full-blown spy/espionage games, but they definitely have those elements in them.

@MisterWefan i think they copied a bit of david cages work, he made the game indigo prophecy for the ps2 which lets u make decisions on what to say and what levels go first. HE also ,made the game HEAVY RAIN for the ps3 which kicked ass probably more than this game but still i loves this game regardless of the graphics i just loved the story.\
we all know CEll and Bond weren't RPG's but still don't you think that it had a sort of resemblance in a way? getting the girl saving the world etc.

PC Gamer gave this game a raving PC Game Full play through overview. Which is basically a review without giving it a score. The Senior Editor Evan Lahti of PC Gamer was the one who wrote the Play Through and said it was the closest game yet to a Game Action Movie and the 5 second time limit on coversation really spices up the game elements. I am currently playing it, and to be honest, so far so good. Its a fun interesting game that keeps you wanting to find out the next part of the story!

I thought this game was brilliant...it deserved more than all this ire. Granted, the console versions sucked balls and the AI was a piece of shit and a side of bacon, but overall it was a good game - stealth was so overpowered, though. I also liked to see in this game at least you'd have to put a lot of AP into a weapon proficiency before being any good with it.

I bought it, and i have one thing to say.
It is no way near worth the 49 euro i gave for it.
Got bored after playing the first mission, horrible controls, not a catching story at all and it was supposed to be a spionage game, but before you know it, bullets fly everywhere, not stealthy at all.

Rented the game. It's definitely not the best I've played. I thought it was going to be a lot better. The controls are awful.. I don't know how many bullets it takes to kill people but headshots were hard to pull off and long shots are near impossible..

I don't see what everyone is complaining about. It wasn't the BEST game I've ever played, but I still thought it was awesome. Never had any trouble understanding the story, never had problems with controls, glitches etc..
The choices and consequences of your actions are really visible, and very diverse (in my opinion), so I gave this game an 8/10. I gave Hitman: Blood Money the same score, and the games are in my opinion equally fun.
But as Yahtzee said, the main character is a major ponce.

A Warning to you all:I got this game and its not as good as you might think. the controls are a bit stupid and the game just ends too soon, the weapon mods look the same, the graphics didn't bother me as much, but the combat just doesn't feel right. the game should have been made into a free-roam type of game or at least make it so you can repeat missions. If you plan on buying this game, don't make the same mistake that I made, wait a few mouths-buy it used-and save your money for better games!

@gomez751 yeah buy med pack upgrade 2 and stock up on med packs, get toughness up, martial arts and assaults rifles as they the best ones to get in my opinion and buy some sub sonic rounds for ur assault rifle and basically shoot and heal when u need to, also use the iron will skill which will increases health..

Oblivion is just crap,,, , unlike arena or daggerfall the dungeons are a joke, plus it has about as many bugs as Alpha protocol, no deep character interaction or meaningful choices, have you ever played a real rpg? baldurs gate, planescape, fallout 1&2, kotor 1&2, even neverwinter nights 1 & 2.
As i said, Alpha protocol is good plus, to true rpg`ers, graphics are not that important.

i just finished the game. the story line is nice and i got in bed with one the the women in teh game. i enjoeyd the fact that i had the option to talk spare lifes or execute someone. gameplay its good for the items you can get and dosiers, but the fight i was expecting something much better. what concerned me more was that everytime the game reached a checkpoint or some short of loading process it messes up with the camera, which come very annoying at some point.
the story was nice thou.

IT WILL TAKE MORE....than just the will to copy splinter cell....IDK, but SEGA games still suck, when it comes to gameplay. No smoothness, no glamour....They may have a good story, but its just a lame product. I would buy it at our local supermarket for 1,99... and i dont buy those games, because they suck so bad, it`s better to go outside and watch the grass growing.

To much hacking computers n bypassing doors n picking locks bypassing alarms to shut them off. Hacking computers makes me want to puke with all the numbers flashing. if you like this game you may have some kind of a mental problem you might want to have that checked out.

The pro reviewers have got this one all wrong. It's not bad at all. No other game has offered so much freedom to the player to push the story in different directions. As for the gameplay, it's on the same level as the original Mass Effect. Maybe not the most streamlined of RPG/shooter hybrids, but damn fun no matter how you build your character. And I don't know if the pro reviewers were playing an early copy or what, but the "bugs" they complain about are nonexistent.

I just think this game sucks. I'm sorry, I know some people are going to get mad at me, but it just sucks. It's like Splinter Cell Conviction and Metal Gear Solid put together (in a bad way). And I'm not talking about MGS: Guns of the Patriots. I'm talking about Metal Gear Solid for the PS1. Don't get me wrong, it has a good storyline, but it's just the gameplay.
