  • i love you voice..i love your classes. good job

  • Great lesson! I want to know more when I say "I hope you do" and "I hope you will do" in "I hope you (will ?) find your keys". Thanks.

  • In giving a short answer, use the auxiliary verb [be, do, have] and not the whole verb: Example 1 - "I hope I find my keys." "I hope you do, too." Example 2 - "My keys aren't in my pocket. I hope I'll find my keys in the car." "I hope you didn't lock them in." "I hope so, too." Example 3 - "I didn't my find keys upstairs. Maybe I'll find them downstairs." "I hope you('ll) find them soon. We have to leave within the hour."
  • Thanks again though I wasn't really wondering about giving a short answer. Here's what you say: "I hope you('ll) find them soon." And you put "will" in (). So my question is Why do you sometime say: "I hope I find my keys" but other time you say: "I hope I'll find my keys" ? Is this "will" optional? Thanks.

  • In a complete sentence, when referring to the future, you can use the simple present or the simple future:

    1) I hope you find them.

    2) I hope you'll find them.

I just want to be certain you know it's not correct to say: "I hope you will do." Okay?

Suggestion: Now go back to the earlier segments of this lesson (4a, 4b, 4c) and pay careful attention to the verb tenses used in the examples.

  • Oh, yes, thanks! Now I got it! :)

  • so it's not correct to use the future simple but only the simple present if it's not a complete sentence, right?

the correct sentece is : 'i hope you do'

can you say ' i hope' instead of 'I hope so' ?

  • dont forget us.

keep going you do it very well.

  • WHAT A BEAUTIFUL LESSON! i wish you will be a great teacher forever. I wish iam a big fan of you.

  • Jennifer,I just came here today not to comment any video or asking you for some help but I'm here to wish you and your whole family:happy new year!Best!

  • I love your voice. You should really go to a radio station and work as a commentator. I can only get that voice when I catch a cold, that's bad. Not like you, born of nature.

  • hi from mexico again.

    thank you and Happy Christmas.

    keep going.

    my five stars for u =) =)

  • Really a good video, thank you and Happy Christmas.

    Anton

  • that 's so great . thank you for sharing videos

  • sublime!

  • TY very much... your vids are so helpful...

  • Thank you for yet another great and interesting lesson!

Is it wrong to say, "I hope you will succeed"? Should I say, "I hope you succeed"?

  • You might encounter the simple present a bit more, but both are acceptable.

  • Bonus challenge:

Now go back and answer the questions posed in Lesson 4a:

    - What do you wish for this Christmas?

    - What are your hopes for the New Year?
