Palin says that domestic oil from Alaska will "reduce our dependency on dangerous foreign regimes" and "give Americans relief at the pumps", which are both untrue statements. First, Alaskan oil will be brought to the US by Big Oil and they'll want their going rate, like that paid now for Canadian oil. Second, the US will simply keep importing oil from those "dangerous regimes", because Palin won't push for reduced consumption.

Profit is revenue minus operating costs. What the customer pays goes directly to cover the operation of the business (wages, materials, etc.) Tax policy has not interfered here. Then what's LEFT OVER gets taxed.
Sure, one can argue how much of this profit should go to shareholders and how much to society to (ideally) solve more important problems. However, taxing profit alone should not affect the cost of simply operating the business.
As a business owner I require a certain margin from revenue as profit. So you propose I cover the tax, no. If revenue does not rise I trim any fat from my expenses(wage increases etc) to cover the increase in taxes. If I want the same amount of money I either cut expenses or raise revenue by price increase. Yes I pay more but I am not ultimately receiving any less for my ownership. Just paying more of my already overburdened fair share will not happen. BTW you have no say in where profit goes.

Whooppee Palin cut a whole 2% from the Alaska budget (490 million) but accepted $13900 per resident in earmark federal funding. She took the money from the bridge to nowhere and used it for road projects. She taxes the hell out of Alaska oil that we pay for. It's just as expensive as OPEC oil.

This is a good point, but it gets missed in most discussions. Palin says that domestic oil from Alaska will "reduce our dependency on dangerous foreign regimes" and "give Americans relief at the pumps", which are both untrue statements. First, Alaskan oil will be brought to the US by Big Oil and they'll want their going rate, like that paid now for Canadian oil. Second, the US will simply keep importing oil from those "dangerous regimes", because Palin won't push for reduced consumption.

Her whole family covered by very good health insurance, she billed state for travel expenses for whole family. Didn't hesitate to stay in luxury hotels too! $700 a night... Profit is revenue minus operating costs. What the customer pays goes directly to cover the operation of the business (wages, materials, etc.) Tax policy has not interfered here. Then what's LEFT OVER gets taxed.
Sure, one can argue how much of this profit should go to shareholders and how much to society to (ideally) solve more important problems. However, taxing profit alone should not affect the cost of simply operating the business.

As a business owner I require a certain margin from revenue as profit. So you propose I cover the tax, no. If revenue does not rise I trim any fat from my expenses(wage increases etc) to cover the increase in taxes. If I want the same amount of money I either cut expenses or raise revenue by price increase. Yes I pay more but I am not ultimately receiving any less for my ownership. Just paying more of my already overburdened fair share will not happen. BTW you have no say in where profit goes.
