ahaaa I remember watching this video last year and being really impressed with it! Kind of weird, I believe you are booked for one of my upcoming shows haha! Didn't even realize it was you!
Josh & Rodney are very excited about adding you to our lineup! After taking a listen on your soundcloud, I was right there with them! Great stuff going on man! Can't wait for the 29th!
@MOTUDP5 When you open Redrum, instead of opening the vocals in the main DrumKit section, open it in one of the single channels available at the top - the best part is that, just like all the other instruments, you are able to hear a preview of the vocal before you select it - have fun!
The effect that he adds on to the vocal samples create the chop. This guys videos are extremely helpful. I've gone to his web site and watched every vid which has provided me with a much better understanding of Reason and what it's capable of.
that video was very useful. i have loaded some onions into my sampler and am working on some of the techniques covered. my eyes are a little watery, but i think i'll have this remix ready in time to add to my dinner salad, or maybe i'll fry them. and i will be honest, i don't like fried onions or onion rings, but i hear those are best for sample chopping and slicing as they are good loops to begin with.
to add the effect to only one drum sample wire the individual drum channel you want to the combinator, then from the combinator wire it to another mixer channel in your main mixer, do this instead of wiring the redrum out to the combi, then to the mixer
This is exactly what I'm looking for! Except, I don't use reason :( CRAP! What plugins out there can do this? If anyone would like to chime in? Great tutorials though man.
fuckin' reall?! sooo many pain staking hours trying to adjust the sample start and modulate it. I feel like such a stupid ass right now. hahaha all good though thanks again man
hey brotha, awesome tut! quick question, is there a way that effect will only apply to just the vocal sample and not the entire redrum, i opened two redrum one for drum pattern and one for vocal, but in the vocal one i had a couple of other effects and the freeze stutter made all of the samples go loopy, hope you got time to respond
sometimes reason wires all of it together which is a pain. I recommend creating a combinator for each redrum and then create the effect on the combinator with the vocals, this should work.
@luckydatevideos i have a question. I use redrum for my drum patterns so heres what i do. i make the pattern, then right click on redrum then click copy pattern to track, but then if i cut a piece of the drum track in the song, it still plays. do you know how to fix this?
Another great tutorial man! As always top stuff bro, i never knew there were FX in the combinator! All the time i have had reason 4 and i have not explored that! Sounds great. Peace
awesome video! been watching the other tutorials and it's opened reason up to some new levels for me. do you have a link to the legit download for the vengeance vocals pack?
I'm still trying to figure out the best way to import a vocal sample wav file into my project... Rex will not read it because it must be a .rex file i believe... and I can't import thru NNXT for some reason... help? lol
i have no choice but to subscribe lol im a fls 8 vet and ive been having reason 4 on my comp for the longest but hardly use it just for the simple fact ive been tryna figure out how to do this on reason for so long and like nothin you knocked it out of the park, the only thing im confused on it the interface, im too used to how to put together a song on fl im kinda lost when it comes to laying down tracks(mostly redrum)and especially vocals. so do you chop up vocals in real time with reason?
reason is not the best program for real time vocal chopping because you cannot add vocal tracks like in fl studio. but there are ways to get around it by using vocals in redrum such as this video, and using Dr Rex, but for Dr Rex you have to chop up the vocals in a different program called recycle, personally i would suggest making the beats in reason and then using another program such as logic, protools, or even audacity to chop up the vocals in real time
hey luckydate i got the vengeance vocal pack
but everytime i open up a redrum and try to put a vocal sample
nothin pops up?
can u help?

i thought this video was supposed to be about how to chop, not how to add effects...

I think the best video about chopping is this. it can work for vocals as well as many other stuff.

green peppers are also great to get that fresh flavor to the rhythm, specially for salsa.

azgrem 3 years ago
if it is a wav file the only way you can open it is through redrum...
if you want to use rex then you ware going to have to get a program called ReCycle which will convert wav to rex
luckydatevideos 3 years ago
thx very much, I figured the only way to play thru rex is to convert with Recycle. I'll try that now thanks for the help!

use recycle
