  • i am a deaf/HOH teenage girl of hearing parents, i know there are CODAs but is there a term for the opposite?

  • Comment removed

  • the parents are sooo easy and patient they are amazing ;D

  • I didn't expect to see a family with Deaf parents on this show, but I'm glad I did! It was a good episode. :) CODAs definitely have it rough, so I'm glad Jo got to visit and help them! I wonder how many CODAs continue to have trouble throughout their lives... Anyway, I love the games that Jo comes up with. I can't wait to play games with my own family someday so I can help and watch them learn and grow.

  • @TheApisLaeta Ummm...not to be rude but I've never heard the term CODA. What does it stand for and/or mean?

  • @HellfireXChaotica Nah, that's not rude! It stands for "children of Deaf adults." It typically refers to hearing children of Deaf adults; I've never heard it refer to Deaf children of Deaf adults. Often times, a CODA is required to grow up early because he/she has to translate for the parent, which may involve conversations that children shouldn't normally have to worry about. There are other things that can cause harm, such as embarrassment towards ASL or their parents, etc. Hope that helps! :)

  • 1:09 - The girl in the middle seems not to be that happy...

  • Melissa,

you bring tears to my eyes. If the world were full of people like you, it would be a wonderful, peaceful place. You are a beautiful adorable woman. All the best for your life!

    Best from Switzerland!

  • Melissa is really a good daughter. I really like this family. Thanks for posting!

  • Melissa is a very rare young woman, I hope the best for her and her famliy.

  • Anybody think their story would make a GREAT movie?!!

  • @newsgirl132 Ypu cant beat those thumbs ups :p But i actually do, so here you go :P

  • @Holstboy haha that wasn't even my reason for making that comment. but thanks :)

  • This was such a beautiful story!

  • That English Accent is soooooooooo hot

  • jo(super nanny) is a miracle she turns demons to angels

  • Now I'm no Prince charming, but if I were to have a wife whom I'd want to spoil, it'd be Melissa.

  • i had to babysit an 11 year old, an 8 1/2 year and an 7 1/2 year old once and it was crazy.the little ones gang up on the oldest and annoy her, then the oldest bites them, then the little ones kick, then the oldest locks them in basement. they both yell "i have to go pee!" and oldest ignores them so they pee on the floor and smash the light bulbs. i was gone for 10 min. i saw it from a camera i put in the living room and heard every word. melissa probly fells like screaming a lot with those kids

  • @SpeedyDash123 OMG! That is hilarious! You describe it so well.

  • @SpeedyDash123 I had to babysit my own cousins and it was tough... I got bitten. By all of them. At the same time. It damn hurt. The older sis ganged up with one of her friends (the other two were asleep) who came over for a sleepover to bully her younger bro, and he started crying cuz they took all his car toys and wouldn't return them. It was easy for me to coax him though. I just said, "Go into your room. I'll bring you your cars, I promise." and he went in. He's my second favorite cousin .

  • i can't believe they had all this family reunion thing and the parents go on a cruise without Melissa!!!

  • Why does this episode keep reminding me of family guy?!? (Melissa's Meg in this case)

  • mellisa have hot tits

  • melissa needs to have a lifetime of her own at least once...

  • @thekingofpop246 yeah I agree.. she needs the vodka and dope and not the stress with her annoying ass sisters

  • i love the way melissa did her hair.

  • Absolutely fantastic! Well done, Melissa! Your strength amazed me!

  • That's such a great episode! I think Melissa is the one needing a cruise, not the parents. I think she needs to take a trip with mum really, that would be the best thing. To get closer again. She's taken on too much of the parental responsibilities in the past, which isn't fair towards her. She's very mature, but we can also see that she really wants her parents to be parents to HER as well as her siblings.

  • Im Glad those little girls are learning American Sign Language

  • Melissa deserves the best I really love her personality and her maturity as such a young lady I do honestly wish her the best. Jo is an angel! <3

  • yea right she sais they're all having fun , but the lil girl in black was SO unhappy she's been so far behind.. sure she been crying at 1:10

  • omg that girl was chasing the other one with a mallet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Aww, kind of felt sorry for Jessica (the girl in black during that dice rolling sign language game), just standing there in the back >.<

  • I feel that when you...plan to go on a cruise...all you think is the cruise. You do not think about us. You don't call us. Nothing. I did everything. I went to school. I went to work, it was hard. I don't like it. I can't do that. I have to much stress. In the future...if you want to go out for a or two...that would be fine, but...not for one week. One week, no. Don't take advantage of me, as your daughter

  • @suewilly1237 She was very clear and eloquent there. I found that very moving. A very strong girl.

  • lol They were all happy...you can see the girl in the black shirt crying at 1:08 cuz she was pissed that she lost LOOOL

  • They should send Melissa on a vacation instead of going!

  • Melissa is so beautiful that is the type of girl I wanna date hard working an sweet not a slut who goes around partying an shit, I honestly hope when she is older she finds a good guy she actually deserves to be happy

  • melissa is an amazing young woman...at least she will be quite prepared when she has children of her own!

  • melissa is so pretty and nice she helps out alot like i do i wonder if she was the girl that did hot n cold in snl on youtube i think she is but the girl that did but the videos down =( i want to learn snl too i have been trying for a year now

  • i know how to say "uh o spagellie o's" in sign language. its easy to learn, i might learn more ^^

  • @MirandaCutePeach i know how to say " koolaid" together me and you can order up one fine meal!!! ..lets do it!

  • @MirandaCutePeach You should learn more. You will make a difference to the lives of many people if you take that step.

  • the girl in black look sad bcoz she lose the game =)

  • hmm... after watching this i might possibly decide to learn ASL.

  • @HYDfan99 You should. Think about it. Think about the considerable amount of difference you will make to the lives of many deaf people and their relatives if you make that step.

  • to me, the fact that none of the younger kids knew sign language shows how much the parents had dropped the ball and relied on Melissa. She has been the one who has had to take care of the majority of the child rearing responsibilities, because if the parents were acting as parents, the kids would have known ASL. I believe her when she said she had to take care of the kids during the last cruise. It's possible there were adults there, but there are adults here too, and she still does the work.

  • Aww Melisa is amazing & sweet! them kids was little devils lol but been a parenting you have to realise thats what reponsiblity u'll have to take on, with me i no and when im older i want kids still!xXx

  • THE END HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

  • Melissa is beautiful

  • I like nanny's accent :)

  • the endings funny lol

  • They are very fortunate to have such a level headed daughter in Melissa. The 3 little ones are blessed to have a sister like her. What an amazing young lady.

  • haha @ all the thumbs down. Either people are really gullible or have no sense of humor.

  • The parents should take Melissa along on the cruse. She needs 1

  • @liloboy911808 well... it is a deaf cruse... they said that when they were first talking about it

  • Melissa is very mature and very sweet. What an incredible young woman!

  • lol at the ending

  • WHAT? are you sure about that????

  • Aww... Melissa should be the one going on a cruise!!! XD

  • it seems like on a lot of these shows the kids arent really the problem, its the parents who drop the ball.

  • <3 melissa. god bless her :)

  • bad girls :::::::

  • omd, scary girl wiv a mallet!!!!!!! i feel really sorry 4 mellisa, i hve a younger sista like dat, i hve 2 cook & clean 2 house,my own & my grandparents & im onli 13, so i no how she feels!!!!!!

  • i think the game is really cute!!

  • the parents have not enough sense of responsibility. at least they know now.

  • I've seen this in a lot of families. One of the oldest kids winds up taking care of the other children and the parents get slack.

  • Melissa seems great

  • THANX FOR POSTING!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i agree

  • Every couple needs time away from their kids. They could continue to have relatives look after the kids and pay for Melissa to go away to a teen camp in the summer.

  • Even if they don't go, a camp for young adults would do Melissa some good. For once she'd just get to be young.

  • GREAT ADVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
