We need another Olympic or World Cup Victory over Canada badly. Let's face it - since 1996, Canada has dominated with the exception of 1 US Jr championship and 1 Women's Gold in 98.
This was a nail biter to watch and still is even if I already know the outcome. Tony Amonte was amazing. His line with John LeClair and Smolinski drove Canada nuts. I remember it being a nasty, very chippy game with raw emotion and some pretty dirty hits by Canada. Remember it like it was yesterday. 1235shank is clearly Canadian and shows lack of perspective. So Canada's excuse was that the game was fixed. That's an excuse I have never heard before. Sour grapes?
I remember watching this live and, my god, the greatest hockey I've ever seen. USA were underdogs, but look at that lineup! Every bit as good as Canada I think; not at the end of the bench, but at top they were maybe even a little better. Hull, Modano, Tkachuk, John LeClaire, Amonte, LaFontaine, a young dougie Weight, Leetch, and oh yeah Richter in goal. And they were all such fantastic skaters the Canada D were rightfully terrified.

Gretzky, Lemeiux, Lindros, Messier, and other top Canadian players. But they proved themselves good at hitting the goalie's logo. It was a joke, and a very obvious example of a game being FIXED!!!!

I think the matchup for the 2011 World Cup of Hockey final will be Canada vs. the United States. After winning the Olympic silver in Vancouver, Ryan Miller will seek revenge against Sidney Crosby.
This is the real thing..anybody who knows their hockey knows this is US hockey's crowning achievement. 1980 was great, but this was coming into Canada needing to win both games and doing it with a great team.

Both games were as intense as possible, and Canada needed a goal by the worlds best in OT.. AWESOME!
