This is several years before the film of Much Ado - this episode broadcast on 17 November 1988 - but Ken's theatre company Renaissance staged the play earlier in the same year (directed by Judi Dench) which may have helped put the idea in her head!
Brilliant song! Do you know when Emma Thompson made this series? Presumably before she was in Much Ado About Nothing reading that same poem. It's like her anthem :)
