@moonmist5a Thanks for the comment! Both of the rats in this video have since passed (RIP little ones), but I can tell you about them. The black and white blazed girl has a rex coat, dumbo ears and ruby eyes. The beige and white blaze girl has a satin coat, dumbo ears and is odd-eyed (one pink and one ruby). The sure were beautiful ladies.

my rats can't share either. They fight over their food all of the time and when i had a water bottle in their cage, they would both try to drink out of it and would hit eachother in the face. It was cute but I had to stick with a bowl so they could both use it at the same time. They can't even share their wheel!! they both have to be on it at the same time and they are full grown. It is sooo funny.

Yes, they can, but thanks for your concern. Salt is not a forbidden food for rats; like sugar, they shouldn't be overloaded on the stuff, but a little is fine.

@RabidSparten well, I've been feeding my rats with food I eat(meat, cheese, all sorts of snacks etc.) None of my rats has ever got sick of it. Naturally rats eats whatever food they find so I don't see why are you so concern with giving them a salty snack, it won't hurt them(as long as you won't get them fat).

It was a mammary tumor, and your Cheese probably has one too. Easy to remove if you have a good vet! :) VERY common in unspayed females, and some males.

They are caused by hormones in unspayed females. Most unspayed females will get them. They can be removed easily, but best to spay your girls if they are healthy for surgery, so they don't get more. My vet charged ~$200 for a spay, which is reasonable. Good luck with your lady!

Yes, the b&w girls are dumbo rexes. Mine love to nibble my books as well! The teeth clicking/chattering is called bruxing, and sometimes they boggle their eyeballs back and forth at the same time. :)

my rat Bellatrix mostly bruxes when i read harry potter, or when hes in my lap with me petting him!! i named him Bellatrix because he would escape his cage, all the time! and in Harry Potter, Bellatrix Lestrange escaped Azkaban!

Good eyes! Yes, she did, but she and her sisters went to get spayed and she got the tumor removed as well. She's been spayed and tumor free for a long time now! :D

That is great! Love the video. 90% of my females have had tumors. I just got 2 babies and they were spayed with a new method at only 7 weeks old. This vet only removed their ovaries. The recovery was super fast. I'm hoping this will decrease the occurance of tumors in the future.

Yes, they are domestic, bred only to be pets. They are loving, smart, much like dogs, in fact. :) Some are crazy chewers, but as long as you keep them active and busy, they'll stick to their toys and not your furniture. Sometimes. ;D

rats from the feeder section at pet stores are also domesticated, but they arent bred for temperment or health as much as the ones you usually see as pets, but they are the same animal and can be just as loving. 3 of mine were bred to be reptile food and they act just like the one bred to be a pet
