thank you for this song there really is no other way once you have tried everything else. drugs only get you worst off, sex only goes so far, killing (i don't no never did that but you eventually get caught). So if I would've tried God first that would've saved alot of pain and heart ache, but I do thank God for the experience how else can I tell my two kids about the dangers of the world unless i lived IN it? Thank You Lord for being the best option!
LOL, it's mad funny that the person who uploaded it had to make it clear that she didn't want people commenting about the speed. Because the speed is unusual.
I know there is a meaage about not commenting the speed but I think the speed is just perfect. I have always loved this song. There is nothing like the original. I am so glad for the posting of this and many of the old great gospel songs by the great singers and choirs.
You just don't hear great gospel music like this anymore. Today's gospel doesn't have the same feel or the same meaning as it did many years ago. Milton Brunson & TCS definitely made their mark as of the most dynamic choirs in the history of gospel music. This is real gospel music and I will forever cherish it and it's place in music history.
This song killed the decade if u ask me...i remember my dad playing their album when i was a child, and now that im old enough to truly understand the meaning behind the words, my sould cries out..and im so blessed by this song..praise God...he's truly awesome...
Refuge Temple and Solomon Temple combined choir just Blows this song away under the anointing. It's like the roof of the building is going to come off.
I love this song. It gets you through your going through

After reading all 168 comments we can agree that this was a good post. We can thank minjalewissr for doing so,the memories and the knowledge that The Tommies did the song first. Let's not lose the fact that God's message was delivered through all the choirs recorded or sang it at their church. Peace be unto all of you.
I am just glad that you had this copy for this was the song that I was looking for and could not remember who sung it. this is a beautiful song with meaning that stands the test of time.
THERE IS NO OTHER WAY! BLESS THE ONE WHO PLACE THIS VERSION ON , BECAUSE WHEN YOU NEED TO HEAR THE WORD IN SONG GOD AND THE SPIRIT BRINGS THE BLESSINGS.
"minjalewissr", you asked for no comment about the speed. I'm sorry sir. I am "ole school". This sounds just like the original. I will not leave a negative comment at all. My slogan for the year: "2009 - doing fine; 2010 - tryin' to make it in; 2011 - I'm on my way to Heaven". I thank you sir just for sharing and posting such a memorable song from a remarkable man with an outstanding choir. GOD BLESS YOU AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I need help my internet buddies (esp. minjalewissr). I need the song by Rev. Milton Brunson "United" or something to that fact. It is known as one of the original songs linking "unity" together. Someone sent it to me, but that sapsucker Satan won't allow me to pull it up by the title. Need some HELP!! Also, REV. MILTON BRUNSON WAS A KIND MAN - HE WANTED US TO PRAISE GOD, NOT ARGUE OVER WOH WROTE IT.
God knows i have tried to make it on my own,i cant do it ,Lord i need your help i cant do it without your help. This song is so profound!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!THANK YOU JESUS.
There is no "good, better or best" performance when it comes to the gospel truth. It's simple: There is no way, any of us Believers can live without Christ! To Him be the glory. It's all good. Our choir sang this song in the late 80s and my sister did the solo, quiet well I might add and the message has not changed. THERE IS NO WAY I CAN LIVE WITHOUT CHRIST!
@ArchAngelo7th The credit for "More Abundantly" belongs to James Hall & Worship and Praise. It appears on their first album. Ricky loved it so much, that he asked for permission to re-record it. Because James Hall's choir was still relatively new, Ricky's version overshadowed the original, which was IMO, better.
@AquSon the original "More Abundantly" was first recorded by Rev. Donald Vails and his Choraleers...Its on youtube...its on their 1988 album...check it out.....i kinda like the original better.
@vsumass Seems like everyone keeps saying the same thing about liking original versions of songs better than subsequent remakes. I find that very interesting, and think it says a lot about today's music.

one of my greatest favoirits sang it in the early 80's. sounds very good because the words meaning never change. There is no other way without Christ.
My parents sang this song in there young adult choir in the 70's. They had a reunion in the 90's and it was the first time I heard it. Loved it since then. A lot of choirs are doing it now and so many people think it's new. Thanks for the original!
This is wonderful, I sang this song in 1988. And need it for a reunion. I forgot some of the words, but thanks to you Im ready. May God bless you. And Thanks again for this post..AWESOME!!!
Thank you for posting this. I don't care about the speed or turn table or whatever. Thank you for taking the time out to post it. One of my favorites and one of the songs I used to lead when I was in the youth choir. THANK YOU!!!!
@csneaky and gabrielmaxey, Ricky Dillard was part of the Thompson Community Singers back when this song was popular in the 80s. Ricky also covered Milton Brunson songs like Keys To The Kingdom and If Everybody Had Jesus on his first album that featured the hit song More Abundantly.
Funny but Ricky Dillard(Uncle Ricky) is what we called him was a member of my church First Union MBC in the early to mid 80's...which I've never heard him mention or given credit to because he was anointed by God of course but schooled by some of the best choir directors there ever was or will be (Rev. Darnell Hopkins and Michael Willis) that was before he was blessed with career. Right as he was making it big. A lot of New G style and sound is reflections of First Union MBC choir
and speaking of More Abundantly..Ricky and New G remade More Abundantly they weren't the original choir that made it...I can't remember th name of the original choir. Although Ricky and New G did a great job on it I like the original version better

this album spped is perfect you can hear all the real instruments and the powerful voices of REV> Milton Brunsons Thompsom community singers and sylvia sang this song like no one else
Man choir reahearsal turned into worship service last night, I cannot wait to sing this on Sunday. It was the perfect song to detail things I've been going through lately. It was my first time back to choir rehearsal after being away showing out. This song ministered to me so much, doing it all alone in this world caused me so many pains. HALLELUJAH !!! I have a testimony in all of this though so thank God for that.
Let's not lose ourselves in who gets the credit for this awesome testimony expressed in song and give God the glory regardless of who is singing it. To God be the glory.
Ah dude i love this song it really take me back to a time in my life when my sister died and I had to realize I could not live with our Christ in my life thanks for posting it you are the BEST
The information you see is based on information found on the album. If it is incorrect, then Mr. Bady and Ms. Farmer should settle it with the producers and the record company. Anyone who owns the album can only go by what is printed on it. Based on album information, Mr. Bady is credited with writing this song. How is the general public supposed to "get it rite" when all we do is go by the information that is available to us?
Anything contrary to what is printed in the album information is nothing more than hearsay and rumor until it is legally proven in a court of law. Therefore, PERCY BADY WROTE THE SONG. If someone else wrote it, they should have gotten it copywrited so they could receive proper credit.
It has a Ward-Farmer sound. It may be like that case of Inez Andrews and Sallie Martin. LOL. I love the song regardless of who wrote it, but gospel artist will steal a song.
There is none like the original. No one can do it better than the ORIGINAL, then those who first sung it. People try to change it and do it different but it won't and i repeat WONT be better. LOL. But dont get me wrong, the people that have sung it like Nikki Ross and the other people they are awesome, and great! But the ORIGINAL is absolutely PHENOMENAL!
this song was the ultimate. I remember the mass choir @ Pilgrim Church of Christ sang this song ( I was a teenager) 1985-88 we even had some of the band instruments. sis charmaine Wilson SANG the lead w/ annointing..Wow this song still has it.. Rev brunson and the tommies SANG with all their hearts every song.. does anyone recall them singing the star spangled banner .. wow i recall it was annointed aswell. thank you for finding this and posting bcuz THERE IS NO WAY I CAN LIVE WITHOUT GOD!!
Sorry Ricky, the Tommies set the standard on this one! Ive never heard this one. I didnt grow up listening this like most of you, so I'm still discovering the gems of classic gospel from back in the day. Thanks dude for posting. This is a blessing!
I remember driving to high school and the dj would play this and I just loved it!!!! This is the absolute BEST....Often imitated, never duplicated!!!! Hats off to the Thommies for setting a standard for choirs....The BEST!!!!
This is awesome, I never knew it was recorded so very long ago, this brings tears to my eyes, because it;s so true without God there is no other way. the choir is wonderful.
Donna Blakely can be seen singing this song with the Tommies on another clip posted on youtube. But, this is none other than Sylvia Nichoson-Mickens. Thanks for your comment. Be blessed and know it!
There is a 4th version to this song that was arranged by Patrick Lundy and the Ministers of Music out or Washington, DC. If anyone would like to hear it look him up! There is simply nothing like the original versions of these songs particularly when you get old as me and know every version. Thanks for keeping this alive and posting....
thx for posting this it is a classic and its one of those songs from this era that paved the way for a lot if music that has evolved from then until now. Bless u 4 posting it....
While we all agree that updates on anything are good (cars, clothing, homes, etc.) it's always necessary to pay homage to the "original." Let's learn to respect each others opinions. Remember, each artist renders their selection based on not only their musical ability, but also under the direction of a musical leader and often times the musical leader has a great amount of input into how the song must be produced. Lastly, each singer has a different anointing.
Thank you for posting this version. I've been looking for this for quite some time. I knew Percy Bady wrote it but I couldn't remember who recorded it.
So there are three versions of this song: Ricky Dillard & New G, Milton Brunson & TCS, and Judah Generation.
Also, I agree. Nikki did a lot on the Dillard version, sometimes it seems too much. She's a better vocalist than this soloist. I like the drums and organ better on the Dillard version better.
I understand regarding the opinion. May I write it??? I like the lead on this one. It sounds super sincere and the lady is just flat foot singing.
You see that, I didn't put Nikki Ross down to lift up the lady who did it in the 80s with the Tommies. That's what we as blacks got to do a better job of. Nikki can sing! Our opinions, yes, discernment says, don't publicize them at the expense of others.
I don't think anyone is saying Nikki can't sing. As a matter of fact, I think she's great. The difference is that Sylvia just sang the song without riffs and runs. Sometimes the riffs can take away from a song if a different version without the riffs is heard. Other times, riffs are just awesome. Look up Blanche McAllister to see what I mean by awesome riffs. Both Sylvia and Nikki did a wonderful job with this song. Two different styles. Same wonderful song.
There are actually doing some of the same identical "riffs" and "runs", so i am not sure how you are analyzing this. Sometimes we try to say that the original version of a song is better because it is the original and that is not always the case. Nikki's "riffs and runs" are cleaner than Sylvia's. But both did a good job.
You are correct. Anyone who's ever heard this song and There Is No Failure can tell you Sylvia does her fair share of riffs and runs. However, she doesn't do them throughout the entire song. I'm not analyzing, just stating my preference. Besides, I did say that I thought both ladies were great singers. There are some original songs that I don't like, but love newer versions. Seems like you're over-analyzing the comments.
Yes, and I like the lead on this one better it sounds more sincere to me less riffs and more feeling...just an opinion (reread what is stated as well as implied). It sounds more sincere is just an example that the older version is better.... That's all we're saying, but we won't saying anything else, because we will be over-analyzing. Come Chrisitans. Stop hating!!!!! We are our worst enemy. Black folk I mean...
Now that I dont agree with. Never did I hate on either. My comment was mostly in reference to critics such as yourself, not the singers. As I stated at the end of my comment, both did a good job. Don't label me as a hater because our opinion's differ. THAT"S not very christian like. I can respect minjalewissr's comment because we just voicing opinions. I hope that we as christians can get to the point that we can have a conversation without being verbally critical of one another. God Bless!
I don't think this is the original. I believe the original was done with a young lady named Tina Watkins. This version is nice but the one with Tina is my personal preference. Ricky Dillard's version adds a contempory flavor to a classic and as always ministers just the same!
Are you sure about that? There was a lady named Tina Watson who sang with the Tommies but her first solo was He Cares. She is a soprano. You can find a lot of clips of her on youtube. If this is the same woman, I would love hear her sing this song, too. If you have anyone else singing this, please post it. I'd love to hear it. Thanks for your comments.
it is the original. i listened to the album in the early eighties every week. i dont think it is watson but all of his lead vocals could sing. this song really got the tommies going in the comtemporary gospel scene.
This is the original, trust me. I had it when it first came out. You are thinking about TINA WATSON and she never lead this song. She lead "He Cares" as minjalewissr said, which was two albums later on the "If I Be Lifted" album.
BTW I agree nothing compares to this, the ORIGINAL. Sylvia Nicholson-Mickens was perfect for this song.
I used to play this on a turntable also. This is exactly the speed as I remember it. Thanks for posting!

umm....excuse me, but Barbara Ward Farmer wrote this song and gave it to Percy Bady.........get it rite.......awesome song.....
freakn8ion 2 years ago
The information you see is based on information found on the album. If it is incorrect, then Mr. Bady and Ms. Farmer should settle it with the producers and the record company. Anyone who owns the album can only go by what is printed on it. Based on album information, Mr. Bady is credited with writing this song. How is the general public supposed to "get it rite" when all we do is go by the information that is available to us?
minjalewissr 2 years ago 7
Anything contrary to what is printed in the album information is nothing more than hearsay and rumor until it is legally proven in a court of law. Therefore, PERCY BADY WROTE THE SONG. If someone else wrote it, they should have gotten it copywrited so they could receive proper credit.
loopyman76 2 years ago
@loopyman76
It has a Ward-Farmer sound. It may be like that case of Inez Andrews and Sallie Martin. LOL. I love the song regardless of who wrote it, but gospel artist will steal a song.

Oh!!! Yes!!! nothing like this old music. Love it. My chior sang this when I was a teenager. No other choir was like the Thompson Community Singers.
Christopher8002000 2 years ago
There is none like the original. No one can do it better than the ORIGINAL, then those who first sung it. People try to change it and do it different but it won't and i repeat WONT be better. LOL. But dont get me wrong, the people that have sung it like Nikki Ross and the other people they are awesome, and great! But the ORIGINAL is absolutely PHENOMENAL!

Lastly, each singer has a different anointing.
mrnononsense 2 years ago
I agree completely. Thank you for your sensibility.

Thank you for posting this version. I've been looking for this for quite some time. I knew Percy Bady wrote it but I couldn't remember who recorded it.
shabosings 2 years ago
So there are three versions of this song: Ricky Dillard & New G, Milton Brunson & TCS, and Judah Generation.
Also, I agree. Nikki did a lot on the Dillard version, sometimes it seems too much. She's a better vocalist than this soloist. I like the drums and organ better on the Dillard version better.

bidonpenn 2 years ago
Yes, and I like the lead on this one better it sounds more sincere to me less riffs and more feeling...just an opinion
ocarrington 2 years ago 2
I like that old school raw Patti LaBelle-type singing as well:) But the new stuff is cool too, as long as it reaches those who need it.
bidonpenn 2 years ago
I understand regarding the opinion. May I write it??? I like the lead on this one. It sounds super sincere and the lady is just flat foot singing.
You see that, I didn't put Nikki Ross down to lift up the lady who did it in the 80s with the Tommies. That's what we as blacks got to do a better job of. Nikki can sing! Our opinions, yes, discernment says, don't publicize them at the expense of others.
lllewis65 2 years ago
I don't think anyone is saying Nikki can't sing. As a matter of fact, I think she's great. The difference is that Sylvia just sang the song without riffs and runs. Sometimes the riffs can take away from a song if a different version without the riffs is heard. Other times, riffs are just awesome. Look up Blanche McAllister to see what I mean by awesome riffs. Both Sylvia and Nikki did a wonderful job with this song. Two different styles. Same wonderful song.
minjalewissr 2 years ago
There are actually doing some of the same identical "riffs" and "runs", so i am not sure how you are analyzing this. Sometimes we try to say that the original version of a song is better because it is the original and that is not always the case. Nikki's "riffs and runs" are cleaner than Sylvia's. But both did a good job.
MsMusician4U 2 years ago
You are correct. Anyone who's ever heard this song and There Is No Failure can tell you Sylvia does her fair share of riffs and runs. However, she doesn't do them throughout the entire song. I'm not analyzing, just stating my preference. Besides, I did say that I thought both ladies were great singers. There are some original songs that I don't like, but love newer versions. Seems like you're over-analyzing the comments.
minjalewissr 2 years ago
Yes, and I like the lead on this one better it sounds more sincere to me less riffs and more feeling...just an opinion (reread what is stated as well as implied). It sounds more sincere is just an example that the older version is better.... That's all we're saying, but we won't saying anything else, because we will be over-analyzing. Come Chrisitans. Stop hating!!!!! We are our worst enemy. Black folk I mean...
lllewis65 2 years ago
Now that I dont agree with. Never did I hate on either. My comment was mostly in reference to critics such as yourself, not the singers. As I stated at the end of my comment, both did a good job. Don't label me as a hater because our opinion's differ. THAT"S not very christian like. I can respect minjalewissr's comment because we just voicing opinions. I hope that we as christians can get to the point that we can have a conversation without being verbally critical of one another. God Bless!

This is the original. What an album. "I have tried over and over but there is no way I can live without you"
This album by far in my opinion was at the top. It had everything. Before the Miss. Mass Choir, David Curry had us singing this one.
My my my. They raised the bar and set the standard.
Whether Fire its going to rain whatever they could do it.
The Tommies.

Ricky & Patrick had great versions of this song, but I love this version.
StyleNMan 3 years ago
I don't think this is the original. I believe the original was done with a young lady named Tina Watkins. This version is nice but the one with Tina is my personal preference. Ricky Dillard's version adds a contempory flavor to a classic and as always ministers just the same!
ladycvj 3 years ago
Are you sure about that? There was a lady named Tina Watson who sang with the Tommies but her first solo was He Cares. She is a soprano. You can find a lot of clips of her on youtube. If this is the same woman, I would love hear her sing this song, too. If you have anyone else singing this, please post it. I'd love to hear it. Thanks for your comments.
minjalewissr 3 years ago
it is the original. i listened to the album in the early eighties every week. i dont think it is watson but all of his lead vocals could sing. this song really got the tommies going in the comtemporary gospel scene.
davidgravesjr 3 years ago
It is the original and nothing compares.
flo5050 3 years ago
This is the original, trust me. I had it when it first came out. You are thinking about TINA WATSON and she never lead this song. She lead "He Cares" as minjalewissr said, which was two albums later on the "If I Be Lifted" album.
BTW I agree nothing compares to this, the ORIGINAL. Sylvia Nicholson-Mickens was perfect for this song.
