  • Such racism I can read here should stay out of the martial arts!

Don't forget japan is one of the younger asian cultures compared to the chinese, burmese, thai and many more (even korean).

I don't know what martial art of which country was copied by whom and it doesn't bother me. If it would, I (and all others) would have to go back to the roots and train kalaripayattu from india and similar styles.

The kor. are not the founders of MA nor the jap. are! So TRAIN HARD and STOP ARGUING!

  • @FireWarlock Do all the German cultures come from ancient Rome or Greek civilization? Isn't it important to understand the difference between French and England culture?

  • Koreans are spreading fabricated stories like Kendo originated from Korea everywhere in the world.... Japan Expo in Paris is an example.

  • @japantruthify01 You may be right to SOME extend, but you're being fanatical. Unless you only want to attract lunatics to your cause (whatever it may be), then you shouldn't behave like one.

  • @japantruthify01 typical korean

  • This is the method of KOREAN NATIONALISM.

They disguise other country’s distinctive cultures as they were originated in Korea, make up a video in which a beautiful plastic girl appears, put it on YouTube, and make a good comment pretending to be an American.

  • CAUTION!!

Gumdo is a Korean of KENDO reading.

And the KENDO historically has the origin in Japan.

When the KENDO is a Korea origin, they are fabricating it !!

They also are fabricating a story to them own advantage that all Japanese culture

    are Korean origins !!

    Everybody of intelligent foreigner !

    PLEASE DO NOT CHEAT !!

  • Why do you accuse the Korea martial arts of the imitation?

If an imitation copies brands such as Vuitton or Armani, and an imitation forges it with a genuine article, and a monkey business, can you be angry?

All of you wanting to be the world martial arts do not be deceived.

Only Japan has the genuine samurai and martial arts.

  • The Korean forges Korea samurai and why does talk?

As a reason, the Korean history had only the miserable, poor history as China and the dependency and colony of Japan.

I longed racial glory and insisted on the origin of the Japanese samurai out of vanity and found honor and a position.

I understand that there was not a samurai in Korea if I examine the Korean history.

  • It is monkey business to insist on the Korea samurai and martial arts without a Korean having existed.

It is a fact that Korea was a dependency of Chinese 明、清 for a long time in 李氏朝鮮 Korea.

There are not society background and the base which there is a samurai.

  • There is not the Korean fact that the samurai existed in history.

There is neither the society scenery created historically nor the inevitability.

Though there is not the base which existed, the person forging Korea samurai spreads a lie.

I imitate a Japanese samurai and divert castles of Japan to their HP and develop the false martial arts that I forged for an image of Japan.

  • Too bad.

Sword, wielding one-handed use in a manner not.

Kendo was introduced from Japan, but, why I degrade.

Bounce or jump on a wooden sword, but with not action movies.

Additional copies are ninjas and samurai sushi sadou · manga · judo.

From Japanese and overseas fake to everyone please be careful.

This country, so China was a vassal state, history has oppressed, there is no culture of their country.

In recent years Japan has been copied to a national culture.

  • Thank you for a good video to prove Koreans are liars and frauds. It should be kept in museums all over the world as a historical evidence for the Korean fabricating culture.

  • why so many dislikes???

  • The reason that Japanese people think Gumdo is a problem is that Korean people's assertions about the history of Gumdo are thoroughly deceptive.

    Please google the words below;

"Why does "kumdo" tell a lie ?"

There are explanations about this problem both in English and Japanese.

  • Poor Corea

  • The martial arts in Korea, the fencing are only a joke, funny stories.

Korean expresses a Japanese samurai, the image of the samurai by original interpretation.

Will there be a solution in the meaning that a Japanese samurai brushed a hakama on?

    日本人より。

  • haha even I can screw the shit out of them by a Japanese sword.

  • if you want know about Gumdo more, you can watch

    watch?v=hG6tqGGZW8Y

    or

    watch?v=iFBo-Zs_Dp8

  • So one might say Kendo and Gumdo has the same origins kind of. And the fact that no one had, previous to 20th century, gathered the same style of teachings of the ways to attack and defend oneself under a school or anything doesn't mean that Koreans didn't have anything on their own and have copied everything from others. But I might be mistaken and if I am never mind me then :D

  • If I'm not mistaken it's not the shape of the sword that makes katana unique and Japanese rather than it's the method of production, the way to incorporate steel that's hard and sharp on the edge while maintaining the flexability on the back. The slightly curvy single-edge style of swords in looks isn't really anything unique to Japanese. On the matter of who came up with what and when weren't much of Japan migrated by Koreans before any major original culture had been established?

Peongchang(Korean city) has applied 2018 winter Olympics.

These Koreans are fabricating the origin of kendo, and despising sports.

  • South Korea begins to copy the Japanese martial arts from the late 20th century. Individual martial arts was not developed in the Joseon Dynasty(Korea). Taekwondo, Haidong Gumdo, Kumdo, Hapkido, Yudo is nothing to the history of Korea.

Taekwondo copied the Shotokan Karate. Haidong Gumdo and Kumdo copied Kenjutsu and Kendo. Hapkido copied the Daitoryu Jujutsu and Aikido. Yudo copied Judo. Hwa Rang Do is not historical martial arts. Hwa Rang is dancer in the Silla and Kogryo Dynasty.

  • @unkeihokusai Who the fuck is interested in history, if the sport is a nice one?

  • The imitation that the Korea martial arts imitated a Japanese samurai, the martial arts.

The samurai is not in the Korean Peninsula in history.

The postwar original martial arts that imitated appearance and the form of the Japanese style martial arts.

The Korean fencing that there is not the samurai using the Japanese sword of the music sword single edge in the Korean Peninsula is the ceremony of straight sword double-edged dance.

  • korean funny sideshow

  • Foolish South Korean. Thief South Korean. Deceitful Korea.

  • Korea had been a dependency of China for 1000 years long. Slave nation did not any

skill of sword. Kum-do is also Japanese Kendo's fake.

  • A Korean insists on the origin of the Japanese samurai mimicking the martial arts recently.

It is forgery of the origin with an imitation.

There is not at all the social system and background that a samurai and a samurai group are formed in history in the Korea dynasty, and develop.

Both the existing document and the documents have nothing.

A samurai cannot exist in Korea.

  • @bergamot5599 Please watch this video watch?v=ZPNtVRdQyk4&feature=youtu.be Then talk about Plunering of cultures. Why can't you Neo Nazi Japanese Nationalists leave HDGD alone and mind your own business? You would think with everything going on in Japan you guys would have better things to do.

  • No. This is a downgrade copy of the Tate.

It seems to be a beginning that Haidon kumudo was used in a Korean movie of the 1980s.

  • Kendo 剣道 (Way of Sword) is a “Japanese” traditional martial art, which was established, developed, cherished, and handed down by Japanese Samurai warriors and hence is unique only to Japan. “GUMDO” is merely a Korean translation of the Japanese word, “Kendo.” It was brought by Japanese to Korea during the annexation period

    (1910-1945).

  • Why so many of you Japanese racists give such a bad name to all Japanese by doing things like this. Do you believe you invented walking too? Stupid to think China, Korea, & Japan did not exchange martial knowledge as well as other knowledge with each other due to their proximity and wars fought between each other. Why can't you just respect good skill and the hard work that goes into achieving that skill?

  • What a fantastic demonstration. I pity you Korean detractors and your propaganda

  • I turn and why am a kung fu movie?

  • Korean Gumdo is very dangerous art, since they let children hold wooden swords

or imitation Katana easily. In Japan we can't use its easily till master give the pardon.why Kendo use bamboo sword?since even just wooden or imitation sword can kill.if the children kill other people slily, could you accept the blame?

Korean Gumdo show the brassy performances and get many student and money teaching in hazard without any definite knowledge.

this is serious problem for society.

  • @sakura0jp0aikidodesu I wouldn't say that for all. The one Hiadong Gumdo instructor I know only offers the classes to those that have more then a few years in his TKD classes. I think the skill and control needed for either sword skill is very impressive.... but I'm just a gaijin.

  • @Lassionbabe

Hi,i am learning Aikido and Iaido a little of bit.

why Japanese are confused to Korean Gumdo ....pls image that if Japanese swing around rapier that French fencing sword like cheerleading with dressing English kelt, and then the playing would be popular and spread in many country....

  • @Lassionbabe

suddenly the Japanese make public like that "Japacing is Japanese traditional martial art,and Kelt is Japanese wear originally!!"or "even if Japacing art is similar to French fencing,it is different art originally since Japanese fencing doesn't wear any protect."

Korean fabricate like that.i am sorry for my poor English.

  • @RYO061699

I read in a book that Haidong Gum Do is based on Gicheon,

a martial art which is quite similar to Tai Ji Quan, a chinese martial art.

Just because they use swords which look like katana doesnt mean they copied the art from Japanese Iado or Kenjutsu. Haidong Gum Do is developed from other styles.

By the way ALL martial arts are in a development, so its good to know where the roots were, but for practising it becomes unimportant.

  • @RYO061699 the katana was introduced to japan through the continent(china and korea)

  • @RYO061699 r u freakin kidding me korean's fought with sword's before japan was even born in which korean history is the same date with the chinese and japan was a little colony

  • @Kleiber2004 Where is the evidence that it is a copy from China or Japan Kleiber2004? can you really absolutely proof that the Koreans just copies and do not contribute to the development of the art at all? Unless you are really sure, I suggest you do not make such outrageous claims. One little hint.....Wikipedia is not the source of all truth, just in case you have not noticed.

  • @iagahari Why Japanese angry now though it overlooked until now?

because the organizer of Japanese exposition in Paris 2011 makes a serious mistake, the show of the Haidong Gumdo has been listed.

Haidong Gumdo(in japanease called "kendo" or "aikido") use japanease KATANA or japanease SHINAI,wear Japanease HAKAMA.

Don't you think this is too much?

  • @centraltheorem2076, Oh by the way, Korea is a peace loving country and respect nature! For Japan, well what can you say about after watching these videos:

"The raping of Nanking Massacre Torture" and

"Unit 731 Japanese Torture & Human Medical Experiments 部隊の真実" videos.

I couldn't watch through these vidoes with a full stomach!!! Fucking sick bastards!

  • @centraltheorem2076, Where the fuck have you been all these years. What goes around comes around! If your proud ancestors won't own up to the truth of your disgusting behaviors in the past, then you need to look at these videos. As I speak, your feeble-minded ancestors are burning in eternal hell fire forever, you nonsensical pussy bastard! So, go right ahead you dipshit, glorify your repugnant fucking ancestors for all I care. You will also be forever brainwashed, whale slaughtering cunt.

  • @centraltheorem2076, including so many neighboring countries wants revenge or retrobution for raping, torturing, slaughtering, persecution against humanity. Like I said before, consider you pathethic little Ainu ancestors island lucky by countless times by the Mongols and Chinese invasion. You japs should be thankful for the harsh weather by the ocean and unforgiving typoons.

  • @centraltheorem2076, I could careless about what your little midget ass Ainu island monkeys think about Koreans and don't you bring up Chinese people. You shameless war criminals will burn in hell for all your evil deeds and you have the adacity to bring up your disgusting behaviors of your ancestors. "I will spit and shit on your fucking ancestors grave, you fucking piece of shit!" So many nations look down on your jap history by showing pity of your shameless past. Chinese people and Koreans

  • @centraltheorem2076, tell that to your pathethic lying ancestors who slaughtered and burned innocent people in WWII. You're simply brainwashed. You hypocrite jap bastard and stop your bullshit. I think your parents taught you to lie and cheat about your shameless culture. Look up "The raping of Nanking Massacre Torture" and if you still sucking on your dead emperors cock, then check out the video of "Unit 731 Japanese Torture & Human Medical Experiments 部隊の真実" Fuck you, you jap bitch!

  • @centraltheorem, hey you dipshit! I really don't think your man enough realize about your dirty shameless past. If your so bent on recorrecting the originality about Martial Art then you must also comment on Brizilian Jujitsu. You fag! Fucking pussy!!! I will castrate what's left of your brave little fingers, including your shameless nuts.

  • @mrpahjun Why? Japanese people will not say nothing to Brazilians because they admit Brazilian jujitsu has been originated from judo and they never tell untruth that Brazilian jujitsu has been originated from Brazil. But Koreans are telling untruth that kendo and katana were derived from Korea. Japanese people are angry at Koreans who are telling untruth. Koreans are never respected by Japanese and Chinese people as long as they are faking Japanese and Chinese cultures.

  • @mrpahjun Please consider why Koreans have not been respected by Japanese people. You disgrace Korea and Koreans by your behavior. The fact that Koreans label "Korean" on kendo and katana is never changed if you yell out. Didn't you learn shamefulness from your kumdo teachers? Kendo teachers must teach it.

  • Why does it matter whether Haidong Gumdo is a traditional art, or whether Korea traditionally used a curved two-handed blade or not? If you like the art, enjoy this video and train hard. If you don't, show some respect and discipline to the way of the martial arts and fellow martial artists and go watch a kendo video.

  • Comment removed

  • @XoNMan1 Please don't misunderstand. Japanese are angry at Haidong people who label "Korean" on kendo and samurai swords. Japanese would say nothing if Koreans valued the long efforts by Japanese people. Koreans often claims origins of Japanese martial arts such as kendo (as kumdo), judo (as yudo), aikido (as hapkido), and so on. Why do Koreans imitate Japanese cultures inspite that they hate Japan? It's very curious. The people who do not respect the spirits of martial arts are haidong people.

  • @centraltheorem2076 It is not fair to hate on an entire style and everyone in it because some misinformed people on youtube make outrageous claims. Surely though you can understand Korea's resentment of Japan given the history. Frankly I'm not interested in any of that, but I believe every martial artist should show respect for their fellow practitioners training and hard work, and not disrespect them because of their chosen style.

  • @XoNMan1 I don't hate Koreans but I just feel sorry when watching Koreans tell untruth about the origin of their martial arts. The technique was developed by our ancestors. But Koreans are telling untruth that the technique was originated from Korea with wearing hakama and using samurai swords. In martial arts, to respect your opponents and the accomplishments by the forerunners are important. So I said they (not all but Haidong teachers) did not respect the spirits of martial arts.

  • @centraltheorem2076 ...and there would have been a time when China or Korea would have said shame shame on the Japanese for using their stuff....lol this is nothing more then a modern evolution of martial arts..its happened countless times. The one sided blade came from KOREA via CHINA and then the curve was added in japan. As to why Hakama...Well Korea WAS a colony (against their will) of Japan as you very well know. Any and ALL Korean culture was forbidden during this time.

  • @XoNMan1 Didn't you learn to look up to the works by your ancestors in the school? We Japanese people were educated that we must respect our cultures handed down by our ancestors. In addition, we were educated not to tell untruth to people. To lie was the worst in the Japanese society. If it is joyful, don't you correct a mistake?

  • この納刀の動きいつも笑える。

  • Haidong is not a hitorical existence. It is a copy of Japanese art of sword. There is no historical document recording Korean art of sword, because Korean history is not military but literary. Please be proud of Korean original and beautiful culture. You should not easily imitate neighbor's culture. Japanese people have developed the art of sword for a long time. You should not give a reason to Japanese people to ridicule you. NOW, you should become people which Japanese and Chinese can respect.

  • Why do they use Japanese swords? If they are proud of their own country's culture. They should use Korea swords.

  • @centraltheorem2076

They are using Korean swords. Given Koreas location it was/is a natural bridge between China and Japan. Sword forging spread from China to Korea to Japan (around 6-700AD). You will find many similarities between Korean and Japanese designs due to the fact that Japan accupied Korea several times. Check asian art history books and you will find that many ancient Japanese craftsmen were actually abducted Koreans. Hope this clarified things a bit.

  • @Asiaroeschti Japanese swords have been developed in Japanese islands. Sword mining technique in Japan is very different from Korean one. You don't know? Almost all Korean swords created in modern era is copy swords strongly influenced by samurai swords. Korean people should reproduce original shape of Korean swords. You should not mimic Japanese culture. Please be proud of your own country's culture. You are making your ancestors feel sad under the ground.

  • @centraltheorem2076

Check the sword designs of the Joseon Dynasty and you will notice the similiarity with the current designs. As a difference the current Haidong Gumdo swords are a bit bulkier due to the fact that the practicioners focus on cutting performances. Well, opinions are like buttholes: Everbody has one. So I will stick to my opinion, feels free to stick to yours. Feel free to drop by in Switzerland if you want to continue anyway.

  • @Asiaroeschti Traditional Korean swords don't look like Japanese swords. But the swords they have are very similar to Japanese swords. Probably they were made by copying samurai swords. Due to a part of Korean like the uploader of this video, all Koreans are fooled by Japanese. In addition, Haidong is not a historical existence. It was started recently. A lot of Asian people know that. Europeans and Americans who are not familiar with Asian culture are deceived.

  • holy shit. why isnt this popular?

  • Wow... I have never seen such thing from Korea.

    Very exciting to watch.

  • AMAZING at 8:45 i swear i almost had a heart attack that was amazing

  • Im happy because Im a white belt and can understand the meaning of haidong gumdo better than a lot of people here. I dont know who you are guys but, why arguing about something like this? Just let it be.

Korean copying Japan? Who cares? It's like music: Rock & roll copying blues?! It's just ART.

  • martial art is an ART.

    nobody owns it

    nor does a country

nor is it something that is stolen from another.

it is something that all people from every nation should be able to practice without judgement or argument.

so please lets not ruin it and just enjoy the video and appreciate the time and effort these people put into their training

  • @xxxKDHxxx Amen.

  • @xxxKDHxxx Amen.

  • @xxxKDHxxx It is a country that invented it....

  • @xxxKDHxxx oversimplification and avoidance in order to cover up plagiarism.

  • For their martial arts, a Chinese sword will be better

Because the Japanese sword is not good to swing it around

    They mistake "ken-jyutsu" for "cyanbara"

  • boys, kids,

    - all the time argue and fight who copied what !

go and learn to cut proper thick bamboo ! have fun with it and dont struggle who invented it ! cut 3 papers in a row ! learn putting out candles. there you will find ganja, you will find peace !

  • 日本のパクリじゃん。

    本当朝鮮人て気持ち悪い。

  • haidong gumdo..was created on a movie scene by a producteur in 1982..they went court..they claiming they are the original..but the korean didnt have a proof.so they lost in court!!

  • wow

  • (2) I have been a Kenjutsu practioner for 15 years now and I still see the ancient Silla influences in Gumdo style especially with the 2 swords method.....And by the way the Silla kicked the shit out of the Japanese in 663 using this style of fighting..READ YOUR HISTORY BEFORE YOU COMMENT HOLLYWOOD EXPERTS!!!!

  • @Highlandersforever my Kwonjanim in TKD said after Japan outlawed many Korean martial arts they introduced Japanese martial arts such as kendo to schools. Its popularity in Korea spread fast as part of Koreas first national physical education system. Up until end of the occupation. kumdo developed in parallel with kendo. So it had its roots in Japan. They just took the idea that was shown to them by the Japanese and made it into there own thing. So you may be a little off sir.

  • really? wow... that's kinda hard to believe... sorry been practicing kendo in a korean dojo... but what i dont understand is how do they really help in a real fight? i dont understand.

  • (1)Gumdo is not japanese it is an ancient form of martial style from the Silla warriors of the Silla kingdom now modern day korea (56 B.C - 935 A.D) the modern similarities are more in the fact that the Gumdo practitioner wears Japanese Hakama during practice WHY I HAVE NO FUCKIN IDEA? but to say it is from Japanese style is ignorant it has many similaryties I agree but most asian martial styles are very similar,

  • The same reason many styles use the Japanese style karate uniform :)..its just because it was adapted. Great post by the way

  • Gumdo and Kendo are like the same thing, but Gumdo is slightly different because it is Korean taught. It doesn't really matter if anyone's copying because all martial arts originated in India anyway.

  • I don't give a crap about what other people think. I like this video. Very nice skills.

    5 stars.

  • @onyoursidee

Please donot be fooled with these flashy moves which influcenced by Japanese samurai movies. Traditional sword fight skill from Japan, Kendo, is all about strict and skill. No dance, NO music, NO bull shits like this. It is serious thing.

And what they doing here is use Japanese katana and cloth that caught world recognition and show it as if it all belong to Korea. It is just so funny moves and without back ground of samurai history. Gumdo only started 1970s!

  • @tokyocityrat

I know ninja origin belongs to Japan. Haha is the word ninja even Korean? NO. Koreans know that - most do, anyway. You're generalizing the whole freaking nation of one or few people.

NOBODY CLAIMED THAT IT ALL BELONGED TO KOREA. What makes you think that way? It's the same as some ignorant Japanese people claiming Tae Kwon Do as being Japanese - you shouldn't generalize because of one person's ignorance, regardless of the nationality.

  • @onyoursidee

please see Chosen Ninja channel on YT.

There are so many video posts by him. His name is Greg Park. He is Korean American who sing Ninja origin belong to Korea. And also please check Gumdo website, they are saying Japanese kendo was originally from Korean Gumdo.

  • this is a demonstration so there need to be some flashy moves because of the show and for the people who are watching. Haidong Gumdo is more than those flashy moves.. just like korean tae kwon do. so don´t get mad at people who like that demonstration

  • @WhiteSAM20

These samurai-move- like flashy demo make both Kendo and Gumdo CHEAP!!! I do not know if it OK for Gumdo, but for Kendo, I do not think that's acceptable. Kendo is serious thing and it is not a show. Kendo isn't such cheap thing. You will know if you play it once and see how hart to play it. This thing is for kids play. Imagin if someone play with western swords and move like a worrier from Load of the Ring. Do you take it seriously?

  • first i ignore the gramma but, why should i PLAY kendo? and the difference between kendo and gumdo in itsself is the speed. kendo has something like one strike and finish. Gumdo is way faster and like berserk. so this video doesn´t show the truth of haidong gumdo. just like every demonstration. and demonstrations are just for publicity and for getting new members. hope u don´t forget about that ;)

  • @WhiteSAM20

First of all, I did not ask you to play Kendo.

Second, you are wrong with Kendo and Gumdo speed. How do you know without playing Kendo before? Gumdo is Korean interpretation of Kendo. And this is wrong way of publicity for getting new players, because Kendo (origin of Gumdo) isn't a show. It is "DO!" if you know what I meant with DO (道). It is like showing samurai movie actions to invite players...and these players are not serious.

  • @WhiteSAM20

Also, they should stop using and wearing Japanese Kendo equipment if Gumdo is different from Kendo. It will create confusion for those who are interested in real Japanese Kendo. What more, Korean claim Gumdo is the original of Japanese Kendo. What a joke.

  • @tokyocityrat what teacher do you have that allows you to talk like that?

  • the paer cutting is funny..i can do that with a pocket stanley blade from walmart

  • Try it with a sword. The difficulty is greater than you imagine. But it is funny to think cutting paper requires skill of any kind. There is a lesson in there for us: never to judge that what we do not yet understand. This is true of all things.

  • if i wanna show i can use a sword...i wudnt show ppl that i can cut through paper LOL

  • I rarely show anyone any of the ability I possess, as knowledge, once imparted, cannot be reclaimed. And should I meet with an adversary, I should hope them to fall before they realize their error, or my perceived skill.

  • how do u pronounce it...goomdoh or like chewing gum..gumdoh ?

  • PEOPLE THIS IS HAIDONG GUMDO. Stop uttering nonsense please. Ignorance in this world saddens me nowadays. Haidong Gumdo is indeed Korean, and Koreans are not copying anything! Jeezus. Being a martial artist myself, this is so sad to see. 해동검도 <-- Korean. For the last time! Nobody is copying anybody. People who claim that Koreans are copying Japanese and crap are usually the people who know nothing about martial arts, anyway. Probably not even white belt, ha.

  • @panda4ever12

You are wrong. Study first and then talk. If you are matial artist (I do not know what hell martial artist you are in) better know original and copy. Copy is copy. it is too obvious in front of our eyes! Just look at their cloth and swords! they do not belong to Korean traditional martial art. And its move should be inspired by Samurai movies. Not from actual samurai combats which lately become sports kendo...after all refinements in its movements.

  • @tokyocityrat

Whoa, calm down. I don't see why people are freaking out and bitching on this page. I agree with you - the clothes and swords are somewhat influenced by Japan. But would you not say the samething about every other martial art? The way they use belts, uniforms, etc. etc.? Look at Kung Fu. Tae Kwon Do. Karate.

See my point? It'd be nice to know which martial art you're in, too. I'm guessing something Japanese, with the way you're hot headly defending the Japanese side.

  • @onyoursidee

OK dude. let me take a deep breath...huuuuu.....calm downed.

Now, please get my point. They are claiming the origin. Korean said this is came from Korea while they using Katana and Japanese cloth. If they keep saying to these who have not been to exposed to Kendo, they easily believe fake story. If you look at Chosen Ninja posts in YT...then you find Korean guy claiming Ninja origin in Korea....it happens all traditional cultures of ours. SOO many Japanese are now upset.

  • @panda4ever12

Haidong Gumdo is Korean. I agree. but you have to admit they use Japanese Katana and cloth(small thing tho). If you are martial artist, Kata and tradition are very important to traditional martial arts. You can swing your fist, but without kata, it will not be counted as effectivel...as such, they should use Korean things not Japanese. That's why I call it copied Japanese Kendo. And what are those actings? And Japanese Taiko as background music?

  • They can at least do not wear Japanese cloth and stop using Japanese Katanas...if they claim it as their original. Meantime, we all know this thing was created in 1980s.

  • Comment removed

  • True traditioanl Korean swords were streight one. Much like Chinese one. And they did not hold katana like Japanese. Also Korean hold their sword grip on backword, not like Japanese who hold Katana grip on front. And they wear totally differenct cloth. In this vid, they wear Japanese cloth for some reason.

  • Thank you for making things clear to me. What you have said is true, now that you point that out. That would make this video a circus performance then would it not? I appreciate the lesson.

  • @CitizenNomad

Actually Korea have one of the best Kendo practictioners in the world. I wonder how they feel about Gumdo's flashy moves. This is more show than real martial art....which maybe more appealing to those who have not been exposed Asian swords, and easily start to think these are Japanese samurai kendo...totally fooled. That's not good way..and they aren't rooted real samurai one to one combat traditions. Not even close to real Kendo.

  • @CitizenNomad

If they apply these stupid flashy move to real kendo matches, they will be defeated in a miniutes because real kendo guys can read their flashy swings easily. Real kendo win/lose is matter of sub 1 sec, sometimes faster than 0.5 sec...there are no room for dancing swing like that...if that's their kata.

  • i'll be there in one year, i cant wait

  • love the music at 1:58, what is this? goes great to the guy doing the forms too!!!

  • Koreans may not be copying Japanese swordfighting styles, but Korean media execs have no problem copying Japanese TV programs.

Not to mention Korea does its own share of accusing Japan of certain other things. So please, enough with the "Japanese are bad" mantra. I've heard it for the last 13 years living in Korea. It's tiresome.

  • Be specific about your accusation.

Formats of TV programs are similar in all countries because we are all copying the pioneer of TV programs, the American TV.

You should accuse all countries for copying the formats of VARIETY SHOWS, TALK SHOWS, MUSIC SHOWS, GAMES SHOWS, AWARD CEREMONIES, SIT-COMS, TALENT SHOWS, NEWS PROGRAMS, NEWS MAGAZINES, from the American TV.
