i understand why everybody like the rpg traditional combat system that came from baldurs gate in dragon age but i dont think that will really work well in pc games, how much damage can a weapon deliver no longer matters, all that you want its can the weapon provide any stats and how many tiers can the weapon have. for example a regular weapon with tier 7 its better than a good weapon with stats but tier 4.

bioware has a tradition to frustrate the player every single time, not even close of the fun that i get with diablo. come on really compare with diablo is sad, even dungeonsiege its more fun, as rpg for pc its regular i am not a fun of the winter nights fight scheme so. a got frustrate a lot in this game.

@animejoao [continued] Initially I hated the tactics, but now I find myself plowing through my characters tactics in the hope to improve and prepare for as many situations as possible. I personally would like a more expanded version of this though, but that might be because I'm a programmer and am used to working with a great multitude of conditions rather then just one at a time.

The combat system is well defined, structured and quite versatile, hard to dislike.

hi, thank you for your patience with my english skills, its being a long time since i write to someone , i just think that dragon age give to much e attention to the tier of the weapon than to the status that weapon had, like a weapon with good damage its nice but a weapon less powerfull but with more tier are always better, i know its a role playing game rule, its make sense, its important to hit everytime, but i dont know diablo and dungeon siege where just more fun to play.

@animejoao [continued] it's obvious they are better. Still, if I find a rare lower tier weapon with better stats I use that. The tier is simply a way to quickly show you how good a weapon is without the need to dive deeply into the stats of weapons. It's a clever way of keeping this game open to people who don't like the need to go deep into the specifics. Just like the ability, but no need to pause and the addition of tactics.

@animejoao (This is a reply to both your comments I guess) Firstly, you're English isn't that bad. In fact, I recently joined an RP at a forum and comparing it with your English, you can use it to apply for jobs. Actually, I never really looked at the tier but the stats. I found that it's important to get a nice balance between damage, speed (here usually weapon type) and to hit ratio (here the attack bonus). Higher tier weapons are of rare materials and of higher quality so... [to be continued]

BioWare has found a great mix between Turn Based and Real-Time, by giving us a real time battle, with all characters being in constant 'action' and giving us the opportunity to pause the game at any given moment (with the exception of when in dialogue).

Further more, I think the tactics is a great way to expand the combat even more and is a great find. [to be continued]

if u have a decent computer then i would suggest to get this game for PC, console versions are more glitchy for both the PS3 and the Xbox360. And its more action on the console, whereas its more tactical on the PC.

I wont be getting DAO, mainly for the goofy blood effects and the (snicker) "dark" fantasy elements. a game where pretty much everybody is an asshole, except for Duncan and couple other guys. But Duncan is gay, so he doesn't count (don't let the beard and the deep voice fool you, he's wearing Vicky's Secret under that plate).

I have a PS3 as well. this game was made for the PC and then they said "oh yeah, gotta make a console version too" which nerfs the game beyond help

also, regarding the last two lower scores from "places you never heard from" the smaller sites, etc don't have to fellate the game studios like the bigger sites like Gamespot, IGN, etc do. they give the game a bad review, and Bioware might not release vids and content to them down the road. they're part of the system neither of these sites did a straight PS3/360 review but added to the PC review "oh yeah, the console version doesnt have this and this and this, and the graphics aren't as good"

Actually this game is a Dark Fantasy game and it lives up to that title more so than any other game I've seen. As far as everyone being an "Asshole" now see you're confusing that term with having a fleshed out personality with layers. You should work on that. The game was made for the PC so game sites that review it as such are right to do so. That's just common sense. Also in contrast to your idea that smaller reviewers are better, most are just trying to make a name for themselves.

Where the PC version is very different form the console version (either better or worse), it's just not fair to lump the review scores and quotes together like this. Two points: 1) Thank god a real RPG from Bioware after the two fake one's that came before it.

2) As with 1) I am talking PC here. This video is worthless because the console version of DA is more of an action-RPG, whereas the PC version is a real RPG. They are two different beasts. This means the PC version is getting 90+ scores, whereas the console version got 80's scores. Averaging these scores makes the console version seem better and the PC version worse. It was the same with Risen.

Just finished the game. I have to say that this game lacks replayability. There is nothing to do after you finish the game except to purchase the dlc's. Not to mention that the storyline is a bit cliche - Men, Elves, and Dwarves have to unite to defeat the forces of evil. Sound like Lord of the Rings to anyone?

Well when I played it I just reloaded the most recent autosave whenever I felt like seeing the other outcome of an event. I never went as far as to replaying the whole game. With the openings, I just played through them and stopped when I got to Ostagar. Everything that can be done in this game can be achieved within one playthrough.

Maybe I didn't completely finish the game but I did the parts that mattered and that is good enough for me. TBH warcrafts lore has been so screwed with you can hardly call it lore anymore. It's what bioware accomplished with ONE game and how much depth they put into that lore that makes it great... Sure you can say "Oh another zombie like story or w/e", but if you actually read all the history (codex's) and listen to the stories, it is amazing how they created more than 2000 years of history in 5 years.

The rpg elements are fantastic and the story is compelling. The combat in this game is a deal breaker. Im on normal and I have to reload 2-3 times nearly every battle. Im used to the pausing now but christ the frustration of losing fights so much has brought my blood to a boil. Im at the Brood Mother and Im ready to give up.
