@jvboy88 : I'm French. Actually I didn't remember about my answer in Portuguese of 6 months ago, lol; I don't speak Portuguese, I must have looked in an internet dictionary. It's nice when now and then someone speaks your own language on the net, instead of always using English (which I love)
i thought it was very good,i missed the la la la's on the intro,but you played it really well and i like your voice!gonna checkout if you've done anything else,hope so!
@dannydignan1972 : thanks, Dannydignan! Yes, I "silenced" the la-la-la's, mostly because I can't make out what Bowie says at that moment (it's words, aren't they? not just "la-la-la's")
To be true, I think the J-200 series is not worth the money. I think it is suited for someone who likes the mid-range packed Maple. I played a Martin JC-16RE at the local Guitar Center; and MY GOD, is it good. It has very good low, adequate midrange, and brilliant highs. All for about $2K cheaper. With nicely figured East Indian rosewood back and sides.
I guess you meant: which strings were on the guitar at the time of the video? They were the strings I bought the guitar with, so I'm not sure, I'd say Gibson or D'Addario. Currently they're d'Addario; still testing various brands.
@vikingmerijn : Thanks, Vikingmerijn! I use 012's on my guitar. She's one year old. I think that when it is extremely opened up I'll put 011's on it, but not before. I've listened to your guitar on Happy Christmas and it sounds very good, mellower than mine, with more mower mediums maybe.
Thanks, Stathkon! Well, indeed there is a difference between the standard and the studio, other than cosmetic. The studio has AA sitka spruce top instead of AAA for the standard, and the body is plain maple instead of AAA curly maple. But I think it must still be a great guitar. I read on the net that the studio's body was laminated instead of solid when I bought the standard, so I didn't give it a chance, but now I think it's highly improbable for a guitar of this price, and labelled "J-200".
Thank you very much for your compliments, Juan! I'm really glad you like what I do. As for the Gibson J-200, yes, I'm sure it's a standard, it's written inside! But I think it's nearly identical to the Modern Classic version. I'm lucky to have it, yes, but I waited for a long time...
@JuanCarlosVejar : Wow! You got he True Vintage edition! Congratulations! Plus the Antique sunburst is great, I hesitated with this finish as a matter of fact. Keep on playing
Ok, you were very kind. In fact, you can't get everything from a single guitar. My inclination is for a warm tone rich in harmonics, so I think we'll have a dread. But for a second guitar, I would not doubt, the J200 is a truly out of class. Regards. Filippo
Excellent performance, vocal and instrumental. Very good indeed. Very nice your J200, I am undecided between this and the Martin D35. You advise the J200 is too strong or live? Hello and congratulations.
Thank you Filippo. Well, if you hesitate between the Gibson J-200 and the Martin D35, all I can say is that I tried both and ended up with the Gibson! But I don't know what sound you're after: the J-200 is very balanced, not very loud (at least new), full of tight bass and of nice treble; a dreadnought will be more responsive and the sound will be warmer. The best dreadnoughts I tried were the Guild D55 (US) and the Martin D21... Regards

@CedricVimont Hey there, nice playing!
I have the same guitar, bought it about 6 years ago. I've always used 012 on it. Which gauge do you use, 011 or 012?

@vikingmerijn Oh my god... I suck in that clip... it was more of a joke than a serious try to sing it.
