Turks are relatively a very young nation which was solely based on the islamic religion. Back in 1922 they named "Turk" just anyone muslim. Imagine that Kurds had been termed as ... "mountainous Turks". In reality Turks derive at 60% of local eastern-central Minor Asian people then sprinkled with all sorts of people they conquered.
It is only a 10% related with Greeks and this is reducing due to differential birthrates as they are usually the upper class in Turkey (accidental? I do not think so)

Greeks in Minor Asia resided in west coast and in north coast but surprisingly not in south coast though the Greek island of Cyprus was just opposite. This is because there ancient Greeks built their colonies massively (they had built in Cyprus so they did not need to to do so in south Minor Asian coast).
And where did Greeks survive up to the genocide of 1910-1922? It was in west Minor Asia and North Minor Asia.
