There is no HIPS in NIS (thank God). When it says you are one of the first to download something, that is it's reputation based rating feature that kicks in after the virus scanning when there is no signature for the file.

Languy, the next time you review Norton Internet Security, try using LiveUpdate again after the first time as it always updates the program files first (until the definitions are fully up to date and it says there's no updates available). This way, the HIPS won't have as much work to do as the defs will catch most infections. It's a great program, the quickest and one of the best!

I bought the NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2010 from Best Buy. I downloaded the software and type in the KEY for activation. But it is still asking "NEED ACTIVATION". And only good for 15 days. It should be 1 year, and should be working after i type in the key. But it never happen.

@Kote12TK make sure that what you have installed on your computer is what you bought. By that I mean, you installed Norton Internet security and you bought the Anti virus or vice versa. It will not work if you buy one and try to use the key on the other.

norton is known to take control of your pc so never download it i wouldnt recommend it just get avast antivirus you have to pay more but you will be virus free......and if you choose to download it free you will get the trial but if you download the full version free good luck going to prison....norton suck if you pay for it your paying for a virus

I switched 6 home comptuers from ESET NOD32 Smart security V4 to Norton Internet security 2010 (and Mine to 360 V4) and it is MUCH better. The reason why, is because ESET missed something on mine and I had to RE-INSTALL. But now all problems are Okay. Not only that, but another laptop had 4 trojans that ESET misseded that Norton got. My cousin watches porn and stuff and we re-installed windows and I got him NOD32 and in a month his computer wuz destroyed...NOD32 SUCKS (user since V2, quit on V4)

I'm using AVG Internet Security for five years. It's the best AV ever, at least for me.

You're using shi**y software to "check" "GOOD" antivirus. Malwarebytes? You must be joking?

Take AVG, ESET or at least BitDefender to check your scan of Norton or any other antivirus.

I repeat: Check your AV with other AV, not with the malware software.

My suggestion: You should try using Spyware Doctor.

Btw, for five years, my system never crashed down because of a virus, troyan or malware.

@KilljoySR Oh, I forgot to mention. You scaned your system with Norton al least 3 times, but not with other AV softwares. Why?

For example Kaspersky, I've scanned system 5 times during five days. He didn't find anything. But when I enter into the "TEMP" folder, Kaspersky started to screaming like a pig. Virus detected and something else more...

I don't believe in Kaspersky anymore. 2 Years ago, similar thing happened. Scan was clean, but after 2 hours, my system was crashed.
