@mediamaster9kalt It's highly unlikely they took it from this video game, far more likely they took it from the original that Rob Hubbard did, Prokofiev's Montagues and Capulets.
@mediamaster9kalt Correct! The original was completed in 1953, although, unlike popular music there isn't really an definitive version since sheet music is not as accurate as most recording methods so every time the tune is played, the conductor has some freedom in how they think it should be played. Brilliant tune though and this is a pretty good version of Prokofiev's score: /watch?v=r3eBS1ktmvU&feature=related
It sure took me a while to figure out where this actual tune came from, but it's very well suited to Sanxion. I bought a CD with Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet because of this. Pretty awesome.
@jamiemh76: the demoscene is still alive and kicking in europe for c64 and amiga. Check out the C64 demo, Edge of Disgrace by Booze Design. The visuals are amazing and it pushes the sid.
All we need now is an 8-bit Muse to come on stage and play a chiptune version of Knights Of Cydonia!

I actually prefer this SID rendition to all the others I've heard, it just fits together nicely.

It is of course an old classical piece. Sergey Prokofiev: Dance of the Knights, from Romeo and Juliet ...
