@earthling1984 hey I took your advise and I called the place and i got a replacement battery and now my helicopter is up and running.. thanks for all your help
when you turn the heli and transmitter off, does it forget all the trimming you have done on the heli, in other words when you fly it again do you have to re-trim the heli each time?
@earthling1984 Hey there, Is it normal to have a left nose(or right tail) drift with this heli? I recently got one and and as I release the sticks in a hover the mSR flys small backwards left circles. I'm having to input about a half-stick distance (from full deflection) to keep the nose straight. Is this normal or should I try to work with the trims? Thanks!
@TheHelicoptermaster hmm. when you put in the battery(with the transmitter off) it should start blinking after a few seconds, then you turn on the transmitter while holding down the right stick. If this doesn't happen, perhaps something is wrong. I suggest you call or contact horizon hobby/e-flite and ask them to assist you further.
you did pretty awesome compared to my first flight. I'm coming from a Syma S107 3ch coax and I'm finding it really twitchy. I tend to overcompensate big time and having control inputs on the throttle leads to a crash pretty much every flight.
I have many flights on my Syma and I thought this upgrade would entail some learning but this hump is frustrating.
@mathyses single cell lipo. they are listed as 3.7v, but when fully charged they are 4.2v. you stop flying around 3.6v usually to keep the battery in good condition.
@earthling1984 I like how you said you didn't want to crash it on the first flight yet you slammed it twice lol. great heli. I'm getting one as well. they run for 130 now directly from horizon hobby :-) , I was gonna get the SR120 but I think I'm gonna pass on that for now.
@MaximOrlov actually the plastic is for many reasons, two of the best to mention are, 1. Weight, plastic keeps weight down and for a heli this small, weight is *very* important... 2. Plastic bends, instead of breaking, in minor, and sometimes even major crashes, causing little to no damage, and no price to replace any parts. That being said, any helicopter can brake if you abuse it too much, and luckily parts are readily available and priced fair.
is the msr really worth the money, i want a heli that is prety good and has a LONG run time, but idk if i want to spend this kind of money, is the mcx2 a better option?
@gt40x4 it is worth the money for sure! The mCX2 is also a great helicopter, but it is much different from the mSR. The mCX2 is a just starting beginner helicopter with dual counter rotating blades that make it very stable, but also less agile. The mSR is the next step up, and it is Fixed Pitch. It is still pretty stable and easy to fly, but it is also capable of very fast forward and reverse flight as well as some other light aerobatics.
Dude your right i do love the way it fly,s. just one question why do i have to re-trim every time i change the batteries? is it a problem with the heli? plz help.
@santclause1 I am having the same issue with my MSR ; I think its a nature of having a very bendy copter. Couple things I noticed that have a drastic effect trim; battery placement; landing gear broken on front mount; the main rotors spur gear is slipping down causing slop in the main rotor. The swashplate has unseated from bearing. Alot of time replacing the blades will fix trim issues; but if your still bouncing off walls (like I am) you may want to just ignore.
i have been flying a 3ch coaxial heli thats about the same size. i can fly it very well and am looking to upgrade to hopefully this. do you think it would be a good "step-up" without it being too easy to master?
@venomx4x4 yes, either the 4ch coaxial mCX or mCX2... or if you feel you can handle it, this mSR are all great choices for you to step up to. The mSR will be a bit of a challenge at first, but it is very durable which is nice, and most crashes cause no damage.
@earthling1984 good to know. i feel like if im going to get a 4ch, i might as well get a fixed pitch as well. I figured it'd be better to go for a sub-micro/small 4ch fp since, like you said, they are more durable than a larger heli. thanks for the help.
These little helicopters are powered by dsm2 radios. these radios have faster responses and doubles the range of the transmitter thannay other dsm powered radios. DSM2 radios are mostly from these brands: Spektrum, JR/DSM, E-flite, Parkzone, or Hobbyzone. These dumb birds don't know what a spektrum radio is...???
@siegelsdad dx6i has many features. I actually have a video called something like, "why do you need the Dx6i'. It offers dual rate and expo setup, mixes, travel adjust, sub trim, etc. it also has 10 model memory and more. cost is about $150.
@siegelsdad also its one of the cheapest radios that supports collective pitch heli's. I spring the extra 50 for the dx7 as I found the user menus on the 6 a bit annoying.
Hey I have a parkzone champ tx. It came with the plane. Can i use it for the msr? I know it will bind with it but will the programming be able to work? Because one is heli and one is plane? Thanks
Great vid, very helpful. just ordered MSR because i,ve been having problems with my ESKY honeybeeFPV2. not sure if it,s me or the heli. as i don,t know any advanced pilots to help me. i,ve trimmed it but it,s still does what it wants. any way MSR for the house it looks great.

@santclause1 Thanks. Glad I could help :) The Esky Honeybee FPV2 is a piece of junk. It flies horribly and is very unresponsive. You will enjoy the mSR!
I have a firebird (syma s107) and have done some mods to it to make it move faster. I want to get a 4 channel, but dont want to waste my time and money on another coax heli if i dont need to. Do you think I could handle moving from a 3 channel coax to a 4 channel single rotor msr? Flying the firebird is so easy for me, and I'd also have much practice seeing that I wouldn't get the MSR until christmas.
@earthling1984 Alot recommended for an amateur like me the Solo Pro, and I'm really confused, I just want an easy to fly helicopter... What is better for me?
@matrobsti well I would recommend starting with a good 4ch coaxial, like the blade mCX or MCX2. But yes, this helicopter is pretty easy to fly and is pretty darn durable and barely ever gets hurt in a crash(MCX and MCX2 are the same, they are very durable as well). Check out some videos of the two, and decide what might be best for you.
@bkarabian perhaps something is faulty with your new tailboom. Maybe take it to the hobbyshop you got it from and demonstrate and see if they will replace it.
@bkarabian spins fast? On it's own, or like when you give input? If it is when you give input, you could try adding some expo to your rudder, this should slow the spin around center of sticks.
Hey bud, thats a top review... I've been umming and arring about this one for a few weeks now to play with indoors when im not flying my Blade400 i think you just helped me make up my mind :)
Cool video, but what do you think i should get a mcx or a msr. I do know alot about rc gliders (i have a easy glider pro) but i only know how to fly hellicopters on the simulator.
@45Cuber if you have never flown helicopters before, starting with a co-axial is the way to go. However, if you have used the simulator a lot, and are comfortable with single rotors, the mSR may be a fine choice too.
@kabe628 Cool! The mSR is different. It is a similar size, but it is a single rotor helicopter and requires much more control to keep it steady. It is great to learn a single rotar design with! I suggest flying the mCX2 around for a while then getting an mSR once you can do all types of flight with the mCX2(like backwords, figure 8's, etc).
@earthling1984 Thanks for the video... I'm still learning on the mCX2, but I have an MSR on my wishlist once I have the coaxial thing figured out. I'm close, but no there yet.
@jscott1000 no problem! You will love the mSR! It is very durable also! Just take it slow and you should be fine; but I agree, make sure you are fully comfortable with the mCX2 before you fly the mSR!
@rcplaneguy1 they are very similar! If you plan to fly in your house, the mSR is the best choice because of its small size. It also can u se many UM batteries so if you have some extras, that is great!
hey there i wanna ask that i have flown some trainer like the f6f hellcat 4ch and esky nemo. So would you recommend me to buy a eflite ultra micro 4site or the parkzone sukhoi su 26. thanks and your all vidz are great. keep it up
@TheMaXrisK both those are aerobatic planes for intermediate to advanced pilots. You may be able to fly them but you might want to start with something a little less '3d' before you get a sukhoi or 4site.
Those micros are best to start with..you learn fast..always can fly justabout anywhere and they don't break unless you crash very often and hit something hard...As he said cut the throtTle if you are about to crash..if not gear can strip blades can break etc...But this size heli is the most crash friendly heli...
Hey earthling, you might remember me from ur HBFP v2 video. I love that helicopter, but I want something smaller so I can fly inside, and E-Flite helis sure caught my attention, especially the mSR. In fact, I might get an mSR for my birthday in august :]
You're the one who helped me choose an E-Flight heli. AS much as you hate the HBFP2, I'm never going to give up that helicopter.
I might get the BNF version of this heli like you did, will my E-Sky transmitter bind to the MSR? Thanks :]
@PepsiRemix5 once you try an E-flite you won't go back :) I would suggest the mSR if you want a great indoor flier. A new E-flite blade is coming out as well, the Blade 120 SR. This is a little larger than the mSR, but not as large as the SR.
I am not 100% sure if it will bind, but it might. If it is a DSM2 transmitter, it should.
@earthling1984 I've actually now decided on my final decision to get for my birthday. There's a plane called the Hobbyzone Champ (much like E-Flite planes)
It's a very small 3ch plane that really caught my eye, and it comes with a transmitter identical to the mSR's, so if I ever want to get an mSR in the future, I can just bind my Champ TX to it :)
They are good. I have bought from the once. They have a reward program too. I don't buy to often from them though because I live on the other side of the country and shipping is a lot.
Im new to the world of RC and started with the MCX 2 , which is a ton of fun. I got the MSR today and wow is it fun! I will say this, it is much more challenging to fly. I only have about 10 minutes of flight time with the MSR and it is my first tail rotor heli... so Im having a good time just keeping it goign in the right direction

@cavok84 great! I am glad you got the mSR, it is really fun, and there is lot sof room to learn new stunts and expand your flying capabilities! To reduce repairs, keep flying how you are, know your limits, and continue to learn slowly. As your 'limits' increase, fly faster, and turning more, and you will continue to be more confident to do more and more types of flight! Good luck!!!!
@earthling1984 got it outside today for the first time , a little windy but only one minor crash , no damage... this thing will haul it for sure. Just need to get to a good open space and get it going... I know its not a true outdooor heli but in low wind it seems to be alright. All in all, way fun!
@hassler100 Firstly, have you got your transmitter in docile mode?
Few people realise that the mSR transmitter has a docile mode which will make the mSR 100 times easier to fly indoors for beginners.
All you need to do is after you have turned everything on before you start flying just push the right control stick on your transmitter in like a button. Then the LED on the transmitter will start flashing. You are now in docile mode.
@hassler100 hmm, well if your tail is spinning to much you are probably just giving too much elevator input. To do circles slowly, you need very little 'elevator' to make the plane to forward, then you use your ailerons to kind of 'tip' into the turn. Use the rudder to turn the planes nose as you turn. keep practising you will get it!
@HAYUPAKARINGID it does work, but not just as well, DX6i has many more options, mixing, and much more settings to do many more things. But yes, the DX5e works just fine.
I love your videos; they are packed with lots of information. I just purchased the Blade MCX 2 and love it. Do you have one and if so will you do a video on it? Thanks
@Engine7601 Thanks :) As for the CX2, no I don't have one. I probably won't get one because I have the original mCX and it is pretty much the same thing. The mCX2 does have some nice new upgrades though, so I'm sure you will enjoy it!
does the msr come with a transmitter because i dont have a one besides the one that i have for my exceed rc raptor g2. and even if that will work with it i dont know how to bind it with my transmitter
@MrSith79 transmitter that comes with it is a basic RTF transmitter. It works just fine, but there are not real 'settings' you can mess with, other than a DR button and trim. TX's like the DX6i and DX7 offer a lot more programming, and also save your model in memory so when flying different models you don't have to rebind/re-trim.
thanks alot! that gives me ideas about blade msr. i have just purchased one tonight and can't wait to fly it. i have a blade cx3 and it flies well with all the upgrades, but when i saw this one i said to myself, "i gotta get one of those." do you know how i can bind this one to my cx3 transmitter? any input would be a big help as i am a beginner myself. thanks again bro!
@balut101 it is a wonderful little helicopter! I'm pretty sure you can bind to the CX3 TX. Just check your TX manual and see how your TX binds. I haven't had a CX3 TX before, but usually binding is done by holding a switch while turning on the TX.
The newer one has a small plastic cap glued onto the tail motor because the backs of the motors were snapping out of place.. i got mine from an ebay store for
$132.49 but the amazing thing about that deal is that it came with an aditional 2 batteries so mine came with 4!! and i was impressed to see the extra batts were in the origanl pacage they are retailed in... so i basicaly got so tax and 2 120mah eflite batteries fot $2.49 :D this thing is awsome!!
@xxxrc4lifexxx very very easy to repair/rebuild it, just like the mCX. It is very durable also, just like the mCX. It is harder to fly, but if you have flown the mCX for a while, you should do just fine.
is this a good beginner heli

@bkarabian spins fast? On it's own, or like when you give input? If it is when you give input, you could try adding some expo to your rudder, this should slow the spin around center of sticks.

hey, do i need to buy a radio seperate from the heli? cuz i heard they dont come with the radio..if so wat radio do u recommend??? thanks
Sa3do0n999 1 year ago
@Sa3do0n999 Hey. No you don't. If you buy the RTF it comes with everything you need to fly!
earthling1984 1 year ago
@Sa3do0n999 if you want a better radio/transmitter. The DX6i is a great choice!

Hey bud, thats a top review... I've been umming and arring about this one for a few weeks now to play with indoors when im not flying my Blade400 i think you just helped me make up my mind :)
Cheers! Great Vid.
TheVTR1000SP2 1 year ago
@TheVTR1000SP2 Thanks! You will love the mSR. It is great to just fly around the living room when you can't fly outdoors!
earthling1984 1 year ago
Cool video, but what do you think i should get a mcx or a msr. I do know alot about rc gliders (i have a easy glider pro) but i only know how to fly hellicopters on the simulator.
45Cuber 1 year ago
@45Cuber if you have never flown helicopters before, starting with a co-axial is the way to go. However, if you have used the simulator a lot, and are comfortable with single rotors, the mSR may be a fine choice too.
earthling1984 1 year ago
i bought the mcx 2 days ago and it is extremely easy and fun, do the msr is diferent or the only diference is the form???
kabe628 1 year ago
@kabe628 Cool! The mSR is different. It is a similar size, but it is a single rotor helicopter and requires much more control to keep it steady. It is great to learn a single rotar design with! I suggest flying the mCX2 around for a while then getting an mSR once you can do all types of flight with the mCX2(like backwords, figure 8's, etc).
earthling1984 1 year ago
@earthling1984 Thanks for the video... I'm still learning on the mCX2, but I have an MSR on my wishlist once I have the coaxial thing figured out. I'm close, but no there yet.
jscott1000 1 year ago
@jscott1000 no problem! You will love the mSR! It is very durable also! Just take it slow and you should be fine; but I agree, make sure you are fully comfortable with the mCX2 before you fly the mSR!

RCsMyLife12 1 year ago
Would you recommend this to someone who has mastered a 3ch coaxial helicopter?
RCsMyLife12 1 year ago
@RCsMyLife12 I would suggest a 4ch coaxial first, like the mCX. This way you will learn how all 4channels move a helicopter. Then step up to the mSR.
earthling1984 1 year ago
I was deciding between this and 120 sr, and went with this because of my many UM batteries, and the small size
rcplaneguy1 1 year ago
@rcplaneguy1 they are very similar! If you plan to fly in your house, the mSR is the best choice because of its small size. It also can u se many UM batteries so if you have some extras, that is great!
earthling1984 1 year ago
how long did the batt last?
domenicrocks 1 year ago
@domenicrocks about 5 to 8 minutes of straight flying.
earthling1984 1 year ago
hey there i wanna ask that i have flown some trainer like the f6f hellcat 4ch and esky nemo. So would you recommend me to buy a eflite ultra micro 4site or the parkzone sukhoi su 26. thanks and your all vidz are great. keep it up
TheMaXrisK 1 year ago
@TheMaXrisK both those are aerobatic planes for intermediate to advanced pilots. You may be able to fly them but you might want to start with something a little less '3d' before you get a sukhoi or 4site.

where wouild u put the bind plug in a helicopter?
SQUIRALBOY43 1 year ago
@SQUIRALBOY43 you don't use or need a bind plug to bind these micro models.
earthling1984 1 year ago
Those micros are best to start with..you learn fast..always can fly justabout anywhere and they don't break unless you crash very often and hit something hard...As he said cut the throtTle if you are about to crash..if not gear can strip blades can break etc...But this size heli is the most crash friendly heli...
3255959 1 year ago
can u tell me how to co this with my blade cx2's radio?
SQUIRALBOY43 1 year ago
@SQUIRALBOY43 I don't have a CX2, but most transmitters have a bind button. Plug in the mSR, then turn on your transmitter in bind mode.
earthling1984 1 year ago
Hey earthling, you might remember me from ur HBFP v2 video. I love that helicopter, but I want something smaller so I can fly inside, and E-Flite helis sure caught my attention, especially the mSR. In fact, I might get an mSR for my birthday in august :]
You're the one who helped me choose an E-Flight heli. AS much as you hate the HBFP2, I'm never going to give up that helicopter.
I might get the BNF version of this heli like you did, will my E-Sky transmitter bind to the MSR? Thanks :]
PepsiRemix5 1 year ago
@PepsiRemix5 once you try an E-flite you won't go back :) I would suggest the mSR if you want a great indoor flier. A new E-flite blade is coming out as well, the Blade 120 SR. This is a little larger than the mSR, but not as large as the SR.
I am not 100% sure if it will bind, but it might. If it is a DSM2 transmitter, it should.
earthling1984 1 year ago
@earthling1984 I've actually now decided on my final decision to get for my birthday. There's a plane called the Hobbyzone Champ (much like E-Flite planes)
It's a very small 3ch plane that really caught my eye, and it comes with a transmitter identical to the mSR's, so if I ever want to get an mSR in the future, I can just bind my Champ TX to it :)
PepsiRemix5 1 year ago
@rcrules1 probably the tail motor... yeah, or the gyro... I can't tell without actually seeing it, but it has to be one of those two.

Hi I am planning to buy msr can you please tell me what spares I should order with this heli and yes I am new to flying. Thanks.
maxjaxreiko 1 year ago
@maxjaxreiko people seem to have these 3 things break: rotors, landing gear, tail motor.
earthling1984 1 year ago
@earthling1984 Thanks I will keep this in mind while purchasing the heli.

Good luck!!!!
earthling1984 1 year ago
@earthling1984 got it outside today for the first time , a little windy but only one minor crash , no damage... this thing will haul it for sure. Just need to get to a good open space and get it going... I know its not a true outdooor heli but in low wind it seems to be alright. All in all, way fun!
cavok84 1 year ago
@cavok84 i love the new mcx2. once i master it i will probably get the msr or sr
27motorider 1 year ago
@hassler100 Firstly, have you got your transmitter in docile mode?
Few people realise that the mSR transmitter has a docile mode which will make the mSR 100 times easier to fly indoors for beginners.
All you need to do is after you have turned everything on before you start flying just push the right control stick on your transmitter in like a button. Then the LED on the transmitter will start flashing. You are now in docile mode.
The difference between the 2 modes is huge!
frankovich213 1 year ago
@hassler100 hmm, well if your tail is spinning to much you are probably just giving too much elevator input. To do circles slowly, you need very little 'elevator' to make the plane to forward, then you use your ailerons to kind of 'tip' into the turn. Use the rudder to turn the planes nose as you turn. keep practising you will get it!

DX5e works just as well as the DX6i :)
HAYUPAKARINGID 1 year ago
@HAYUPAKARINGID it does work, but not just as well, DX6i has many more options, mixing, and much more settings to do many more things. But yes, the DX5e works just fine.

Engine7601 1 year ago
@Engine7601 Thanks :) As for the CX2, no I don't have one. I probably won't get one because I have the original mCX and it is pretty much the same thing. The mCX2 does have some nice new upgrades though, so I'm sure you will enjoy it!

What's the diffence with the transmitter that comes with it and ones that you can buy seperatly? What's the advantages? Oh and top review buddy
MrSith79 1 year ago
@MrSith79 transmitter that comes with it is a basic RTF transmitter. It works just fine, but there are not real 'settings' you can mess with, other than a DR button and trim. TX's like the DX6i and DX7 offer a lot more programming, and also save your model in memory so when flying different models you don't have to rebind/re-trim.
earthling1984 1 year ago
thanks alot! that gives me ideas about blade msr. i have just purchased one tonight and can't wait to fly it. i have a blade cx3 and it flies well with all the upgrades, but when i saw this one i said to myself, "i gotta get one of those." do you know how i can bind this one to my cx3 transmitter? any input would be a big help as i am a beginner myself. thanks again bro!
balut101 1 year ago
@balut101 it is a wonderful little helicopter! I'm pretty sure you can bind to the CX3 TX. Just check your TX manual and see how your TX binds. I haven't had a CX3 TX before, but usually binding is done by holding a switch while turning on the TX.

The newer one has a small plastic cap glued onto the tail motor because the backs of the motors were snapping out of place.. i got mine from an ebay store for
$132.49 but the amazing thing about that deal is that it came with an aditional 2 batteries so mine came with 4!! and i was impressed to see the extra batts were in the origanl pacage they are retailed in... so i basicaly got so tax and 2 120mah eflite batteries fot $2.49 :D this thing is awsome!!

xxxrc4lifexxx 1 year ago
@xxxrc4lifexxx very very easy to repair/rebuild it, just like the mCX. It is very durable also, just like the mCX. It is harder to fly, but if you have flown the mCX for a while, you should do just fine.
