  • Really, for those of you who take such an issue with spanking, opinions are opinions, you're entitled to them, but keep in mind this was made in different times.

Besides, the way the parents and Francis are represented in this book are far better than those in current books. The parents show a calm patience, and use their brains to handle their kid vs just putting them in a corner all the time. IMO, these are better parents than most I've seen today. And wasn't the idea of spanking useful?

  • Thank you for posting this. This was one of my favorite books that my mom would read to me, and it describers me to a 'T.'

Thank you for the memories, and you have a lovely reading voice.

  • Me too! Thank you so much. I missed Francis. I'm going to show this to my mother so we can share the memories together. Thanks for bringing them back.

  • Thank you from Rowan Jones age 3

  • @Aplasticjones You are so welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it Rowan!

  • you're quite welcome

  • Quite welcome. Once again, I hope you're talking to me. :)

  • @TaTgurl1003

Sorry; I have been gone for a week. Yes, I am talking to you. Thanks again!!!

  • You are so sweet to compliment my reading. I do love to read to children andI love your idea about reading in a library. Thanks again!

  • I don't know what the big deal is. I don't agree with the spanking (I could never imagine hittting a kid. You don't purposely hit the ones you love, in my opinion) and the images are a little scary, but frances finds out all the things in her room aren't the scary things she imagines them to be

  • I loved this reading. I wish I had someone like you to read me bedtime stories. Have you ever considered working for a library, reading books to children?

  • Thank you for posting this, I loved Francis as a child (especially Bread and Jam for Francis) and I still do. Thanks for the memories!

  • @frimbleton Thanks for listening. I'm so glad it brought back some warm and fuzzy memories!

  • This is a HORRIBLE book... the pictures in it and the text in it are horrible to childs. Very bad, don't use it.

  • This is wonderful. This is one of my very favorite books. As a child my mother read it to me and when I learned I used to read my mother to sleep with it quite often. I think I got it from the Bookmobile that travelled around for RIF (I think) and it had a little 45 record with it. As I listened to you I could picture my son (now 2 years old) as Francis and laughed. I will definitely have to pick up the Francis books for his collection! Thank you again for sharing! Bless you.

  • I loved this book as a kid but gave all my chilhood story books away when we moved. Thanks for this so much!

  • Thanks so much for reading this. Its been close to thirteen years since I've heard this story, and I realized in hearing this just how much I missed it. Thanks for the memories. The Frances books are awesome!

  • Hi Grandma Ward, I'm a 20 year old Dutch-Indonesian girl who missed out on English storybooks. Thank you so much for posting it on youtube. I appreciate you reading it to all of us. I will buy this book to read to my future kids

  • @mayaphrodite I'm so glad you enjoyed the book and I'm excited that you enjoyed it enough to purchase and and save for your future children. What a wonderful combination of ancestors you have--both Dutch and Indonesian! Thanks again

  • I'ev seen that story over 35 years ago on a filmstrip in school. Thanks for posting.

  • I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

  • Thanks for listening!

  • Thank you so much
