  • how good are the perception 400? does it meet all your recording requirements?

I've got it too, but haven't touched it yet for nearly 2 years now, because i don't know what amps or whatever, to get it sounding great. any help appreciated mate

  • @mystikalecho it is a fantastic mic for the price man... I use it mostly for vocals... I had a vox booth i made and the sound reproduction of the mic is quite accurate.. I have used if for acoustic guitar as well and get good mixes with it.. Barely need to eq..... I haven't used it on electric guitar but i am sure it would do the trick.. Just need to back if off a bit from the speaker since it's a condenser mic....

  • @DiztruktorMedia dude i should have like a million videos already.. I have no camera!! I am a full-time college student so i can't even afford one at the moment.. I will be getting one eventually and will be making some videos.. If you have any questions regarding recording or equipment feel free to ask..

  • @DiztruktorMedia i agree with you.. This setup is kind of old :) I recently bought a new desk that is a lot wider then this one. Thanks for the compliment :)

  • hey !i was wondering if imac g5 is cool for recording?

  • @leadmasterswift sure is man.. Now you can use a pc as well, they are just as good.. I mac is fine for recording.. Im using a fairly old one as you can see, and this guy holds up just fine. The new Imac has dual processors which means more power and capability of increased plugins(reverbs, delays) without slowing up or freezing up. Personally i like Mac better because I am a Logic fan, which is only capable on an Apple computer. Macs are compatible with Protools and everything else as well.

  • @Gtrplyr1 do you know if imac g5 with intel i3 is good?

  • @leadmasterswift do you know if imac g5 with intel i 3 is good for nuedo?

  • @leadmasterswift hey dude, if you are referring to intel 3rd generation yea that is fine.. To be honest all the imacs are capable of handling the software. Especially the new ones. Also if you plan on doing a lot of recording invest in a external hard-drive, so you can save your material without using computer space....

  • @ Gtrply1 nice set up dude, are you using your d1200 as a back up? i'm just now setting up my home studio and i'm trying to get some advice from some ppl with a basic knowledge of what they're doing.

  • @NardoFree2 well right now i am using the D1200. My presonus Firepod needs repair. I have had the d1200 for sometime now but only know the basics of it :) It's a good piece of equipment.. Feel free to ask questions man. Thanks for stopping in

    Dan

  • what are you doing in my house

  • Nice studio i want to buy imac 27 quad 2.8 i7 can with 16gb of ram to use it with pro tools or logic around 40 of audio tracks with some plugins and some virtual isteruments lik stylus and reasone plus sampletank do you thing it can hundle all of what i want to use? Thanks

  • @proprotools1234 O yea man for sure.. The new Imac is great im thinking of picking it up myself . There is two models. One of them contains two processors inside which is more preferable. And with an added external hard drive you are leaving computer room free. Can't go wrong with that...

  • @Gtrplyr1 Thanks for replying

  • @proprotools1234 no problem, any more questions just stop right in...

  • What type of speaker do you connect a microphone

    a singer would normally use?

  • @every1dies13 if you are talking about what type of microphone, it really depends. Most of the time engineers use "condenser" mics. However if you are working with a singer who tends to yell or scream or have a loud voice a dynamic might be the way to go.. Singers use headphones when they sing to avoid "sound leakage".. Hope this helps :)

  • Can't go wrong with the line 6 pod ;) Because i'm moving out my parents place in a year i'm spending all my cash on studio equipment, this way i'll have a full studio at my place and not worry about cash ;) I currently own the LINE 6 POD X3 PRO Rack system, its got so much effects i can never settle on one tone. never...... NICE SETUP BRO!

  • @SoundOfAShark Thanks for stopping in man! Yea the Pod is a nice tool to have. You can get pretty much any sound from it. Studio stuff is expensive man so good luck to you in your new place. Rock on!

  • @Gtrplyr1 Yeah just need to get the most top of the range stuff and it will be all good :)

  • does logic run on this, is there enough memory?

  • @kingwill86 Yes it does. Thats what I use. Not Logic studio but the complete Logic pro 7 academic bundle, which has the most things included... Just be sure to have an external hard drive to save your mixes on, and you will be fine.

  • @Gtrplyr1 hey thanks for the reply

  • @kingwill86 no problem rock on!

  • I love your acoustic treatment , where did you get those studio foam borders that you put around the acoustic foam itself? that is so cool.

  • go to ebay and type in acoustic foam.. There are numerous companies selling them. Just make sure they list the N.R.C of the product(noise ratio coefficient) or the amount of sound absorption they pick up. the Bass traps are Auralex, kind of pricey.

  • I've checked them out at ebay, the price is not bad at all. thanks for lookin out.

  • no problem, any questions your always welcome.

  • dude i have the korgd1200 also did yours come with a cd so you can hook it up too your computer?? cuz mine didnt and im tryin to figure out how to make it work :( please help!!

  • dude ive had it for like 4 years and i still don't know how to use it completely. I only use it for on sight recordings. I mostly use Logic on computer. If you google Korg d1200 and computer hookup you will find info. Also google Korg d1200 manual.

  • dream theater FTW

  • Hell yea, i take it your a metal/rock lover?

  • yeah I am. What do you suggest as a mixer / line mixer for micing a drumset

  • this is a really clean and nice setup i love it,uhm,my room is kinda good on the acoustics, but my room is a little bigger than a jail cell bcus we built it in my garage...so i didnt really need foam, but i have 2 good worth foam panels, and some eggcarton type foam around, so now its pretty good, the walls dont have any isolation witch i shoulda thought about when i built it, but do u think i should add some bass trappers? i dont have a sub so idk..

  • yes deffinetely bass traps are needed, bass is harder to treat then high frequencies and are more important in smaller rooms. The more bass traps you have the better. Also google "how to treat a room using an spl meter, to taylor your own room to it's best potential. You don't have to go crazy, but it's good to get into that habbit if you want ultra sound :)

    Happy New Year!

    Dan

  • Amazing studio, & congrats on the diploma!

  • Thanks that's kind of you, have a good New Year and feel free to stop by anytime.

  • Sweet setup man. I so wanted to mount my 40" on the wall behind my DAW like you did, but I have a window behind it all, that I covered with MDF, then covered with Auralex. I don't think it would support the tv, as I didn't reinforce it much when I was covering the window... Bummer. But, I'm happy to hear the foam/glue will peel right off. I was really worried if I was going to have to replace all my drywall. Again, great setup. Just need some sexy lamps, that's all...

  • Thanks for stopping in man, i love the way your setup is laid out, it has that "chill" vibe to it.. And yes i need those sexy lamps man!! :) The foam does peel off, the only bad thing the paint might peel off a bit, but you can just repaint.. Have a good holiday man and keep pumping out them vids!

  • So, tell me about your software/vst's. Recommendations?

  • LOL!! Couldn't make it out in the vid, but checked the pics at your myspace - Our walls are the same exact color! Nice chops on guitar too. But... what up with the rave music....? j/k.

  • lol nice man!, yea i play all styles hehe... I am a fan of Logic Pro basically because you get the whole package from the Getgo.. I notice with Protools you have to pay extra to get Synths, sounds etc, and you are limited to what user interface you can use, so thats a no go in my book. I haven't had much expericnec with others excluding Cubase which i thought was ok as well....

  • Basically all the software is good, you just may end up paying more for one over the other. The most important thing that people overlook is the frequency acceptance rate of the audio interface... Anything that supports 96k and up is a go. That means that a lot more high end frequencies will be present in your mix, may not be noticeable to a beginning ear, but it is well worth it..

  • Thank you for the offer. I purchased it from Amazon.

    Thanks again!

  • Anytime, have a good holiday!

    Dan k.

  • Nice lab, Dan.....

  • Thanks man, much appreciated, i see you to are a Logic User, good sense in taste you got man hehe.

    Enjoy.

  • Yes, sir...Love Logic 8, still learning it! Have u upgraded to 9?

  • no i wish, im still in the cave man era of Logic. Im using 7.1. Can you update without purchasing the whole software bundle?

  • thanks man u been a great help

  • No problem, any more questions just stop right in.

    Dan

  • so how do you like your mic for vocals

  • I like it a lot, it's very versitile. You can change the polarity, and vocals sound crisp and warm. It's very good for the price.

  • is the akg 400 the same as the akg 420

  • The primary difference seems to be that the pad is now -20dB(on the 420) rather than -10dB.

  • Sent a musical item or two your way. Hope it's not too laid back for a metal fan. There is more on my Facebook profile.

    Happy music to you!

    Caroline Lewis

  • Thanks Caroline, i love it all. From metal to celtic, to techno etc.

  • thanks I really appreciate it ! Nice i see you have great taste in music as well, thats awesome. Yeah my father is Italian mixed with German. The name is actually of German descent. :) I always get asked about it. Im actually Colombian and was adopted, so people always ask where my last name comes from. :)

  • dope studio you got mate! tnx for comment mine ;-)

    peace!

  • Anytime man. Keep popping out them videos!

  • wow..... LSR4328P....

sound absorbers are for ambient noise?

    do you have Spectrum analyzer???

  • Hey man.. The sound absorption is what every studio technically should have.. In order to achieve the best possible sound, you need absorbers from preventing unwanted sound bouncing off walls causing standing waves and unwanted bass bulidup that could possibly be recorded into your microphones, or another problem called comb filtering. I don't have a spectrum analyzer.

  • awesome

  • Thanks!!

  • Iso booth next to a window...good call.

  • Yeah i know Luckily i live in a secluded part of town, so there is no noise outside.. Also i indicated in the description it is to avoid room ambience not sound proof..

  • Hey i was wondering what did you use on the outside of you vox booth.....and did you place roof ontop??? one last thing would it have mad any difference if you put a door on it

  • hey man.. I used carpeting i bough from K=mart for the outside. For the roof i measured and cut a pice of thick plywood to fit above the door..I was thinking of putting a door on it as well, and it would make an incredible difference.. The more isolated the booth is the more clean your recordings are. But if you have a quiet room you can get away with a blanket.

  • Yeah, my new PC has so many fans, that's why I had to build my ISO in the first place. I used to be able to record in the corner of my room. Great job.

  • looks awesome man, and im loving how simple that vox booth idea is :D

im gna post up a vid soon of my studio, its still in the making (and it is in my bedroom) but its getting there :)

  • Thanks man..... Yea bedroom studios come in handy, when i get tired i just pass out right there lol... Good luck man, looking forward to see your setup.. Cheers

  • Very very nice! I love the mic booth

  • thanks :) all you need a a hinged door attached to another door, just back it into a corner of a room and walla..

  • They are truly great monitors.. THe bass response is great and accurate.. They get very loud, my furniture piece in the back of the room vibrates when I play tech and trance.. They only fluctuate 2db in terms of flatness and accuracy, and they aren't color saturated in the high end.. Great buy!!

  • How do you like the JBL LSR4328p Studio Monitors? Do they provide good power and bass?
