It seems like the last 2 seasons had the worst cast. I've watched the first 6 seasons so far, and I've already noticed that the show is different, probably because Brandon was the only Walsh left at that point. It's like after the 5th season the family feeling of the show is gone.

It woulda made more sense to have Brandon and Valerie leave in one show, while in the same show or the next, bringing Dylan and Gina in; that way the opening could have been updated just once.

And we could have seen reunions/goodbyes of Brandon/Val/Dylan.

Best ever opening: Season 6 v1. Love when they all stood there at the end. They must have shot two at once, knowing Luke Perry was leaving: one with, one without.

honestly i watched the show faithfully from the beginning until about the time brandon left. I didnt even realize that valerie had left the show until i turned it on to see what was happening. then it just wasnt interesting anymore. The only time i watched the show again is when david and donna got married i thought that ended the show perfectly. its just a shame that season 9 and 10 kind of sucked with the exception of the wedding.

The reason why these shows could work forever is because they relate to real life and not over the top Like Dynasty was...but it was a precursor to the times that each show represented. Everyone who is now 30-35 grew up with Dynasty, Melrose Place, 90210 and many other shows...it was like a reflection of our lives and made us think that this could be us, young and succesful and still have problems.
