  • listening to this passionate, moody, and ultimately, triumphant interpretation by Alex, we can all only just get a hint of the magnitude of our loss. I've seen a b&w video of his Russian audition for the VC Int'l (c. 1988). A thrilling rendition of Proko's percussive Son (6 or 7). He could have been another G Sokolov in his mechanics and another Bolet with his poet's heart. Van thought highly of him.
