You know what you should do? You should make a video in New York where one of these characters interacts with New Yorkers. So you would spend the day in character while one of your buddies follows you with a camera, and just improv on the subway, in Union square, Times Square, etc., interacting with real New Yorkers in character - then edit it and post the video. That would be awesome.
