Oh, please ! Mayor Bloomberg is the reason that same-sex marriage cannot legally be performed in New York. After NY Supreme Court Judge Doris Ling-Cohan issued a judicial ruling that the right to marry the person of one's choosing was both a privacy right and a liberty right, her decision was appealed by order of Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Rent hikes are normal. I get a rent hike every year, and I also try to give one. It's called inflation.
One dollar in 1900 is worth almost $100 now. New York apartments once rented for $10/week. Those days are over, buddy.
Don't blame Mike. Blame the US Congress and the Federal Reserve. Our currency is toilet paper. 40 years ago it was 450 yen to the dollar. 5 years ago it was 120 yen to the dollar. Now it is 92 yen to the dollar. We just keep printing more paper.
"Mr. Bloomberg knows that his reputation has taken hard blows in the fight over term limits. But he is apparently betting that the passage of time will restore whatever he may have lost in respectability." -- Clyde Haberman, NYTimes, October 27, 2008.
"Mr. Bloomberg's popularity is high, but his handling of protesters to the 2004 Republican National Convention, when thousands of demonstrators were swept off the streets and detained, is a black mark on his record for many New Yorkers and civil libertarians." -- NYTimes
Don't we want NYC to be attractive to conventions? Doesn't that bring money into NYC? Do protests make NYC alluring to them?
Please think of this in terms of basic economics. You want public transportation to be affordable, but you want to do things that cause NYC to have lower revenues from hotel taxes. You cannot drive away business and tax revenues and demand more spending at the same time.
I have seen many videos of Bloomberg walking up to protesters and asking them, "What's up?"
There would be no protests if we all lived together, respecting each other. Don't you believe that people have a freedom to express themselves, to peacefully assemble, or to have their votes counted ? Or do you think that democracy is only actualised through conventions that lock up New Yorkers by the thousands, as the NYT reported ? People have a right to say that they dont support war, domestic spying, or illegal use of torture.
I support protests in Iran. They have something worth protesting about. In principle, I don't see anything wrong with peaceful, non-disruptive protests. But these were not ordinary protests. Their purpose is to spoil an event, not to have their own event. The protesters should have their own event instead.
Anyway, what are you complaining about? Who died? It's not like Kent State. There's not Neda like in Iran.
There are Neda's in America. Consider: Matthew Shepard, Brandon Teena, Gwen Araujo, Harvey Milk, and Barry Winchell, as a sample of some people who have been murdered in America solely based on who they are and how they express themselves to be. But you already know that, seeing as how you are just Miss hoochee004 using another fake YouTube profile.
Manhattan is an expensive place to live. Bloomberg is getting more housing built. This is fantastic.
When rich people move into those luxury apartments, it will bring down the price of the older apartments where they are currently living.
By letting NYU and Columbia build huge dormitories, it means that students will not be competing with locals for housing or clogging up public transportation.
In Econ 101 I learned about supply and demand curves. Normally, where the two curves intersect, the price is set. However, if you freeze the rent while the demand increases, there will be a shortage.
NYC has not grown enough. The population increased by only about 1 million to 8.3 million from the 1970s. Tokyo, Paris, London, Shanghai, Mumbai, etc., have grown vastly more.
Renters do not have a God given right to live in their rent-controlled slums in the most expensive city in the USA.
He only supports gay rights when there's a photo-op, which makes him a "photo-op" queen, if you ask me.
His idea of making NY green is to destroy entire neighborhoods to build more city-financed $port$ $tadium$.
And lastly, while you may "zip" into MH on the subway, how much more has it been costing you ? If he cared about mass transit, he'd do something about the cost of living for the average worker in the 5 boroughs.
Mayor Bloomberg is an Independent (I) who was previously a Democrat (D) and Republican (R). You can find him photographed with dozens of Democrats (D). Your video is misleading.
You know that you can pay much more than $115 for a day's worth of parking in downtown Manhattan. The public transportation is dirt cheap compared to parking or parking tickets, even after the increases.
I understand your pain, my friend. But I cannot determine my vote on a single issue. I'm less interested in the cost of public transportation as the time and inconvenience required to commute.
There are stock brokers living as far away as Connecticut, because they want to live in a safe environment and cannot afford the Village. I would like to see Harlem and and Brooklyn gentrified to eliminate the need for the long commute.
Perhaps Hoochee thinks the lower wage earners should be forced to commute to Connecticut ? That would be a real travesty. Meanwhile, gays made the Village what it is, and now no gays can afford the Village, either. Maybe gays should be forced to commute from as far away as Connecticut, too ? Oh, what a world, what a world !?
What happened to Miss Hoochee0005 profile ? Has that account been suspended, yet ?
Meanwhile, I'm not the only one who sees the dangers of Bloomberg's association with sexist, homophobic pig Republicans. Haven't you seen the recent Bill Thompson YouTube video, which expresses the same concern ?
I completely support gay rights and gay marriage, just like Mike Boomberg does!

Was wondering why the view count on this video has not been changing. YouTube reports that : . . . "statistics cannot be made public. "

I hope that this video has been seen thousands of times. At least now Mayor Bloomberg's campaign can't figure out the real hit count.

No votes for politicians that support rent hikes.

8 straight years of rent hikes, and Mayor Bloomberg wants to keep doing more of the same.

Mike Bloomberg has donated more of his own money to helping the poor and needy than all past governors of NYC combined.
I love being able to phone 311 to get things fixed in the city. It also unburdens 911. What a brilliant idea.
Bloomberg is my hero for busting the corrupt NYC Board of Education. Even Guilliani couldn't do that.
Bloomberg is willing to talk to protesters, reply to emails from critics, and treats all races, genders, and orientations with respect.

How many times during his two terms has Bloomberg won rent freezes by the NYC Rent Guidelines Board ?

You can find just as many photographs of Bloomberg with Democrats, and he has been endorsed by prominent Democrats.
Bloomberg supports gay rights. I love him!
Also, he has done so much to make NYC green.
I can just zip into Manhattan now by subway, leaving my car at one of those affordable car parks he had built.
