@dagocleo I think this field was around 50 acres......small for this unit. Usually it's the other way around....like plane seats.....didn't they used to be bigger years ago? or is it all in the food we eat? lol
unfair, I am stuck in the city now and can't get out to drive tractors anymore! I am jealous. I drove tractors and Grass combines for years.I sure miss it. Thank you for taking the time to video this, your the best. Your going to move hay on the next one, or just "watch" it.
@3rdStreetStudio Geez....I'm jealous too.....I wish I could drive the tractor :-( I wasn't doing anything.....just bugging them.....and fighting off mosquitoes....little ones with big teeth!! I'm gonna bug them during haying season....hahahaha :-)
@mobiltec yup....just like crazy said.....a GPS....shows what's been planted....it's actually pretty cool.....I never saw it before until now. Thanks :-)
@Orangesunshine1 HAHAHA.....shhhh....I am just pretending to be both......it's a tough act to follow.....LOL Thanks again :-) p.s. I hope the oranges are getting the sunshine.....the oats need it now, we've been getting a lot of rain!
That is a neat taste of farm life Rita. So what is the actual process? Does the green machine prepare the ground and the rows for the seed and then the yellow machine disperse the seed into the rows? And does it also have have water in the tank to get the seeds going? Or does the seed lay on the surface of the dry earth and just do it's thing naturally? How much rain or water is needed to help the oats come to maturity? How long does that take? Fascinating stuff!
@davidcmather OMG Dave!! LOL I'm just the filmer....LOL The earth was prepared before.....the yellow tanks, hold the seed, fertilizer and nitrogen......the green part....pushes the seeds and the rest down....ummm....so many cm....not sure how many. The rain has to water them....and that is how the life of the oat is started.....LOL The little prong thingies.....level things out.....OMG....HAHAHAHA Does that answer all your questions?? LOL
@artistfarmer Wow! That's neat. I'm really just an ignorant city boy with no clue about how my food arrives on the Safeway shelves. LOL So are oats primarily for the animals or could they be sold to make Quaker Oats for humans? Do farmers grow the oats for their own livestock or sell them to the grainerys or both?
@davidcmather they are used to feed the livestock, or are sold or some of the oats are kept for next years seeding. Not sure what they're doing with these. I grew up in cowtown too....but just have to ask a lot of questions...and try to remember the answers....lol
@artistfarmer Rita does Alberta require you to have a licence to buy nitrogen i believe they would classify it under a pestaside licence well anyways here in ontario if you buy nitrogen you are required to have a licence to buy it.
@dog12008 Chris....I don't think you need a license, but you have to be a registered farming operation with a land location....but don't quote me on that.....I've never bought any.
@artistfarmer well i know if you buy alot of Nitrogen here in ontario you are gonna be a supicious person unless you have a leget lanf or farm i believe here .
