Marcus Allen's TD run was breathtaking, this was the first SB I ever watched as a kid & I remember the Facenda NFL Highlight Film naration here as well, gives me chills hearing that voice. RIP.

2007 patriots and 1983 redskins- greatest ever to never win it all. Patriots were the greatest team ive ever seen. Redskins, statistically mindblowing. SOmething like +43 turnover differential. NFL record for points. Dont need to win the super bowl to be great. But if they won teh SB, maybe would be # 1 and #2 all time followed by the 1985 bears and 1989 49ers. How this team lost 38-9 is mindboggling. Its been revealed how "Rockstar" they acted tho during super bowl week. Hurt them in the end

One reason the Redskins lost 38-9 was due to the fact that their defense just wasn't that good, and it finally caught up to them on this day. Remember that they blew big leads and allowed a lot of points to inferior teams, as well as teams close to their level. They blew a 23-0 halftime lead against Dallas, gave up 48 points to the Packers, gave up 35 at home vs. the Raiders w/o Marcus Allen, and blew a 21-0 lead in the fourth quarter vs. the 49ers in the title game.

And remember that the Raiders always predicated their defensive strategy from back to front, and they were not scared by the Redskin receivers. After all, they had blown out the high-powered Chargers twice, and they feared the Chargers' WRs more than they ever feared the Redskins' WRs. When they saw that their DBs were shutting down the Redskin receivers, the rest of the defense jammed the line of scrimmage and stuffed John Riggins and sacked Joe Theismann six times.

And as usual, Al Davis fucks up a good thing. He acts like an asshole to Marcus, Marcus hates Al and Al tells his HC to keep Marcus on the sideline. Marcus barely plays for 3 seasons, then leaves for the Chiefs. The Raiders will never be good as long as Al Davis is alive.

@AbacinateGaming Its more likely Al's daughter will sell the team after Al finally croaks. I doubt she has much interest running a football team. Maybe she'll sell the Raiders to someone in LA and the Raiders go back to LA again. Then the Raiders will be the only team in pro sports history to move 3 times to the same 2 cities. It wouldn't surprise me.

My question is: Where was Darrell Green? With his speed at the time he could have kept up with Marcus Allen and stopped him instead of Anthony Washington #24 trying to keep up with him. Still a spectacular run.

#79 on the Redskins fucked up. He did not keep his outside contain on Allen's left side. I am sure he remembers this play in his sleep forever....
