thanx for the help just got an older engine just like that for my mini bike (mines a bit bigger) was not sure what was wrong till i saw these vids now no my float had a hole and to much air was going in so 5 bucks fixed it now puting a mini bike together ur a big help thanx
We have the same motor and the linkages are messed up. I can tell because the throttle starts at wide open and the mechanic thought it governed down, but I can see you are adjusting the throttle and its affecting the carb without any governor action. Can you help me find a picture of how the linkages are supposed to be? I was ready to scrap the job. ..Dan Thanks, too
@donyboy73 In its natural state not connected, not running, etc. does the throttle spring on the carb keep the throttle at the idle position or WOT? I think our new carb is starting at WOT; any ideas why this would be? Looks like you are down on the idle screw.. If I'm missing any linkage parts do you have those? Thanks.
@donyboy73 You are right, I finally found it on your #2 video somewhere between 3:50 and 4:00, sorry to bother you, but I didn't catch it until I watched several times.
Thanks a bunch for posting, we were ready to scrap the motor. If I need linkage parts; are they available through you?
It may be just me but I would've also cleaned the exterior also. I like dipping my carberators in a gallon of Berryman Carberator Cleane r. It's essentially a one gallon tin paint can with a basket. It works great. Submersing the entire carberator in carb cleaner ensures that any old gasoline residue is disolved and your carberator cleaned in and out.
I have a generator with a Tecumseh engine on it and has never been run since buying it. I tried to start it once, but it did not start so I parked it for 10 years.
i have the same motor on my mini bike wich dosent run... the fuel comes out og the vent hole cause the carburator float in the bowl got stuck open nd is 30+ years old... word of advice i believe you should buy a in line fuel filther to put on the fule line it comes with a short length of fuel line so you dont have to cut your line and it can go ftom the tank to tha carb. this video has come in hhandy for me... what website did you order the rebuild kit from? good job.
Where can you get gaskets for the bottom of these carbs? Can you use a washer instead? Can't seem to find the gaskets...their almost like paper.

Great Video! Rebuilt my carb. and it runs great! After I shut it off it leaks gas out of the air intake?? Any Ideas what I've done wrong?
thedilsavers 1 year ago
@thedilsavers check the float to make sure it doesn't have gas in it. replace the needle and seat and make sure float is adjusted right
