I say that awareness is sensory reactions and perception is a process of understanding sense data. Consciousness is awareness of perception and the perception of that awareness.
This I simplify into meta-awareness because 'sense data' equates to 'sensory reactions' over time and this means awareness is essential to perception.
One is conscious because awareness is perceived. How awareness is perceived is a function of memory and understanding.
When a particle's quantum information changes it is not remembered but lost, because that information defines the particle.
On the quantum scale a particle interaction changes the particle in such a fundamental way that the particle can no longer be considered the same.
One could say that particle interaction destroys the particles involved and creates new particles. From our perspective one could say merely the particle changes in some way but only unchanged information is preserved.
Uh... consciousness is in our brain. Temporary states like drugs and electrical stimulation literally alter consciousness, allowing one to become more or less aware. Also, amputees do not become less capable of being aware whereas those with brain damage can become drastically different.
Consciousness is mental but awareness is sensory. Without picking on semantics I would say that consciousness is meta-awareness i.e. awareness of having awareness.
@unkledanbot Again we connect different meaning to the word "consciousness" and thus can't come to the same conclusion. Your understanding of "consciousness" is "my" understanding of "self-consciousness". When I say "consciousness" I mean the a-b-i-l-i-t-y of all matter and things including water, rocks, vegetation and living beings of being aware.
Awareness requires consciousness but no brain. Self-consciousness is mental, brain-dependant and what you mean by "awareness of having awareness".
@iRibbit7 If consciousness is the ability of being aware then is one aware because one is conscious or is one conscious because one is aware?
Your definition presupposes that all matter is able to be aware because that is the definition of consciousness. This is a fallacy of circular reasoning.
If self-awareness is awareness of self as opposed to meta-awareness then consciousness is meta-awareness and self-consciousness is meta-awareness of self.
@unkledanbot Wait, this is less about semantic arguments but about the meaning assigned to words; after all it's not a topic well thought about in society, e.g the difference of consciousness and awareness. How would you call the ability...
1. of atoms to react with other atoms and build molecules?
@iRibbit7 Semantics is the study of meaning. When you say it is about meaning assigned to words you are saying it is about semantics. Perhaps therein lies the problem? Semantic problems are a topic well thought about in society throughout history, actually.

2-7 are related to sensory perception but what makes you think atoms/particles are thus capable?
@unkledanbot That makes sense and thanks for clarifying the first part...nothing added. I now see my uncommon understanding of consciousness since I see it as something else then awareness. I wrote this yesterday
1. of atoms to react with other atoms and build molecules?"
It's just energy. Energy is the reason for that ability. The forces of nature themselves split off from energy. It basically all comes down to energy being used.
'What creates what?' we already extracted a core truth out of current paradigms. June-22-2011--Space, time, matter and energy exist, but why? This creating entity is target of our search. A search that can not be done by the mind though Space, time, matter and energy exist,Focus ,Dreams. INFO-AWARENESS- TRUTH PERCEPTION
And that's the beauty of science. The author of this video took inspiration not from personal philosophies, that most likely fail, nor dubious religious scripts. It is the Copernician pragmacity, the Cartesian tradition, the Einsteinian genious and Feynman wonder that drive true knowledge to get the position it deserves. You can't really agree or disagree with the video, but it makes you think and challenges you. That is a big deal.
I started looking deep about everything about 2 years ago. From space, time, matter social science and politics. I learn a lot of stuff that is trully shocking. This video just explained everything in a most peacefull way. Im addicted to watching all hs video everyday!
heres something to think about, did you create your own identity, or did someone else create it for you. think about that, real hard. One day you'll realize that your not the person you thought you were, and then you find you can create others in your own image. Now what? Good luck with that.
@MTmaster123 Oneness creates itself over and over again, without a beginning nor end. It wasn't created and will never cease to exist. It is always changing and you can experience this change because it is Now.
You are right to say that Oneness is God but remember that nothing is not Oneness.
the universe works like evolution theory, the universe created us, to understand himselfs (yea i now its egocentric point of view, but for now its all we have)
Thank you for helping me realize everything much better, i realize now when I touch something my brain tells me that it is there, so who decides what is real and what isn't real? If that is all that takes to decide what is real then my mind defines it. Then what isn't real?
Hey :) Yes, everything is real, however, we'll never be able to perceive this reality. And it's not exactly correct to say that your brain is"telling" you something... The brain is (just) a 3-dimensional image/shadow/perception and thus in reality something else. However, the brain is the "lense" that makes us experience our world within our Soul. So the Soul tells you that something exists. Your mind would only try to make you believe that the way you perceive it is all there is.
I think I know what you're trying to do here. The fact is though, until one has actually "heard" the "Silence," and "experienced Void," NOT as some dead nihilistic promise of doom, but as a ringingless-ringing/motionless-movement, pregnant with infinite potential, a dynamic NO-THING welling-up from the depths of your awareness, (even if -as in my case- for only five minutes), you message will not be understood. It's too slippery.....
the problem with this theory is that humans are a 'mistake' so to say.
we could have evolved to not have such a powerful brain and then all this would be irrelevant.
there is no 'creating entity' unless proven otherwise, when it comes to the origin of life on Earth the controversy is meaningless, evolution has been proven many times over while religion has yet to prove their bullshit, its still unknown what caused the big bang it could have a solid scientific explanation,it doesnt have to be god.
hmm...i still must think on this a little more. But your questions on eyes of an eagle smell of a dog, and hearing of a cat were EXCELLENT! It makes me wonder reality, because we only base that question off of OUR senses as human beings.
@iRibbit7 I am spiritual and not religious. I do not accept these terms as being synonymous with one another. I believe that spirituality is not a search, but an acknowledgement, a connection.
To elaborate on my own understanding,
I say that awareness is sensory reactions and perception is a process of understanding sense data. Consciousness is awareness of perception and the perception of that awareness.
This I simplify into meta-awareness because 'sense data' equates to 'sensory reactions' over time and this means awareness is essential to perception.

@iRibbit7 Cool, I'd like to point out that I'm using my own understanding of consciousness, awareness, perception, and sensation.
Looking it up I see that there is hardly a consistent common usage.
The problem is of nested definitions and avoiding circular reasoning.
If consciousness evolves into awareness then whence comes consciousness?

@Johnfrooshlover
Definitely not a clear statement... you're rough on me here!
Well, two things
1. Some people connect spirituality with religion. This view is removed by awakening.
2. Spiritual awakening is a remembering.
"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we're spiritual beings having a human experience." (quoted from Chardin)
Let's say, I lost my keys, and the activity of looking for them we call Spirituality. Once I found the keys, did Spirituality exist?
