The reason why this fool went to the Caucasus in search of this dog is there was this legend that the golden retriever descends from a breed called a Russian Tracker that was used as a sheepdog in the Caucasus. One name for golden retrievers was the Russian Retriever. I know you guys will think this is hilarious.
There was once a rumor that a Caucasian Ovtcharka of this color was the ancestor of the golden retriever. What a horrible legend! I think one fool even went tot he Caucasus looking for a dog like this to breed into his golden retrievers. I'm sorry, but this dog would be as useless as a retriever as a golden would be as a watch dog or livestock guardian.
