warm butter and let it simmer for aprox 2 hours and remove all foam until you get a transparent liquid. Remove from heat and put in a jar to cool down for about 24 hrs, now u get a nutty like smelling butter that is "Ghee". Some say this is super healthy and great for your intestines, and one the other hand ghee is the number one cause of heart failure in the UK amongst the arabic community.
@TheFingolito ghee or butter have a big amount of very useful vitamins which r very gud for health, but if do exercise ghee will not contribute to the cause of heart failure.
hi can u possibly share a recipe for arabic grilled chicken sold in makkah with rice called shawaya ? with ruz bukhari rice ? thanks , keep up the gud work
Thank you so very much for sharing this delightful sweet treat on the internet! I lived in Riyadh for four years and this was one of the dishes that quickly became a favorite of mine. It has been many years since I have eaten it and I appreciate the demonstration very much. Please consider making a recipe link on the hotel website so we can print it. Thank you Chef!
@Nawty2Hawty not gona argue with something we both can't prove, weither it's Syrians or Egyptian.
ALL agree's that the Syrian one is better, infact all the syrian food and sweet is uncomparable with anything Egyptia, with all do respect to egyptians but their food is NOT tasty at all.
FANTASTIQUE!!!!!!!!!!! Great Video!!!!!! Please Post More!!!!!!!!!! You teach well, explaining everything, taking the time to show items and finished product. Kudos Dude!!!!!!

i've tried this recipe twice and it never came out right. Both times it had to be dumped in the garbage. I think something isn't correct with the quantity of the ingredients and also I never heard of using yeast in basboosa....it's usually baking powder. Peanuts on basboosa????
know what...it happens...I have this awesome recipe for basboosa from my jordanian neighbor...and honestly whenever i have tried that...people somehow still remember the taste it was so awesome. i will send you the recipe in your inbox...just have to ask mom hehe..

I was wrong, semolina flour is coarse flour made from durum wheat. I'm not sure where you could get it. Maybe you could get it if you go to a middle eastern or indian store
First of all we would like to thank you very much for your interest and for viewing our online recipe. Further to your query, note that you don't need to make a "layer", mix all the ingredients together as instructed in the video and set aside for 5-10 minutes. Spread evenly in the pan and baked.

It is butter (unsalted)
Just melt the butter and simmer for a few minutes, cool and skim off the white stuff that floated to the top.
