  • Thom of course would hold on to that all-time record of $312,700 for 19 years until Michael Shutterly broke it by winning $500,000 on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire in 1999.

That win would pave the way for the record to shoot to the millions in 2000 and beyond, starting with John Carpenter and ending with the current holder, Ken Jennings.

  • I guess WOMEN IN FILM was one of his weaker categories.

  • I would like it if they would show the first

season of tic tac dough on GSN because

I would like to see peiter devries, brian

    donovans and gary myers matches

  • When Kit Salisbury won $199,750, was he $112,950 short from tying Thom McKee for 1st?

  • Yes, he was.

  • How could Thom have not known JOAN CRAWFORD. He was in the NAVY!!

  • Here is some TTD trivia, the first contestant to win $100,000 was Petier DeVries.

  • Hot dog, you're the second person I've found on here that remembers Petier. I have it in my head that Petier's wife's name is Debbie, that he was a USAF pilot at the time, and that he and Thom physically looked remarkably similar. Does anyone on here have his episodes recorded and available for upload?

  • Most champions would start at the corners of the board or the center of the board.

  • I really enjoyed watching Thom McKees' run over 2 months on GSN. I wonder who's the next big winner after Thom??

  • Kit Salisbury won $199,750 winning 36 games in 1984.

  • Didn't Erik win like $60,000 or $70,000 after he defeated Thom?

  • At least $35,000.

A couple episodes with him consisting of numerous ties is up here.

  • You are right Hondo. I saw on here a game with Erik that consisted of 7 tie games.

  • i thought he won over 100k too

  • They say all good things come to an end & today is one of those occasions. Thom's luck just ran out there as he didn't know women in film very well; makes sense since he's a newlywed. Luck in the game got him & Erik took the title of champion. That speech they gave after it was over was well deserved; after someone has a long run it's important to talk about how far they have come; he set all the records back then & is now a game sho legend. Congradulations Thom! were all proud of you.

  • It currently is airing on gsn

  • Thom won 8 cars?! Holy shit he must've needed to get a bigger garage for all of them!

  • From what I heard, he sold some of them.

  • didn't bob hilton and art james announce also during thom's run?

  • I know Bob Hilton did but I don't recall Art James.

  • We're only about two weeks away from Thom's run beginning. GSN is also about two weeks away from getting to Ken Jennings' run on Jeopardy.

  • They started his run yesturday.

  • Here are just a few other big champs.

    1. Doc Fass

    2. Mark Leinwand

    3. Kit Salsbury

    4. John Welsh

    5. Wilbur Hicks

  • You forgot Richard. Recalling he won probably $20000. xD

  • Thank you for posting this mr. tiller. I want to see you do a parody of tic tac dough.

  • Wonder how long till we see thom's era again.

  • Classic win by Erik. Thom McKee is a great player.
